The way Swedish filmmaker Niclas Larsson describes his trickery of an all-star cast for Mother Couch – led by Ewan McGregor, Ellen Burstyn, Rhys Ifans, Lara Flynn Boyle, Taylor Russell and F. Murray Abraham – you’d have thought he’d mined a CIA manual for Cold War field agents to shoot his directorial debut on a soundstage in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I think a powerful tool for directors is to actually misdirect,” Larsson, a former child actor turned filmmaker, told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Mother Couch, based on the existential novel Mamma i Soffa by Swedish novelist Jerker Virdborg, takes place entirely in a remote furniture store, where Mother (Burstyn) is seated on a green couch and refuses to get up and leave.
That has her three estranged children – David (McGregor), Gruffudd (Ifans) and Linda (Boyle) — questioning with varied trust...

The eighth iteration of Ksi‘s Misfits Boxing series will bring a fresh twist to the influencer boxing fad. On July 22, a showdown in Nashville will feature a main card with a unique format. Four creators — NichLmao, Swarmz, Ryan Johnston, and BDave — will occupy the ring at the same time for a “survivor tag” clash.
Each of the four creators will get their own corner of the ring, but only two combatants will fight at the same time. A social media vote will determine which two participants raise their gloves first. Then, at any point, the starting fighters can force their idle counterparts to “tag in” for them. Anyone who refuses a tag request will be eliminated, and the last fighter left standing will earn the win.
Based on the respective followings of the four participating creators, NichLmao is likely to be voted as one of the two starting fighters.

Rome, June 5 (Ians) Emotions ran high at the San Siro when Zlatan Ibrahimovic, also known as Ibra, announced his retirement after AC Milan’s final match of the 2022-2023 season.
Ibrahimovic, set to turn 42 in October, decided to depart Milan as his contract drew to a close. Before the kick-off of Sunday’s game, the fans in the stands energetically chanted his name and displayed a banner reading “Godbye,” a sight that brought Ibra to tears, reports Xinhua.
The Swedish veteran player, whose previous teams include Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy, began his second spell at Milanello in January 2020, making substantial impacts both on and off the pitch.
However, injuries beset the striker and limited him to just four appearances this season, during which he mostly made cameo appearances and scored only one goal.

Rome, June 5 (Ians) AC Milan closed their 2022-2023 Serie A season with a 3-1 win over Hellas Verona, while Atalanta and Roma secured Europa League places following victories.
Milan had already clinched fourth place before Sunday’s match, and they held a ceremony for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who decided to retire after the season. The Swedish player, hampered by injuries this season, only played four times, mostly in brief appearances, reports Xinhua.
The Rossoneri broke the deadlock before halftime when Brahim Diaz drew a penalty, which Olivier Giroud successfully converted.
Verona equalized in the 72nd minute when Marco Davide Faraoni found the net with a header at the back post.
Milan reclaimed the lead in the 85th minute, with Rafael Leao, who recently inked a new deal, demonstrating his worth with a low strike from outside the box.
In stoppage time, Leao rounded off the win by outmaneuvering the goalkeeper.

This post contains spoilers for the season 3 finale of "Ted Lasso."
"Ted Lasso" was adept at delivering the thrills of a sports drama, with the fall and rise of an underground English football team, while also telling a beautiful story about community, mental health, self-improvement, and being open about emotions.
After three seasons, "Ted Lasso" is seemingly, apparently, as far as we know, done and over. After two very strong seasons, the final season was a very mixed bag, with a lack of focus thanks to longer episodes that dragged on, a sermon-of-the-week format that seemed to take away from the joy of earlier seasons, and a misguided football story that was too obsessed with winning — until it wasn't.
This is (kind of) a football show, of course, meaning the characters' careers and stories carry on after the end of the finale. We know Ted Lasso's career at AFC Richmond is over,...

