So far this series has not missed a beat. Providing action packed entertainment whilst flirting around the edges of Wolverines extensive existing continuity. I was interested to see if this issue could keep up that consistent run as it ties closely to such n important moment from Wolverine’s past; that being the Weapon X experiment. The Wednesday Warrior in me wasn’t entirely comfortable with this story weaving into the timeline of the classic story arc. We get a combined five pages bookending the Weapon X stuff and I think this goes a long way to the issue not depending on that completely. If you ignore the nagging question of when this would actually occur during the experiment and enjoy it for what it is this is very fun,...

Welcome back to another installment of Panel Discussion, this time featuring Dan’s top picks for this week in comics.
Before I get into what this article is I need to get into what it is not. First I am basing this list not off of my thoughts on each issue rather my expectations. Based on my knowledge of the creators, the series, and in some cases just the concepts I created a list of five comics I am most looking forward to this new comic book day.
Also, this is not a speculation article. I am not saying these comics are ‘Key’ issues you can flip in eBay. Ultimately when I walk into my local comic shop on New Comic Book Day these are the five books I am most looking forward to reading. I will try to balance it out by including some concerns I have with each issue as well.

It’s time for a new beginning. The last year’s been a difficult one for the X-Men; in the aftermath of Secret Wars, the mutant race was locked in a battle for survival against the Inhumans. All that finally came to a head in Inhumans vs. X-Men, a miniseries that drew a line under this period – and set the groundwork for something new.
So we move to X-Men: Prime, a one-shot that sets the stage for the X-Men’s next era. The issue united a number of key architects in the next wave of X-Men books; Marc Guggenheim, Greg Pak and Cullen Bunn as writers; Ken Lashley, Ibraim Robertson, Leonard Kirk and Guillermo Ortego as artists. It serves a simple purpose: to establish the bare-bones of the new status quo, essentially serving as an advertisement for everything that’s coming. The good news? It’s a tremendous success.

Pop culture comes to life in St. Louis next month! It’s the Wizard World Comic Con May 22nd through the 24th at America’s Center downtown (701 Convention Plaza – St. Louis, Mo 63101), and boy oh boy, do they have an amazing line-up of guests!
Sure, you got the comic artists and cosplayers, wrestlers, a St. Louis Ram, a Power Ranger, and of course the ubiquitous Walking Dead stars, but what We Are Movie Geeks is most excited about are the celebrities from movies that will be on hand: Horror legend George Romero, Sharknado legend Tara Reid, horror hostess with the mostest (if you know what I mean) Elvira, Guardians Of The Galaxy tough guy Dave Bautista, Henry the serial killer himself Michael Rooker, Do The Right Thing’s ‘Buggin Out’ Giancarlo Esposito. Lord of the Rings Trilogy’s Pippin Billy Boyd, Captain America squeeze Hayley Atwell, and Silent Bob’s buddy Jay aka Jason Mewes.

Secret Six #2
Written by Gail Simone
Art by Ken Lashley
Colors by Jason Wright
Published by DC Comics
Gail Simone continues the return of her DC brainchild, Secret Six. While it’s a shame this reboot involves dumping the diverse and nuanced cast from before the New 52, it’s also a good sign that Simone is not letting this book rest on the laurels of its predecessors. What she has is a mysterious and compelling story with a team just as shady.
To retain the untrustworthy quality of the cast, issue #2 focuses almost entirely on Catman. It makes sense, to be entirely honest. The big announcement with the launch of this title was the return of Catman and it seems he’s to serve as the audience’s perspective character. Some information as to why Thomas Blake and crew have been locked in a box at the bottom of a sea is revealed.

DC Comics reboots the Secret Six in the New 52 Universe as a monthly series. Issue #1 is entitled “One Less Mouth to Feed.” Writer Gail Simone and Penciller Ken Lashley pair up to bring the misfits back into the public eye.
Issue #1 introduces the new incarnation of the Secret Six. The group consists of Thomas Blake aka Catman, Damon Wells aka Big Shot, Kani aka Porcelain, Shauna Belzer aka Ventriloquist, Strix, and Black Alice. All are equipped with certain “talents” they can use for good or evil. Can they band together to save themselves from a lethal prison before one of them is terminated?
Gail Simone does a great job introducing all of the main characters for Secret Six. Each personality shares their power and name in a natural manner that doesn’t feel forced. The mystery of who is holding them hostage and how they can escape keeps readers engaged to the very last page.

