When last we saw Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) in the Apple TV+ comedy series “Trying,” the couple was trying to pull off a reverse shotgun wedding — well, sort of. The long-term partners decided they finally wanted to get married, but rather than get hitched before people knew they were pregnant, they wanted to tie the knot before their kids were taken away from them. Luckily, Nikki and Jason won their court case against their adopted children’s biological grandmother, and with that out of the way, all their worries were over.
Ok, not quite. “Trying” takes a warts-and-all approach to parenthood (if not life in general), so there will always be concerns, big and small, for the family to deal with — the key is sticking together, no matter how trying things get. Season 4 brings a fresh set of family matters, as the story jumps six years into...

David Mitchell is returning to the BBC for genre-bending detective comedy Ludwig, which features on a five-strong comedy slate alongside Hulu co-production Dinosaur and a show from The Duchess star Michelle de Swarte.
Unveiling his first major comedy slate at this afternoon’s BBC Comedy Festival in Cardiff, the corporation’s Comedy Director Jon Petrie said the shows reflect “the depth and range of our offerings which champion British creativity.”
The slate is led by Ludwig, Peep Show star Mitchell’s first BBC project since Upstart Crow, which follows the eponymous protagonist as he takes on the identity of his brother, Dci James Taylor, who has disappeared off the face of the earth. Mitchell’s Ludwig lives in quiet solitude, designing puzzles for a living under his nom-de-plume, and he struggles to adapt to being a twin who happens to be a successful Dci leading Cambridge’s busy inner-city major crimes team.

Like Starz’s “American Gods” before it, Amazon’s newest limited series attempts to adapt the philosophically lofty, theologically-infused work of British novelist Neil Gaiman. In his 1990 novel “Good Omens” (co-written with Terry Pratchett), an odd-couple angel and demon attempt to avert the apocalypse in order to continue enjoying their unusual partnership. Onscreen, this pairing — between a saintly being played by Michael Sheen and a fallen angel played by David Tennant, both seeking to save the world for their own reasons — is the best part of the new “Good Omens” limited series. In Neil Gaiman’s new Amazon series Good Omens the end of the world is fast approaching and the forces of good and evil set out to find the Anti-Christ to stop Armageddon from happening. Good comes in the form of the charming angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the snide demon Crowley (David Tennant). The unlikely pair agree to put their differences aside (for the most part) to put an end to the apocalypse as the Four Horsemen mount their motorbikes to ride.
Amazon released the first trailer for Good Omens today ahead of its May 31 release on Amazon Prime Video and before it makes its debut at SXSW with a full-blown end-of-days spectacular. It gives our first look at Sheen and Tennant in action as the biblical odd couple and based on the trailer alone, they could not have picked a more perfect angel and demon to save the world from a child Anti-Christ.

Amazon released its longest look yet at “Good Omens,” its adaption of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s acclaimed fantasy novel.
All six episodes will debut on May 31. “Good Omens” stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as an angel and demon, respectfully, who have an unlikely friendship over centuries of living comfortably on Earth. Having become overly fond of life on Earth, they’re forced to form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon. But they have lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.
Based on the beloved book, “Good Omens” also includes Jon Hamm as the Archangel Gabriel, Frances McDormand as the Voice of God and Benedict Cumberbatch as Satan. On Tuesday, Gaiman announced that Brian Cox will be the Voice of Death.

Neil Gaiman has spent two years working on the TV adaptation of his and Terry Pratchett’s novel “Good Omens” and told an international TV crowd this week he dedicated himself to the task to honor a request from his friend and co-writer, who died in 2015.
“I didn’t in any real sense of the word have two years of my life to give up to make this, so I wouldn’t have done it if Terry hadn’t died and given me this as his last request,” Gaiman said. He added that “Terry’s wish trumped everything, so we were making it for him” and teased that “the very last thing that happens on the final screen of episode six is just for Terry.”

From Smaug in The Hobbit to Shere Khan in Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle by way of The Grinch, Benedict Cumberbatch has lent his distinct pipes to many a devilish figure in his career. You could therefore argue that it was only a matter of time until the Doctor Strange star provided the voice of Satan himself, with Deadline reporting that Cumberbatch will do the honors in the Amazon Prime Video series Good Omens.
Author and showrunner Neil Gaiman revealed as such during a panel at the Television Critics Association, explaining the actor’s inclusion as follows:
“It’s a giant animated Satan. He turns up and we needed a performance that works. So we found a young British help that needed a lot of direction from Douglas… Benedict Cumberbatch.”