When Jamie Tartt was first introduced in Ted Lasso, he was nothing but an egomaniac. The character’s sole purpose in the show was to heckle everyone, including Coach Lasso. His only saving grace was possibly his footballing skill, which also failed to flourish properly due to his arrogance. He was a badly-behaved manchild, a terrible teammate, and an even more terrible boyfriend to Keeley Jones, who rightfully broke up with him. Even though former Richmond boss and Rebecca’s ex-husband Rupert Mannion was the main bad guy of the show, Jamie was like a sore thumb in an otherwise wholesome character dynamic in the show. Naturally, when he left for Manchester City after creating a lot of scenes, everyone at Richmond Fc as well as the audience were relieved.

Paris, May 29 (Ians) Paris St Germain’s Kylian Mbappe takes home the trophy — Ligue 1 Player of the Year — for the record fourth consecutive year.
Voted Ligue 1’s best player in 2019, 2021 and 2022, becomes the first player to win the trophy four seasons in a row.
After another exceptional season, the Paris Saint-Germain forward boasts 28 goals and 5 assists in the league.
“It’s a pleasure, I always wanted to win, to write my name into the league’s history. But even with all the ambition I have I didn’t expect to win so quickly,” Mbappe was quoted by France 24.
For the seventh consecutive year, a Paris Saint-Germain player has won the trophy for Player of the Year, following in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2016), Edinson Cavani (2017), Neymar Jr (2018) and Kylian Mbappe.

Season 3 of “Ted Lasso” recruited several new characters both on and off the pitch.
The third installment of the Apple TV+ comedy series builds around AFC Richmond’s snagging one of the best international soccer players, Zava, who boosts Richmond’s record with his goal-scoring. Based primarily off of Zlatan Ibrahimović of Sweden, a striker who Zava resembles, and played by Maximilan Osinski, the “larger than life” player shifts the show’s energy in more ways than one, starting in the locker room.
“It’s always fun to bring these larger-than-life characters on any show, but trying to keep them grounded. We’re not trying to play the real-life version of anyone he was based on, but an amalgamation of those guys, on the show,” Osinski told TheWrap. “Because they do exist and they do influence the world of football, not just in England, and they do change the room...

"Ted Lasso," the Apple TV+ breakout comedy hit, is finally back for more kindness, more Roy Kent, and more football goodness. Even though the World Cup is over, the football fever never stops.
Indeed, season 3 sees AFC Richmond reach the big leagues and play in the Premier League, with the season finally having a good sense of direction. But kindness, shortbread, and a good attitude are not enough to make it in the big leagues against the big teams. You need something else. The answer, as the latest episode seems to indicate, is a football superstar with an ego to match — Zava. In episode two, the former Juventus player decides to join Richmond after getting his ego struck and being promised to be the team's biggest superstar.
Zava rules. He is instantly a standout character, a memorable player with incredible skills and a personality to match. Even if Jamie Tartt is hurt and jealous,...

There’s a new star on the pitch. The third episode of Ted Lasso’s third season introduced a soccer player so famous he goes by a one-word moniker — Zava.
Played by Agents of Shield star Maximilian Osinski, Zava will have more screen time as the season unfolds, and the actor is still pinching himself. “I couldn’t believe it at first,” says Osinski, who is married to actress Dichen Lachman, featured on another Apple TV+ hit, Severance. “You watch a show for two years as a fan and never imagine that one day you’ll be in a scene standing opposite Jason Sudeikis.”
Co-creator Brendan Hunt, an executive producer who also plays Coach Beard, says Zava was inspired by some of the sport’s “more colorful divas” including “a lot” of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. “Zlatan is among the most unique of that breed of God-gifted lunatic.”
The Swedish superstar, who now plays for A.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Ted Lasso,” Season 3, Episode 2, “(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea”.]
In this week’s episode of “Ted Lasso,” (almost) everyone knows what Zava can do. He’s the kind of soccer star who can inspire gasps and giddy reactions to everyone from team executives to his fellow players.
“He merely is Zava. Much as the wind is to the cliff, he is Zava. He just has no regard for the small things that a coach may try to do. He has no disregard either. He’s a force of nature,” series cast member and writer Brendan Hunt told IndieWire.
So, to make that larger-than-life reputation feel real, actor Maximilian Osinski knew he had to make his introduction a mystery, even down to how he talks. Zava doesn’t speak much in his debut episode, and when he does, his voice is intentionally hard to pin down.

