Exclusive: Eunice Bae has landed the final series-regular role in the Jon Hamm-led series Your Friends & Neighbors. Details regarding her character are under wraps.
The new Apple Original drama series is created by Jonathan Tropper. Bae joins previously announced stars Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Lena Hall, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Aimee Carrero, Isabel Gravitt and Donovan Colan.
Your Friends & Neighbors follows Coop (Hamm), a recently divorced hedge fund manager who, after being fired, resorts to stealing from the wealthy residents in his tony upstate New York suburb to keep his family’s lifestyle afloat. These petty crimes begin to reinvigorate him until he breaks into the wrong house at the wrong time.
Craig Gillespie (Physical) is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce. Additionally, Emmy winners Greg Yaitanes and Stephanie Laing are set to direct three episodes each. The project reunites Lee and Tropper who worked together on Max’s Warrior, a series created by the latter. The project hails from Apple Studios.
Tropper, who served as showrunner for Apple’s See and has an overall deal with the streamer, created Your Friends & Neighbors and will serve as showrunner. He will exec produce alongside Hamm, Gillespie and Connie Tavel.
Bae has most recently been seen in Fallout, Special Ops: Lioness and Blue Bloods. Additionally, she has appeared in the feature film Dakota, and on Broadway in the Tony-winning revival of The Skin of Our Teeth, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. She is repped by Boals, Winnett & Associates and Center Stage Management.

Well, this one's a true shocker.
Max has made the shocking decision to cancel Warrior.
The decision comes months after Warrior Season 3 wrapped on the streaming service.
Max rarely releases viewership statistics like many other streaming services, so it's difficult to assess how well the show performed.
The only good news to come from the cancellation is that Netflix has picked up the rights to past episodes of the series.
Deadline first reported the news, revealing that the show is set to hit Netflix in February 2024.
If the show proves to be a success with the service's subscribers, it could lead to additional seasons being produced.
Netflix has picked up many canceled shows in the past, including Cobra Kai, Longmire, and Manifest, so the company could be seen as a decent destination to get fresh episodes.
If the series does secure a reprieve at Netflix, it would mark its third U.

Martial arts drama Warrior has been cancelled by Sky – but there’s an outside chance that Netflix may make more episodes.
Before he became an international kung fu superstar thanks to films like Way Of The Dragon, in which he famously went hand to hand with Chuck Norris in Rome’s Colosseum, and Enter The Dragon (which features an equally iconic climactic battle which takes place in a hall of mirrors), Bruce Lee was an integral part of what made seminal 1960s show The Green Hornet a huge success.
Although his film career soon took off, had things turned out differently Lee would have continued to make an impact on the small screen. He’s generally accepted as being involved in creating the concept for Kung Fu, the drama that eventually starred David Carradine as Kwai Chang Caine, the pacifist who ended up in several fights every week.

The revival of Warrior at Max turned out to be short-lived: The Warner Bros. Discovery streamer has canceled the show after its first season as a Max original and third overall.
That said, the series — based on writings by Bruce Lee and set in 19th century San Francisco — will potentially get in front of more viewers beginning in February 2024 as all three seasons will stream on Netflix. Warrior will continue to be available on Max as well, similar to other non-exclusive streaming licensing deals Wbd has made with Netflix for HBO shows like Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers and Ballers.

Max’s “Warrior,” a breakthrough series boasting one of the few Asian ensembles on television, has been canceled after three seasons. The series’ repeats will live on, however, via a off-net deal with Netflix, which has acquired the series’ run in a non-exclusive deal and could now potentially expose it to a new audience. (The show will also continue to be available on Max.)
“Warrior” returned for its third season in June after a two-year hiatus. The show originally ran on linear cabler Cinemax (starting in 2019), and was revived after a fan base campaign. Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Perry Yung, Langley Kirkwood, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Chelsea Muirhead, Mark Dacascos and Joe Taslim star.

