When both Claire Fraser and Lord John Gray look like their worlds are ending, it can only mean one thing: Something very bad has befallen James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser.

Earlier this year, HBO released the second season of its Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, and proceeded to knock all our socks off with the epic scale of its special effects. Has there ever been a clash between dragons in the sky like the Battle of Rook's Rest? I certainly can't think of one.
We'll be waiting a while to see what happens next for the series; House of the Dragon won't start filming season 3 until early 2025, which means we won't be watching it until 2026. In the meantime, we tide ourselves over with snippets of news and glimpses behind the scenes. The latest of those comes courtesy of Vanity Fair, which sat down with showrunner Ryan Condal to discuss what went into filming some of House of the Dragon's biggest scenes for their new interview series The Craft Of...

We have a while to wait before we get to see new episodes of House of the Dragon, HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series, but the cast members are keeping busy in the meantime. At the moment, Emma D'Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) is starring in a Greek myth-inspired drama called The Other Place at the National Theatre in London. D'Arcy is incredibly compelling onscreen and I can easily imagine them commanding the stage as well.
That said, the National Theater is an ocean away from where I live, so I doubt I'll be taking it in. But D'Arcy's House of the Dragon castmates live much closer. In a video on X, we can see House of the Dragon stars Harry Collett (who plays Rhaenyra's son Jace) and Ewan Mitchell (who plays her younger half-brother Aemond) showing up to watch their colleague work:

Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) new dragonriders, Ulf (Tom Bennett), Hugh (Kieran Bew) and Addam (Clinton Liberty) adjust to life in Dragonstone. House Lannister knight Ser Tyland (Jefferson Hall) treats with pirates. Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) continues her search for a wild dragon in the Vale of Arryn. “House of the Dragon” hit a Season 2 high in viewership with Sunday’s finale, which drew 8.9 million multiplatform viewers across HBO and Max, per Warner Bros. Discovery.
That’s up 14% from the Season 2 premiere night, which garnered 7.8 million viewers. However, it is down from the audience size for the first season finale of “House of the Dragon” in 2022.
After premiering with 10 million viewers in June 2022, “House of the Dragon” Season 1 hit its peak with Episode 2, reaching 10.2 million. Exact data was not made available for Episodes 3-9, but Episode 10 closed the season with 9.3 million viewers.
Warner Bros. Discovery attributed the season opener declines to a drop in linear viewing, as fewer viewers now watch on HBO’s cable channel. But on the flip side, the conglom reports that Sunday’s “House of the Dragon” finale has now led to the biggest streaming day ever for Max, both in the U.S.

This article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2 episode 8 and details from Fire & Blood that could spoil House of the Dragon season 3.
Did you find yourself a little disappointed with the House of the Dragon season 2 finale? You weren’t alone on that front.
Season two’s final episode appeared to stop just short of some real action. While Daemon resolved his family issues and Rhaenyra and Alicent resolved…whatever it is they have going on, the Dance of the Dragons civil war appeared to be stuck in a holding pattern on House of the Dragon.
Still, the final five minutes of the season 2 finale do act as a sort of sizzle reel for the action to come in season 3 as we see several armies and navies advance across the Westerosi landscape to parts unknown. With that in mind, let’s take stock of all the various factions on the board,...

Spoilers for Episode 7 of House of the Dragon
While not much is known about how Targaryens are able to interact with dragons, it’s widely believed that braveness is one major key to taming the beasts. Although similar was the case with Kieran Bew’s Hugh Hammer, who successfully claims Vermithor, the second largest dragon in The Realm, it’s the next case that left many fans befuddled.
The penultimate episode further sees Ulf becoming the new rider of Silverwing, and even showrunner Ryan Condal didn’t have a firm explanation behind Silvering’s reasoning for choosing Ulf.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "House of the Dragon."
Both "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon" have cultivated fascinating relationships with their respective source material. The former infamously outpaced the publication of author George R.R. Martin's fantasy series titled "A Song of Ice and Fire," flying off a cliff like Wile E. Coyote once it exhausted the books at its disposal and forced to build the rest of its runway in midair flight ... and, yeah, you remember how that ended. The latter, meanwhile, came with the baggage of a thoroughly unconventional book to adapt. "Fire & Blood" is the furthest thing from a traditional novel, instead chronicling the feats of the Targaryen dynasty in Westeros from the perspective of an in-universe historian. Reliant on fictional secondhand sources and a mix of conjecture and personal bias, the author paints a broad portrait of historical events centuries after the fact.

