Fox’s “Name That Tune” is back Tuesday night, but just because the new season features some celebrity contestants from the music world, doesn’t mean they are any better at guessing what song the band is playing snippets of.
“It’s anyone’s game,” “Name That Tune” host Jane Krakowski told TheWrap. “You can’t pre-guess who’s going to be good at the game.”
The new season of the show, which was filmed in Dublin, Ireland, is a celebrity edition with the stars playing for various charities.
“Fuller House” star Jodie Sweetin plays against “Malcolm and the Middle’s” Frankie Muniz. In another episode, “Beverly Hills, 90210” stars Jennie Garth and Ian Ziering face off. Mr. Boombastic, Shaggy, takes on “The Facts of Life” alum Kim Fields. Music star Cassadee Pope plays against music artist and actress Jana Kramer. Derek Hough is one of the busiest people on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 30 — just not necessarily on the show itself. The “Dancing” judge kicks off his Las Vegas residency, “Derek Hough: No Limit,” on Wednesday, Sept. 22, and yes, he wanted the two shows to coincide.
“I did. I wanted to have that synergy. It’s so much easier being a judge on the show than it is being a pro dancer in terms of the emotional, mental and physical demands,” Hough told TV Insider. “I think having [my] show and being a judge will complement each other. It’s a short flight between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.”
Hough will perform five nights a week — Wednesdays through Sundays — at The Venetian Resort. That schedule is nothing compared to the one he had in 2015 when he starred in “New York Spring Spectacular” at Radio City Music Hall while he was a...

During an interview with People, Simone Biles, who previously competed on the show during season 24, shared how excited she was for Lee to join the cast. In fact, Biles thinks Lee has what it takes to win the Mirrorball Trophy. "I think she'll do really well," Biles said. "I think America will fall in love with her because she has such an inspiring story." Though Biles hasn't had a chance to give Lee any advice, she definitely plans to tune into the show and cheer her on from afar. With 10 days left before the delayed and (to many) disquieting Summer Olympics start in Tokyo, NBC Olympics executive producer Molly Solomon and three on-air analysts made the case for staying the course.
“As the world emerges from troubled times, we really believe the Tokyo Olympics will be the most meaningful Olympic Games of our lifetime,” Solomon said during a 30-minute press call. Joining her on the line were NBC Olympics analysts Ato Boldon, Rowdy Gaines and Nastia Liukin.
Initially slated for July 2020, the Games were postponed a year due to Covid-19. While large parts of the world managed to escape the oppressive lockdowns this year, Japan has seen a massive spike in infections as the vaccination rollout proceeds slowly. In response to the conditions, medical experts and other voices called for a postponement. In the end, the International Olympic Committee chose not to risk their billions in broadcast revenues and proceed with the Games.

With the 2021 Summer Games just weeks away, the NBC Olympics team is full steam ahead.
The network announced on Thursday that veteran broadcasters Mary Carillo, Andrea Joyce and Jimmy Roberts will once again serve as NBC Olympics commentators this summer in Tokyo. The Opening Ceremony of the 2021 Games is Friday, July 23 on NBC.
Including this summer’s Tokyo Games, the trio will have worked at nearly 50 Olympics. Carillo and Roberts will serve as correspondents in Tokyo, while Joyce serves as a reporter at the gymnastics competition and handles play-by-play for rhythmic gymnastics. Carillo will also call tennis and open-water swimming.
Tokyo marks Mary Carillo’s 15th Olympic assignment. Since the 2008 Games, she has covered the people, culture and history of each host country. A two-time Peabody winner, Carillo served as a correspondent for the 2014 Sochi Olympics and was the host and interviewer for a retrospective documentary on Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding.

Simone Biles has made gymnastics history once again. On Saturday, the U.S. Olympic champion became the first woman to land a Yurchenko double pike vault in competition, and very nearly stuck the landing.
Competing at the U.S. Classic In Indianapolis, Biles pulled off the maneuver in competition after trying it out three times in warm-ups. Her practice runs stirred up hype about whether she’d land the move when she performed the vault — which she did, only taking a single hop once she hit the mat.
“You know, yesterday Simone told us that she likes to let her gymnastics speak for her. Well, the queen has definitely spoken,” the NBC Sports announcer remarked.
The trick required Biles to flip three full times in the air, from board to mat, keeping her legs perfectly extended. As the commentators note, the concern with the trick Is getting enough power to accomplish all three rotations,...