Warrior won’t be returning for a fourth season on Max.
However, the existing three seasons of the martial arts crime drama are set to find additional audiences as Netflix has picked up the series’ library in a co-exclusive deal with Max in Warner Bros. Discovery streamer’s markets.
Warrior is expected to debut on Netflix in February 2024. If it does well, Netflix could presumably order a new season of the drama based on an original concept and treatment by Bruce Lee, sources tell Deadline exclusively.
This latest move sets Warrior in its third home in as many years. The series premiered in 2019 on Cinemax where it ran for two seasons before it was announced in early 2020 that the network was moving out of the Originals business. Stacchi's “The Monkey King” is a computer-animated and English language adaptation of the classic novel “Journey to the West” from the Ming Dynasty. It was elected as the closing film at the 22nd New York Asian Film Festival in July 2023 and later released worldwide on Netflix. Also credited as the executive producer, Hong Kong filmmaker and comedy superstar Stephen Chow who played the Monkey King in his two-part “A Chinese Odyssey” (1995) and directed “Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons” (2013) is certainly no stranger to the Monkey King film series.

The 16th century literary classic Journey to the West is the mother of all Chinese fantasy. The mythological saga has spawned countless adaptations in various media across Asia and beyond, from the cult late ‘70s Japanese TV series to Peking Opera, videogames, graphic novels and a stage spectacle with a score by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and design elements by Gorillaz illustrator Jamie Hewlett.
Prominent among the innumerable film versions is the 2013 blockbuster Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons, directed by Stephen Chow. A similar livewire action-comedy energy infuses Netflix’s The Monkey King, a children’s animated feature based on the sprawling novel’s most popular strand, on which Chow serves as executive producer.

To become one of the Immortal Ones, the famous Monkey King, or so he fancies himself, must fight 100 demons.
The Monkey King, available on Netflix’s YouTube channel, follows the title character, Lin, and Stick on an action-packed mission to battle 100 demons and rise to paradise.
Shunned from an early age, the trailer’s opening statement describing Monkey King as “the bravest, most powerful, most spectacular-terrific, amazing-derful” relates to the film’s narrative arc of conquering ego to become a hero and draws parallels to Sun Wukong, a hero of Chinese history.
The First Trailer For “The Monkey King” Features A 500-Year-Old Legend Flying High!
The trailer begins with a narcissistic introduction to the Monkey King, who feels he is the greatest of all monkeys.
Despite being expelled from his home clan for being too different, he appears unbothered and tries to join the far more powerful Immortal Ones, considering himself more than worthy.

Midway through a sword fight in an upcoming episode of Max’s period action drama Warrior, one of the combatants loses her blade and seems on the verge of death at the hands of the man she wants revenge against. He’s so confident in his abilities, though, that he invites her to pick up her weapon and resume, smugly telling her, “You came all this way. It would be a shame to give up now.”
For a while, it seemed that the TV business had given up on Warrior.

“To hell with circumstances. I create opportunities.” Bruce Lee
Max’s Warrior began as an eight-page TV treatment by Bruce Lee which was completely rejected by the networks. Nearly a half-century later, Shannon Lee revitalized her father’s idea for development by Cinemax and enlisted noted director Justin Lin and screenwriter Jonathan Tropper to create the pilot. Warrior was hailed as a rare homegrown tentpole series for Cinemax and got renewed for a second season.
But then in early 2020, Cinemax announced it would no longer commission original shows due to the switch to new streaming platform, HBO Max. Season two was already in the can so it was televised in late 2020. But when Director Justin Lin asked about the possibility of a third season, HBO Max...

The Hollywood Reporter’s Hilton Dresden moderated a conversation with the cast and creative team, including actors Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, Freddy Miyares and Hoon Lee, as well as executive producers Roberto Patino and Ernest Dickerson, who served as writer and director, respectively, for THR Presents, powered by Vision Media.
Each member of the creative team had a different relationship to the original text. Patino bought the comic back in 2005, when it first came out. He explained: “I instantly became hooked. It was a very captivating very terrifying world. I read every episode, all 72 issues, and then about 2016, 11 years later, I came back to it,...