As unexpected as this surprise nod was, it came out through Kieran Bew’s Hugh the Hammer in one of the most awe-inspiring moments in the entire lore after he managed to tame the “Bronze Fury.” And as per what all the dots connect to, Saera is the very daughter of King Jaehaerys who went on to become a prostitute in the books.

This article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2 episode 7 and details for Fire & Blood.
There’s just one episode left in House of the Dragon season 2, and while the Greens have the might of Vhagar and the unhinged Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), the Blacks have just added some (literal) firepower to their team in the form of some new dragonseeds. Those who’ve read George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood Targaryen history will know the Red Sowing is an important part of the war, with Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) recruiting Targaryen bastards to her cause.
There have been some notable gaps in the dragonrider count recently, with the absence of Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) leaving Seasmoke riderless while Vermithor and Silverwing lurked in Dragonstone’s Dragonmount. Episode 7 “The Red Sowing” saw Hugh Hammer (Kieran Bew) claim Verminthor as his own during one of the show’s bloodiest scenes.

Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and the rest of Team Black have officially reached their limit in that regard, answering Team Green's superior numbers and strength on the field by flying headfirst into one of the most dangerous and ill-advised gambits the Seven Kingdoms have ever seen. The dragon riders storyline has been carefully set up over the last few episodes, positioning various contenders across the continent who might happen to possess...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 7, “The Red Sowing.”] Rhaenyra has found her dragonriders. In true Game of Thrones fashion, House of the Dragon delivered its most exciting episode of the season one week before its finale, at last putting Rhaenyra’s (Emma D’Arcy) theory about dragonseeds to the ultimate test. She and Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) were right that Targaryen bastards could be accepted by a dragon, but not all. Many lives were lost in the search for riders for Vermithor and Silverwing. But found, they were. Just like in George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, there are now three dragonriders: Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty), Hugh (Kieran Bew), and Ulf (Tom Bennett). Addam was chosen by Seasmoke in Episode 6 and was recognized by his father, Corlys (Steve Toussaint), in Episode 7 for the first time because of it. Here, Liberty breaks down what this means for Addam and older brother...

“House of the Dragon” Season 2, Episode 7 saw Jace’s plan for the Dragonseeds find some success.
After a botched attempt to bond Steffon Darklyn with Seasmoke, the penultimate episode saw as Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) flew off after news arrived that the dragon was seen with a new rider. Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty) sat atop Laenor’s old dragon and quickly bent the knee for Team Black.
Upon learning that the dragonseeds need not necessarily be highborn, Rhaenyra put out the call in King’s Landing for all bastards with Valyrian blood to come to Dragonstone and attempt to bond with one of the remaining dragons. The ones who come find the Sowing to be a bloody affair — until finally, the queen has some luck.

Time to set two more places at the annual Targaryen family barbecue (tagline: “Where Everyone’s Meat Is Well Done”)!
This week’s House of the Dragon tackles an event in Westeros’ history known as The Red Sowing, in which Rhaenyra gathers up a whole bunch of her family’s illegitimate offspring and hopes that some of them will be able to make friends with/not get broiled by Team Black’s remaining, riderless dragons. And she turns out to be right about two of the “dragonseeds”… and wrong about all the others. Eh, details!