[This story contains spoilers for season three, episode two of Ted Lasso.]
The second episode of Ted Lasso’s third season puts the title character on the sidelines for much of its running time, focusing instead on Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Roy (Brett Goldstein) and a couple new additions to the AFC Richmond locker room.
One of those newcomers is someone the show has previously introduced: Trent Crimm (James Lance), no longer of The Independent. Trent pitches writing a book about Richmond’s return to the Premier League for the season, which Ted agrees to over the strenuously mimed objections of Rebecca, Higgins (Jeremy Swift) and Keeley (Juno Temple).
Most of “(I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea” — taking its title from the Elvis Costello and the Attractions song — takes place, however, not at Richmond’s home base but at Stamford Bridge, the home of top-flight club (in the Lasso-verse, if not the current real-life Premier League table) Chelsea. Rome, March 19 (Ians) Zlatan Ibrahimovic chalked up another record on Saturday, becoming the oldest goalscorer in Serie A, but it was not enough as AC Milan capitulated to Udinese 3-1 away.
The Rossoneri were in dire need of a boost after only snatching one point from the previous two rounds. Olivier Giroud sat out, so Ibrahimovic got his first start this season on late Saturday night.
The home side took a good start just nine minutes into the game, when Milan defender Ismael Bennacer’s wayward pass sparked their counter-attack. Lazar Samardzic charged forward and assisted Roberto Pereyra to finish with a low strike, a Xinhua report said.
The moment came in the 45th minute, when Ibrahimovic converted a retaken penalty, which made him the oldest goalscorer aged 41 years and 166 days. The previous record was set by another Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta who also scored against Udinese through a spot-kick...

Rome, March 14 (Ians) AC Milan were rusty at San Siro as they managed 24 attempts but had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Salernitana in Serie A.
After having eliminated Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League last week, the Rossoneri entered Monday’s game without any Italian players in their starting line-up.
The home side were aggressive from the beginning and strung together a run of plays, but couldn’t break the deadlock until the 45th minute, when Olivier Giroud headed home from Ismael Bennacer’s corner.
Salernitana got back on level terms on the hour mark when Domagoj Bradaric rolled across from the left, with Antonio Candreva’s smart run drawing out defender Pierre Kalulu to allow an unmarked Boulaye Dia to drill home from close range.
Bennacer thought he had won a penalty for Milan afterwards, but it was overruled by Var.

In the second-most-overblown scene from HBO’s oppressively/gloriously overblown dramedy The Newsroom, Will McAvoy refuses — because he’s a time-traveler from the future with 20/20 hindsight on all things — to go along with the prevailing media narrative in the aftermath of the 2011 shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. He boldly declares, “A doctor pronounces her dead, not the news!”

Rome, Feb 27 (Ians) AC Milan registered their fourth consecutive win on all fronts as they cruised past Atalanta 2-0 in Serie A, with Mike Maignan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back into action.
AC Milan entered San Siro with Maignan standing between the sticks, as the French goalkeeper hadn’t featured for the Rossoneri since last October and missed the World Cup due to a recurring calf injury, reports Xinhua news agency.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a stroke of luck as Theo Hernandez’s volley out of the box hit the upright, but it struck off goalie Juan Musso’s back and ricocheted into the net.

Guillaume Canet’s ambitious 64M euros (70M) production Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom was on track to be the top opener at the French box office on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen whether the film can match the success of its predecessors.
Pathé released the title on 950 screens across France in the biggest theatrical launch of early 2023 for local productions. The mini-major bankrolled the film and is also a producer alongside Alain Attal’s Tresor Films and Yohan Baiada at Les Enfants Terribles.
In first figures for the Paris region, which can be a bellwether for box office performance across the rest of the country, especially for mainstream local productions like Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom, the film scored the strongest opening.
By 2 pm local time, the film had drawn 9,091 spectators in 84 theaters, split between 3,274 admissions on 29 screens in the city and 5,817 admissions in outer Paris.