With a premiere booked in for April 2017, the Starz adaptation of American Gods is currently garnering a ton of buzz, as Neil Gaiman’s fable of warring deities prepares to take that defining step onto the small-screen. But Gaiman is already thinking further afield, and we now have official confirmation that the author will develop a six-part miniseries based on Good Omens, the apocalyptic fantasy novel he co-wrote alongside the late, great Terry Pratchett.
Almost a year on from the moment Gaiman began work on the adaptation, Amazon has now struck up a deal with the BBC to bring Good Omens to television. A 2018 release date is the target, when Gaiman’s six-part series will premiere globally via Amazon Prime soon after its UK debut on the BBC. Former Doctor Who producer Caroline Skinner will help executive produce this new series, joined by Chris Sussman, Rob Wilkins, and Rod Brown.

The critically acclaimed BBC Three comedy People Just Do Nothing has won a second series.
The mockumentary series follows the story of the bumbling creators of Brentford's pirate radio station Kurupt FM, self-proclaimed garage legend Mc Grindah and his second-in-command DJ Beats.
The show started out on the BBC's Comedy Feeds in 2012, before getting a full series earlier this year.
"Big up everyone for showing love," said Mc Grindah.
"We have infiltrated the industry and now we're gonna destroy it! ...Well, not destroy it... make it better probably."
The crew's co-star Chabuddy G added: "Ah thank God. I could do with a bit of airtime. These re-usable laser eye surgery kits won't sell themselves."
The five episode series will air on BBC Three in 2015.
Exec producer Ash Atalla joked: "When new talent is this good, and this cheap, the BBC insists on a second series.
"In truth, I think People Just Do Nothing...

Siblings is to return for a second series on BBC Three.
Charlotte Ritchie and Tom Stourton star in the comedy as Hannah and Dan, 'the world's worst brother and sister'.
News of the show's re-commission comes ahead of series one's final episode, which will air tomorrow night (Thursday, September 11) at 10.30pm.
"We've been delighted by how much audiences have enjoyed Dan and Hannah's horrendous and hilarious antics - as played so brilliantly by Tom and Charlotte," said executive producer Simon Wilson.
"We're thrilled the BBC are giving us another chance to unleash the calamitous duo on a whole new set of victims."
Chris Sussman, Comedy Commissioner, added: "Siblings is horrible and brilliant at the same time. Each episode is like a mini-movie, with Dan and Hannah finding new and terrible ways to ruin other people's lives. I can't wait to see what mischief the writers cook up for series two.

Hollywood actor and star of the Twilight franchise, Taylor Lautner is set to join the second series of BAFTA-nominated comedy Cuckoo on BBC Three.
Taylor Lautner starred as Jacob Black in the blockbuster Twilight saga. He will play a handsome and mysterious stranger in the new series of Cuckoo, who turns up in Lichfield where life in the Thompson household is only just getting back to normal after the disappearance of Cuckoo (Andy Samberg) while on walkabout in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Ken (Greg Davies) and Lorna (Helen Baxendale) are looking forward to a future without the kids under their feet. Dylan (Tyger Drew-Honey) is about to go to university and Rachel (Tamla Kari) is rebuilding her life with her new boyfriend, a nice-but-dull lawyer, Ben. Despite appearances, Cuckoo’s absence is still felt – not least by his young widow, Rachel. Everyone worries she’s lost her mojo since the tragic events in Asia.

Long before The Office, there was This is Spinal Tap.
Now the man behind this enduring wonder big screen mockumentary is bringing his gifts to the BBC.
This is Spinal Tap - never bettered...
Christopher Guest, who played 'up to 11' guitarist Nigel Tufnel as well as penning the exploration of what it is to be a rock god, will be creating a documentary-style comedy series for BBC2.
And he's recruited the popular talents of Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids, The It Crowd) for Family Tree, about a man Tom Chadwick looking into his ancestry after losing his job, his girlfriend and his confidence.
Guest is famously mercurial, happy to go for long stretches between projects, but when he does land on something, it is without fail worth watching, and the BBC are suitably chuffed to bring him into their fold.
Just because...