Editor’s Note: The following post contains spoilers for “House of the Dragon” Season 2, up to and including Episode 7.
Any “Game of Thrones” fan knows the significance of a penultimate episode. From “Baelor” to “The Rains of Castamere” to “Hardhome” and more, the world of Westeros holds nothing back ahead of its finale, and “House of the Dragon” Season 2 joins that noble tradition.
Episode 7, written by David Hancock and directed by Loni Peristere, spends half of its runtime on exposition — and the other half auditioning dragon riders for Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) to win back the high ground in her family’s civil war. The hour contains some stunning score work from Ramin Djawadi and shots by cinematographer Vanja Cernjul, and an A story anchored by D’Arcy’s performance and Rhaenyra’s drive.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for HBO’s “House of the Dragon” Season 2, Episode 7, titled “The Red Sowing,” now streaming on Max.
In the closing moments of Sunday’s episode of “House of the Dragon,” Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) finally got the upper hand on the Greens with the stunning reveal that she has found three new dragonriders to join the Blacks’ cause: Hugh (Kieran Bew), Ulf (Tom Bennett) and Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty) — one of the illegitimate sons of her Hand, Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint).
The news was revealed (loudly) to Rhaenyra’s brother Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), the prince regent, while their brother King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) is in recovery, when Aemond sees a dragon flying over King’s Landing — and then heads over to Dragonstone on his massive dragon, Vhagar. Spoiler Alert! This story contains details from Sunday’s episode of House of the Dragon titled “The Red Sowing.”
Rhaenyra has finally found someone to occupy the prickly back of Vermithor.
In Sunday’s episode of the HBO drama, the queen (Emma D’Arcy) has a casting call, of sorts, for local dragonseeds who could master a fire breather for war. Many people perished during the deadly audition — except for a brave bloke named Hugh Hammer.
Does that mean Hugh has some sort of Targaryen blood pulsing through his bastard veins? Maybe, maybe not. One thing’s for sure, though: Vermithor is all his to ride.
Here, the U.K. actor who plays Hugh talks about shooting the pivotal scene and whether he’ll stick around Westeros for a good long time.
Deadline Isn’t that cool? You can say you have a dragon now. That’s your identity.
Kieran Bew Yeah.

This article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2 episode 6 and details from Fire & Blood that will spoil future moments of the show.
The Blacks are facing a big problem on House of the Dragon. Their ancestral seat of Dragonstone is teeming with dragons and yet they’re running low on Targaryens to actually ride them to war.
Thankfully, in season 2 episode 5 “Regent,” Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Prince Jacaerys (Harry Collett) dream up an ingenious solution: dragonseeds. Due to the Targaryen family’s prolific sexual appetites, there are plenty folks in the Seven Kingdoms who have a little bit of the “blood of the dragon” in them even if they don’t have a Targaryen surname. Perhaps Rhaenyra’s supporters can track down some of these folks and see how they take to the skies.
It’s a solid plan, but will it work? Who are these dragonrider...

Cobra Kai Season 6 is finally here and it’s even better than the last one, which no one thought was possible. The Netflix series follows the story of Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka), who has kind of left bullying and turned into a karate instructor. The series continues the story of the 1984 film The Karate Kid, in which Johnny lost the “All Valley Karate Tournament” to his enemy Daniel (Ralph Macchio). In the series, Johnny inspires weak kids to learn karate so that they can stand up to their bullies and fight to protect themselves. Still, everything goes wrong in a very entertaining way and many iconic characters from the Karate Kid movies appear in the series. So, if you love the teen drama, action comedy, and martial arts in Cobra Kai here are some similar shows you could watch while waiting for Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 2.

Spoiler Alert!Spoilers for House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5
The remnants of the previous episode, The Red Dragon and the Gold, are still felt in the latest installment of the House of the Dragon. Season 2 Episode 5 saw the consequences of the battle among the Targaryen kins – Rhaenys, Aegon, and Aemond – at Rook’s Rest.
Meleys in House of the Dragon / HBO
With Rhaenys and Meleys gone forever, Aegon grappling with death on his bed like his dragon Sunfyre (who is left behind in the forest), and Aemond now the Prince Regent, the next sequences in the show will be much more nerve-wracking.
Meleys Scene In King’s Landing Mirrors Robb Stark’s Gruesome Death In Game Of Thrones
Episode 5 opens with the severed head of Meleys paraded in the streets of King’s Landing. The poor fly-ridden corpse of the dragon gets exhibited to the curiosity of the smallfolk people.

