Dianne Doan's a Canadian actress. She was born on September 8, 1990 in Abbotsford, British Columbia to parents of Vietnamese descent. Her grandmother's half Chinese, making Doan 1/8 Chinese.
She first developed an interest in acting in the 9th grade when she took drama classes as an elective. She started technical training in dance at the 10. Later, she performed as a dancer at the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony & as a back-up dancer for Michael Bublé. In addition, she has worked as a dancer in music videos for other recording artists like Big Time Rush & Marianas Trench. She has even worked on Fox's So You Think You Can Dance.
While she's made small appearances on shows like ABC's Once Upon a Time & TV Land's Impastor, her big break came when she was cast in the Disney Channel TV film Descendants as Lonnie, the daughter of Mulan & Shang. That expanded into a successful franchise, including a prequel live-action mini series, a sequel & an animated spin-off.
In 2016, she was cast in the History Channel's Vikings as Yidu. Afterwards, she starred in a major role in Verizon (go90) & Awesomeness TV's web-series Guidance, where she played twin sisters.
In 2017, she joined the cast of Cinemax's Warrior as Mai Ling. The series is produced by filmmaker Justin Lin & based on an original concept by the late Bruce Lee.