‘Secret Six ‘ #1
Written by Gail Simone
Pencils by Ken Lashley; Inks by Ken Lashley & Drew Geraci
After three years, Gail Simone returns to the popular and critically praised ‘Secret Six.’ However this isn’t a continuation of the much beloved team, but a full reboot. Most of the classic villains for hire aren’t to be found save for a few familiar faces. The rest is comprised of either brand new characters and a couple of villains from Simone’s ‘Batgirl’ run.
The story stars Thomas Blake, a.k.a. Catman, who is approached by some mysterious men in suits and placed in a coffin-shaped single room prison with five other strangers. His fellow captives include Black Alice, a girl with strange magical powers; Strix, a scarred assassin for the Court of Owls; Shauna Belzer, a.k.a. the Ventriloquist, a mad woman with a doll named Ferdie; Porcelain, a...

The Man of Steel's greatest foe is back and literally bigger and deadlier than ever. Superman: Doomed Issue #1 is an exciting one-shot kicking off this epic storyline. DC Comics' event will cross over into multiple titles over the next few months.
A larger and more powerful Doomsday is transporting himself all over the world destroying everything in his path. As he pops up in different locations, he leaves a trail of burned bodies and fiery desolation. Superman must track the evil beast down and stop his reign of terror. However, Doomsday isn't performing random acts of mayhem and murder. He has a bigger plan that could culminate in the second death of Superman.
Writers Scott Lobdell, Greg Pak, and Charles Soule guarantee readers will want to come back for more through establishing a frantic pace and building up tension that will keep readers turning pages. The concept of...

Superman Doomed #1
Written by Scott Lobdell
Art by Ken Lashley
Published by DC Comics
Superman Doomed, a DC Comics One-Shot that will be continued in Action Comics #31, has all the ingredients of a great comic. Cosmically powerful monster bent on destroying the earth? Check. A Man of Steel who is wrestling with the consequences of the choices he may have to make to defeat said monster? Check. Cameo appearances by other members of the Justice League? Check. Artwork that conveys the epic scope expected of a comic featuring Superman and Doomsday? Check. All of the ingredients are there. Somehow, though, it doesn’t quite come together.
The story begins with some high-tech fighter jets flying in to attack a Doomsday who is already on the rampage in the Bahamas. The first panel of Doomsday in action is glorious. He looks powerful and deadly – like a modern incarnation of one of Greek mythology’s Titans.

Just one week after I asked writer Charles Soule if DC has greater plans for Doomsday, the publisher has answered my question by announcing a new crossover event that will span multiple books in May titled “Superman: Doomed.” The character first appeared in the New 52 universe in the Villains Month one-shot last September and went head to head with Superman in the first issue of Charles Soule’s “Superman/Wonder Woman.” However, “Superman: Doomed” will mark the first major confrontation between Superman and Doomsday since the New 52 launched in 2011.
The upcoming event will kick off in the “Superman: Doomed” #1 one-shot, written by “Superman” writer Scott Lobdell before crossing over into “Action Comics” from writer Greg Pak and then “Superman/Wonder Woman” with writer Charles Soule. Lobdell will then finish up the event within the pages of “Superman” #31.
You can check out the official press blurbs and cover art below!

Cbr has the first details on DC's upcoming crossover, Superman: Doomed, promising much more than just a rematch between the Man of Steel and the monstrous alien Doomsday. After appearing in his own Villains Month one-shot, Doomsday has been a lurking threat throughout Superman/Wonder Woman, and now there are big plans for the Superman titles this coming May. Kicking off the event is Superman: Doomed #1, on sale May 7. Written by Superman scribe Scott Lobdell, Action Comics writer Greg Pak and Superman/Wonder Woman's Charles Soule, with art and cover by Ken Lashley. Here's DC's official description of the one-shot: "Beginning the super-event you have been waiting for in The New 52: Superman vs. Doomsday in a way you've never seen before! And with Doomsday's deadly new abilities, in this battle there can be no winners. The Man of Steel must unleash insane levels of power in order to do the job,...
