An incredibly moving, worthy and welcome chronicle of the strength, adversity, and determination of these young women. Watching this documentary leaves you with so much hope for the future. Inspiring.
This was our reaction when we caught Girls State at Sundance in January of this year. You can read our whole review here, but the gist from the summary above is the sooner you see this film the better. For those with AppleTV+, the date to watch out for is the 5th of April, as the film hits the streaming service.
To celebrate the film’s release Claire Bueno sat down with filmmakers Amanda McBaine and Jesse Moss, and the stars of the documentary: Emily Worthmore, Nisha Murali, Faith Glasgow and Cecilia Bartin to talk about their incredible achievement.
The movie will premiere on Apple TV+ April 5, 2024. It’s well worth your time.

To celebrate the release of AppleTV+’s The Family Plan, Claire Bueno sat down with the titular family and the film’s director to discover exactly how the carefully constructed chaos was created. Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, the film stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby, Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q, and Ciarán Hinds.
The Family Plan will premiere on Apple TV+ December 15, 2023.
The Family Plan Interviews
Plot:
Dan Morgan (Mark Wahlberg) loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story. Decades earlier, he was an elite government assassin tasked with eliminating the world’s deadliest threats. When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife (Michelle Monaghan), angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old baby into their minivan and takes off on an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas.

Anthony Bueno's lovingly crafted documentary (presented here in a special extended edition) is overflowing with good stuff - so much that he and his producer sister Claire Bueno, who introduce themselves in the first of the special features on this disc, had to find somewhere else to put it all. The result is a disc stuffed with additional interview excerpts, many of which are easily good enough to have made the final cut, offering fans further insights into Ivan Reitman's much-loved hit.
Also present here are interviews with the Buenos themselves about the making of this film, a topic which is explored in depth in the accompanying booklet, plus a small gallery featuring pieces of fan art sent in to the production, and, last but not least, the original trailer. This is a collection of pieces assembled by fans for fans and most will find that it hits the spot.