Rome (Italy), Jan. Jan 25 (Ians) Former champions AC Milan almost lost their Scudetto hope as they found themselves 12 points behind leaders Napoli after a 4-0 away defeat to Lazio.
The Rossoneri had a poor start to the new year as they suffered back-to-back draws in Serie A, an exit in the Coppa Italia and a 3-0 Supercoppa defeat to Inter Milan.
Theo Hernandez was added to Milan’s injury list, alongside Mike Maignan, Fode Ballo-Toure, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi, while Lazio had to do without trump card Ciro Immobile.
Lazio put their noses ahead just four minutes into the game on Tuesday night Mattia Zaccagni rolled across from the left, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic swept it into the box.
The Biancocelesti doubled the lead before the break as Adam Marusic’s angle drive hit the post but it was prodded into the net by Zaccagni.

Ruben Östlund’s Oscar contender Triangle of Sadness continues to build award buzz, on Monday night sweeping Sweden’s Guldbagge Awards, taking six trophies, including Best Film and Best Director.
The capitalism satire also picked up Best Supporting Actress trophy for Dolly de Leon, the Filipino breakout whose turn in Triangle as Abigail —a cleaner on a luxury yacht who becomes the de facto leader of the one-percenters left over after a shipwreck —has put her on Hollywood’s radar.
Croatian actor Zlatko Burić, a scene-stealer in Triangle as the obnoxious Russian billionaire Dimitry, took the Best Supporting Actor nod, just a month after scooping the same prize at the European Film Awards. Sofie Krunegård also won the Guldbagge for Best Costume Design for Triangle, and Stefanie Gredig took the award for Best Make-Up.

The Soccer Football Movie is an animation movie directed by Mitch Schauer that features the voices of none other than Zlatan Ibrahimović, Megan Rapinoe and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic.
Zaltan Ibrahimović was not particularly liked, he has claimed to be better than Messi, and has proclaimed himself “god”… and, he mocks himself, and his cavalier attitude, which his peculiar humor.
Premise
Four young soccer superfans team up to help their idols regain their abilities after a scheming evil scientist steals their talent.
About the Movie
A movie for kids that is fun and entertaining with its “super-protagonist”, who appears to really want to shine (we doubt any of comments would offend him). We liked Zlatan and now becomes even more likeable with “buffoonery”.
The movie is entertaining, although it can be seen as a vehicle to for this man to self-promote. His name is mentioned more times than Le Bron’s in Space Jam.

Berlin, Sep 15 (Ians) It might not have been his best game, but Erling Haaland’s winning goal in Manchester City’s Champions League encounter against Borussia Dortmund is certainly in the charts of football’s most artistic goals.
His 13th goal in the City in nine games triggered a wave of astonishment, not only among his former teammates of Dortmund that he left only 122 days ago.
“Not many players kick the ball at a similar height,” Dortmund coach Edin Terzic assumed, as German media came up with headlines expressing the greatest admiration.
Spanish newspaper Diario As is assumed to have seen a “goal going around the world.”
German TV reckoned the 22-year-old could easily paint the ceilings of a flat by foot.
Former Norwegian international Jan Aage Fjortoft spoke of a “Zlatan-like masterpiece” reminding of similar artistic goals created by Swedish icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic, reports Xinhua.

We get a view of Zlatan Ibrahimovic any number of defenders have seen, his back advancing across the pitch. Ajax' stadium looming over, the Amsterdam Arena that now takes its name from another club legend, Johan Cruijff. "Do you want a special position?" asks the coach, sending him away. Glossy black sportscar to his house, where sports journalists ask what they have to say to make this immigrant go away. That's not subtext, nor hyperbole. The clips are out there, still. Zlatan is a player who made, and has, history.
There's an indicative moment when he does not pass the ball. We're minutes into the film when there's a reminder, not a repetition, that's both reprise and precursor. Football is a team sport, but Zlatan is a figure alone. From the balcony where he uses a Cruyff turn to keep the ball away from a younger sibling, even when there are.