Tread carefully: This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "House of the Dragon" and spoilers for the book, "Fire & Blood."
If the ending of "House of the Dragon" season 2, episode 5, titled "Regent," is anything to go by, the next stage of the Dance of the Dragons is about to kick into gear, and it may forever alter the balance of power in the Seven Kingdoms. Those who've found themselves wishing for "more action" throughout this deliberately-paced season 2 so far could end up regretting those words -- especially since, as we've seen, adding more dragons into the mix tends to come with dire results. Unfortunately, the main issue facing Team Black is an alarming lack of firepower to compete with the might of the one-eyed Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and his fearsome beast Vhagar, particularly following the loss of Princess Rhaenys (Eve Best) and her dragon Meleys in the Battle at Rook's Rest.

“House of the Dragon” drew 8.1 million viewers across HBO and Max in the U.S. for its fiery fourth episode of Season 2 on Sunday, just besting the audience size for the premiere last month.
On June 16, “House of the Dragon” debuted its second season to 7.8 million viewers, putting the Season 2 premiere 22% below the 10 million viewers that the “Game of Thrones” prequel series launched to in 2022.
Per Warner Bros. Discovery, the premiere of “House of the Dragon” Season 2 is now approaching 25 million viewers, and catch-up viewing over the Fourth of July holiday led “House of the Dragon” Season 2 to its “strongest week yet” on Max between July 1-7.

Into the Badlands is “a high-octane sci-fi martial arts series” created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The AMC series is set in a dystopian future with humanity in ruins because of wars, and it follows the story of Sunny, a fierce warrior who rescues a teenager with a bounty on his head. They both journey through a dangerous territory known as the Badlands to survive. Into the Badlands stars Daniel Wu in the lead role, with Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, and Nick Frost starring in supporting roles. Into the Badlands is a unique series with a unique setting, and that’s why it is hard to find a series with a similar setting and story elements, but we have tried very hard to find shows with similar story elements and many high-octane action sequences.

This article contains spoilers for House of the Dragon season 2 episode 2 and references characters from Fire & Blood.
Things are heating up in House of the Dragon season 2, and as the Greens and the Blacks are rocked by losses on both sides, the clash known as the Dance of Dragons shows no signs of slowing down. To compete with all these cast departures, there’s been an influx of new blood in season 2, with episode 2 “Rhaenyra the Cruel” focusing on some major players.
The show’s latest episode cued up expanded roles for Clinton Liberty’s Addam of Hull and Kieran Bew’s Hugh Hammer, both of who will become important figures moving forward. However, an altogether more important member of the Green Team was given the nod. Yes, someone finally acknowledged Daeron Targaryen.

Through its first two episodes, House of the Dragon season 2 has developed an admirable rhythm.

Demonstrating the formidable strength of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” empire, the network has renewed “House of the Dragon” for Season 3, in advance of its Season 2 premiere on June 16.
The “Game of Thrones” spinoff series — co-created by Ryan Condal and “Thrones” author George R.R. Martin — has proven to be a fire-breathing hit for the network. The show enjoyed the biggest premiere audience ever for an original series for both HBO and HBO Max (now Max), and the first season averaged 29 million viewers an episode over linear and streaming. It was renewed for Season 2 just one week following its series premiere.
Based on author Martin’s “Game of Thrones” book “Fire & Blood,” “House of the Dragon” follows the Targaryen dynasty in the fictional continent of Westeros. It takes place nearly 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones” and about 100 years after the Targaryens united the Seven Kingdoms.

The hectic inaugural season of House of the Dragon covered roughly 20 years as the long-standing peace under King Viserys came to an end. In the season’s final two episodes, the series found its footing, establishing the parallel claims to the throne between the Black faction that follows Viserys’s appointed heir, daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), and the Green faction under Rhaenyra’s former best friend, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), who follow Alicent and Viserys’s young, impetuous son Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney).
All the table setting and time jumping that dominated the better part of the first season have, perhaps inevitably, set the stage for a much stronger second season for House of the Dragon. It’s also, especially for a Game of Thrones property, surprisingly restrained. The first four episodes made available to press cover only a few weeks, and the entire opening episode, “A Son for a Son,...