It would help to be interested in gymnastics at least a little bit if you’re going to talk about someone like Nastia Liukin, who has been a part of the sport for longer than many people realize. Do we have our first contestant of “Dancing with the Stars” Season 28? It’s not set in stone yet, but don’t be surprised if one of the names you’ll hear announced later this summer is Katelyn Ohashi.

Mary Lou Retton’s ‘Mulan’ routine left her in tears on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Disney Night [Watch]
Mary Lou Retton was overcome with emotion during Disney Night on “Dancing with the Stars.” The series has been a healing process for the Olympian, who has been struggling to shed the perfectionism instilled in her by her career in competitive gymnastics. And when she performed a contemporary routine to “Reflection” from “Mulan,” the sentiments from the song combined with her pro partner Sasha Farber‘s choreography caused her to open up, leaving her in tears when it was all over. Watch their routine above.
Even when she was training for this dance she admitted to having confidence issues. Tinashe got the boot on Week 4 of “Dancing with the Stars” despite having the second highest score of the night. But, as of press time, she definitely is not in the top two when it comes to YouTube views. Numbers were down overall this week — compared to last week when six couples had more than 100,000 plays — since it was just trios and not a bunch of reach-for-the-Kleenex sob stories.
Again, some caveats:
1. Needless to say, not everyone who watches a contestant’s dance on YouTube is voting and vice versa.
2. Not every star or dance is created equal. Some people already come in with major notoriety and a fan base, which could boost views. Some pros have a bigger fan base than the stars they’re teaching. Some people accrue fans as the season progresses. Sometimes a performance is just flat-out amazing or a complete hot mess or meme-worthy that...

This week on “Dancing with the Stars” each couple performed a trio routine with a “DWTS” alum or a special celebrity guest. A new Mirror Ball front-runner may have emerged, as Disney star Milo Manheim along with her pro partner Witney Carson and trio partner Riker Lynch brought down the house with an electrifying salsa. The routine was just one point shy of a perfect score.
But as one star rose another was shockingly snuffed out: R&B star Tinashe and her partner Brandon Armstrong were unfairly booted despite topping the leaderboard in the first two weeks of the competition. With her out of the running, which of the remaining celebs will rise to the occasion and pose a serious threat to win the season?

The CW’s Charmed reboot wasn’t the only series summoning the Power of Three this week.
Dancing With the Stars also showed its appreciation for trios on Monday night, when each Season 27 couple was joined by a third dancer for their routines.
Of course, not all trio dances were created equal on the Week 4 broadcast. Though most duos were joined by DWTS alumni who fared well in their seasons, one couple had the enormous advantage of adding a professional dancer to their team (hi, Maddie Ziegler!), and another had the disadvantage of adding… a Bachelor villain. Suffice it to say,...

Going into week four of “Dancing with the Stars” season 27, there were 10 couples remaining. But it’s been a challenging month in the ballroom for all of the celebs, so this week they got a little extra help. Monday, October 15 was Trios Night, during which the celebs and their pro partners were each joined by a special guest. So was three a lucky number for the contestants, or was three a crowd? Find out below in our live blog with all the minute-by-minute developments as they happen.
Those special guest dancers were mostly past “DWTS” contestants: Amy Purdy, Riker Lynch, Rashad Jennings, Lindsey Stirling, Melissa Rycroft, Joey Fatone and Nastia Liukin. The other three were a reality TV dance star (Maddie Ziegler), a “Bachelor in Paradise” alum (Jordan Kimball) and “Harry Potter” actress Scarlett Byrne. See the full list of trio partnerships here.

It takes three to tango on “Dancing with the Stars” — and to cha-cha, paso doble, salsa, Argentine tango and Charleston. Week 4 is Trio Week, but with a twist this time. While pros and troupe members have joined couples in the past, the show is bringing in former contestants, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors” contestant Maddie Ziegler (as previously announced), and two people who have absolutely nothing to do with the show whatsoever.
Scarlett Byrne, who played Pansy Parkinson in the “Harry Potter” films, will team with her former co-star Evanna Lynch and Keo Motsepe for their salsa, while “Bachelor in Paradise” star Jordan Kimball will hit the hardwood with Grocery Store Joe and Jenna Johnson for their salsa. Stay thirsty, ABC.
Former champs Melissa Rycroft and Rashad Jennings, and alums Nastia Liukin, Linsdsey Stirling, Riker Lynch, Joey Fatone and Amy Purdy are the past contestants who’ll take another step on the dance floor.