"You could try passing sometimes." "To you? Then we wouldn't last long." Signature Ent. has revealed the official UK trailer for a feature film called I Am Zlatan, a biopic about the beloved soccer / football player Zlatan Ibrahimović. This Swedish-Danish co-production first premiered at the 2021 Rome Film Festival last year, and is set to open in the UK this June. It has spring + summer release dates in Europe but nothing in the US arranged yet. Son of Balkan immigrants Zlatan Ibrahimovic, born in Sweden, becomes, after a rough childhood, a Swedish football champion of several decades. Born in Malmö to Bosnian & Croatian parents, he got his break playing for Malmö Ff in 1999. He currently plays for AC Milan - which is why Italy premiered the film and released it before everyone else. This is a story about his upbringing and childhood, and his early years playing professional football for Ajax in Amsterdam.

Rome, March 22 (Ians) Juventus's hopes of winning the Serie A title took a major hit after a morale-sapping 1-0 home defeat to Benevento, as Arthur Melo's howler allowed the newly-promoted side to leave Allianz Stadium with all three points.
It was the second time that Juve dropped points against Filippo Inzaghi's side this season, after they played out a 1-1 draw earlier in the season, Xinhua news agency reported.
With Paulo Dybala, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Sandro injured, Federico Bernardeschi started at left-back, while Cristiano Ronaldo partnered Alvaro Morata upfront during the game on Sunday.
Juve dominated possession from the beginning but failed to break down a compact Benevento defense, with an effort from Ronaldo chalked off after the Portuguese had wandered offside in the build-up.

Milan, March 19 (Ians) Substitute Paul Pogba struck just minutes after his half-time introduction to give Manchester United a 1-0 win at AC Milan to progress 2-1 on aggregate to the last eight of the Europa League.
Midfielder Pogba, on his return from injury, fired in high at the near post in the 49th minute on Thursday to give United the honours in the battle between former European champions, Dpa reported.
United led the first leg at Old Trafford until being denied victory by an injury-time equalizer but made no mistake in the return despite a lethargic first half.

"Second half it always helps to have a world class player like Paul (Pogba) to make a difference and he did that.

Milan, March 4 (Ians) Franck Kessie's late penalty saved AC Milan from a home defeat in Serie A, as the Rossoneri drew with Udinese 1-1. Milan have managed just one win in its last three matches and needed another to keep pace on the table.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic sidelined, Rafael Leao started as a makeshift center-forward while Alessio Romagnoli returned to the starting line-up on Wednesday, Xinhua news reports.
Udinese were close to breaking the deadlock right after the interval as Theo Hernandez's wayward back pass led to Ilija Nestorovski's header, but Romagnoli cleared it off the line.
The away side went ahead in the 69th minute as Rodrigo Becao jumped to meet a corner, and Milan's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma should have done better to prevent the ball from hitting the net.
It seemed to be all over deep into stoppage time, but Jens Stryger Larsen's unnecessary handball awarded Milan a penalty.

Rome, Feb 22 (Ians) The highly-anticipated Milan derby turned out to be a lop-sided one, as Inter Milan swept aside city rivals AC Milan 3-0, with Lautaro Martinez bagging a brace and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic playing heroics.
It was the most eye-catching Derby della Madonnina in recent years, not only because it was a head-to-head for the top spot, with only one point separating the two teams, but also because of the clash between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku, as the Swede was suspected of racially insulting his former Manchester United teammate in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals last month, Xinhua news reports.

Rome, Jan 19 (Ians) Zlatan Ibrahimovic's double helped AC Milan enjoy a 2-0 victory away to Cagliari in their latest encounter, despite Alexis Saelemaekers's red card.
With Rafael Leao suspended, and Theo Hernandez and Hakan Calhanoglu having tested positive for Covid-19, Milan on Monday evening started with Diogo Dalot and Jens Hauge, while Brahim Diaz roamed behind Ibrahimovic, reports Xinhua news agency.
The Rossoneri broke the deadlock just seven minutes into the game as Ibrahimovic was brought down in the box. The Swede kept his composure to convert the spot-kick.
The away side doubled the lead in the 52nd minute as Davide Calabria's cross-field ball found Ibrahimovic, who turned in from point-blank range.
The goal was initially ruled out for offside, but a Var check overturned the decision.
The downside for the Diavolo was Saelemaekers's sending off, with the Belgian collecting two yellow cards just eight minutes after coming on as a substitute.
