Tfc has recruited Sugar23’s Kelly Wu to spearhead its production arm.
The new division, Tfc Productions, is an extension of the company’s ongoing management work, with Tfc beginning to selectively produce alongside its clients. The boutique firm, which was co-founded by former WME partner David Stone and former UTA partner Ben Jacobson early in the pandemic, has enlisted Wu to run the division day to day.
“We are so thrilled to have Kelly join us to spearhead our efforts across Tfc Productions,” the duo noted in a joint statement. “She’s a brilliant executive, a wonderful person, and a huge value-add for our company, our clients, and our entire film and television slate.”
Wu got her Hollywood start working for the head of TV at WME, where she was integral to the formation of the agency’s first company-wide Aapi Heritage Month programming initiative. From there, she moved...

More than 400 prominent female writers and showrunners sent a letter today to the heads of the major studios expressing their “grave concerns” about the companies’ “lack of specific production protocols” to protect their workers in anti-abortion states.
The letters, which state that “it is unacceptable to ask any person to choose between their human rights and their employment,” also demanded that the companies “pledge to discontinue all political donations to anti-abortion candidates and political action committees immediately.”
Deadline has obtained a copy of the letter to Netflix, which organizers say was sent to top executives at Amazon Studios, AMC Networks, Apple, Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Netflix, Paramount Global, , and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The letters, whose signers include Ava DuVernay, Shonda Rhimes, Amy Schumer, Marta Kauffman, Callie Khouri, WGA West vice president Michele Mulroney and WGA West secretary-treasurer Betsy Thomas, said that “this situation raises basic matters of equality, health, and safety in the workplace.

Exclusive: CBS is taking another shot at adapting the German police procedural dramedy Einstein, this time with major changes to the original concept.
The 2017 German series was a police procedural dramedy about the unknown great-great-grandson of Albert Einstein, a theoretical physics professor, who helps the police in solving murder cases.
The CBS take, written/executive produced by Insatiable creator Lauren Gussis and executive produced by American Gothic creator Corinne Brinkerhoff, centers on a roguish, out-of-the-box-thinking physics professor who happens to be the secret, illegitimate great-granddaughter of Albert Einstein. She begrudgingly partners with a Boston homicide detective not only to help solve the most puzzling of crimes, but also to address the problems ever-present inside the institution of policing itself.
In addition to switching the gender of the Einstein great-grandchild title character, the adaptation also provides 2020 perspective on policing, which has come under major scrutiny following the death of George Floyd.

Someone is going to try to replace Amy Heckerling’s dialogue and Alicia Silverstone as Cher? As if! Yet that appears to be the case with the announcement that the Clueless reboot is headed to NBCUniversal’s new Peacock streaming network.
The project has actually been in development since last year, but the announcement of it moving forward and finding a home at Peacock is a swift development. But the series, which is being written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey, takes a different direction than you might expect. With its focus on the character of Dionne, who was played by Stacey Dash in the original 1995 movie and the previous television adaptation attempt from 1996, the new Clueless clearly intends to offer a unique vantage on the privileges of Cher’s Beverly Hills high school experience.

The series centers around the Dionne character played by Stacey Dash in the movie and the 1996 series adaptation.

Reboots have become all the rage in recent years, and even '90s cult classic Clueless isn't immune to a 2020 makeover - literally. Yep, Cher Horowitz and Dionne Davenport might be returning to our screens with a total plot makeover, and we're, uh, hesitant to watch, to say the least. According to Deadline, we might be in store for a whole new Clueless mystery drama series set in La in 2020, and it's described as "a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sunglasses-wearing, oat milk latté, and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when the high school queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong No. 2 Dionne steps into Cher's vacant Air Jordans."
Now, we don't have time to unpack all of that, but a missing Cher does not sound good, and I think it's safe to say this potential TV remake is going to be almost nothing like the original. The show...

“Frequency” and “No Tomorrow” have been officially canceled by The CW, TheWrap has learned. The freshman dramas were both given the axe after premiering to disappointing ratings. Neither show was expected to return after failing to earn a full-season order last fall. “Frequency,” which starred Peyton List and Riley Smith, averaged just a 1.5 million viewers per episode. The hour-long dramedy “No Tomorrow” from “Jane the Virgin” alum Corinne Brinkerhoff fared even worse, with an average of 1 million viewers. It’s funny that, just one year ago, you couldn’t watch an episodic whodunnit even if you wanted to. MTV’s Scream re-do was gearing up, and Scream Queens was a few months off, but the in-the-now murder mystery market was wide open. Coming off of light-hearted dramedy “Jane The Virgin,” CBS’ serial killer drama “American Gothic” seemed like a swerve for writer/producer Corinne Brinkerhoff, but the first-time showrunner tells TheWrap that the two have more in common than you might think. “Believe it or not there’s actually quite a bit of comedy in ‘American Gothic,'” she said. “I know it sounds illogical, but I think one of the ways people deal with traumatic situations is with gallows humor. It’s certainly what I do, and I love that.” The CBS summer series is about a prominent Boston family that discovers its newly deceased patriarch.

And we were in New York for their summer press tour to speak with series creator Corinne Brinkerhoff (Jane the Virgin, The Good Wife) along with one of its stars, Juliet Rylance (The Knick) who plays the eldest daughter, Alison.

Find out a little bit below extra about the show below, and tune in tonight at 10/9c on CBS to fall into the summer's newest mystery!
At first glance, the American Gothic family seems idealistic, but the details start to unfold slowly that all is not what it seems. Rylance explained, "The setup is really clever. It's a family that have come up from not having much money to extreme wealth."

Once upon a time James Frey was the subject of intense scrutiny and controversy when it was revealed his Oprah-endorsed book A Million Little Pieces was not a memoir and instead full of fabrications, as was his follow-up My Friend Leonard. The CW has a "super" new lineup for Fall 2016-2017, including the arrival of "Supergirl," which appears to be making a smooth transition from CBS on the same night and time, plus "Supernatural" moving once again for Season 12, this time back to Thursdays. The network really wants to keep fans on their toes with that show (which also has new showrunners). Whatever. Fans will follow it wherever it goes, even if it gets traded to CBS like a network fantasy league.

I am super happy that so far CW’s odd ball show Jane the Virgin is doing pretty well. CW is doing a heavy amount of PR to continue to support the show and we now have a new batch of promo stills for the November 4th episode, “Chapter Four”. Gina’s Jane finds herself falling more and more for Rafael and decides it is time to address it before she says “I do”. Little does she know that someone else is fighting to join in the wedding fun, Rogelio. Here is the official synopsis of the episode.
The Unexpected — In addition to being overwhelmed with all the wedding planning, Jane (Gina Rodriguez) begins to feel guilty about her emerging feelings towards Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and decides to tell Michael (Brett Dier) during their pre-wedding counseling. Elsewhere, Rafael and Petra (Yael Grobglas) are faced with someone from their past and neither are happy about it.