Benjamin Bratt isn’t sure whether he would be able to rise up as a leader in dystopian future like his character, Parco Delgado, in “Dmz.” “It’s tough enough being a dad and a good one at that. It takes a lot of focus, a lot of concentration, a lot of work and a lot of invested time and love, but it is my favorite focus at the moment,” he tells Gold Derby during our recent webchat (watch the exclusive video interview above). But the idea of whether he could do such a thing reinforced something that he truly loved about this story. “It’s when circumstances press upon you enough where it forces you outside of your own perception of yourself and into actions that you might not have otherwise undertaken, where true leaders rise to the occasion.”

Roberto Patino acknowledges that the dystopian themes of “Dmz” have their roots in films like “The Warriors” and “Escape from New York.” But the showrunner wanted to do something completely different with those elements. “We want it to run in the opposite direction of the dystopian tropes and we want to tell a story of an upward slope and a unity of a new start,” he tells us during our recent webchat (watch the video interview above). He also made sure not to get lost or hung up in how America got to the point that it is in the show. “I don’t care how we might get to civil war. That’s not what this show is about. This is a story of people coming together, a story of hope and a story of rebirth.”

HBO Max continues to venture into the comic book landscape but this time it’s Dmz, a series created by Brian Wood and it’s caught in the middle of a second American Civil War that has turned Manhattan into a demilitarized zone; The new show stars Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, and Hoon Lee. This is a limited series packed with only four episodes; however, in today’s television landscape that’s overcrowded with content, is the Dmz something worth going out of the way to see? Well, based on the pilot…not really. To be clear, Dmz is not a bad show. The beginning

In early 2020, Rosario Dawson was acting in “Dmz,” a dystopian adaptation of the DC Comics series about a war-torn version of Manhattan in the midst of a second Civil War. When Covid shutdowns hit, “Dmz” was put on hold, and by the time it resumed last year, Dawson had already acted in “Dopesick,” another timely miniseries about tears in the fabric of American society. By the time she took the stage after the premiere of the first episode of “Dmz” at SXSW last week, she had spent so long contemplating such consequential themes that the weight of the moment overwhelmed her.
“I’m so emotional right now,” she said, welling up. “This is so real for so many people in the world around us.”
A few days later in a phone interview, she reflected on that moment. “It’s crazy to me the opportunities I’ve had to speak to...

It’s not hard to see why a story about a U.S. at war with itself might have seemed especially piquant to producers over the past several years. And, indeed, “Dmz,” HBO Max’s new limited series based on a comic serial, feels capital-r Relevant, as if trying to fit in a civics textbook’s worth of ideas about who we are and what citizenship means into four episodes’ worth of action.
It’s not always seamless. Indeed, the pivots between different areas of “Dmz’s” universe often land thuddingly. We’re following Rosario Dawson’s Alma Ortega, who lost track of her son during a rapid evacuation of New York City as civil war began; some eight years later, she’s broken into what is now the wilds of Manhattan, abandoned by authorities and governed by warlords, in order to find him. Along the way, she finds herself...

They say the devil is in the details, and that is certainly true for the dystopia dazzle that is Ava DuVernay and Roberto Patino’s Dmz.
Having just had its world premiere at SXSW today and set to debut on HBO Max on March 17, the Rosario Dawson, Hoon Lee and Benjamin Bratt-led adaptation of Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli’s comic of the same name can be best summarized in the massive graffiti splayed across a dilapidated Manhattan building in the series – “We’re Still Here.”
Yes, in the agile sociological hands of 13th and When They See Us director DuVernay, it is all still here, even more so in a further broken America. The racial, gender, class warfare and constant betrayal that has been soaked in the soil since before America even became a country is still here in the near future of Dmz and the wound is...

In “Dmz,” the first thing you’ll notice are the colors. Moonlight blue floods the sparse room where Alma (Rosario Dawson) sleeps between shifts. A sickly green shades the bathroom where she’s detoxed before seeing patients. Bright lights smack against black edges in the stadium serving as a detainment center for people trying to cross the border illegally. These opening shots provide a stark impression of an America nearly a decade into its second civil war. Alma works in Brooklyn, as she waits for a path into Manhattan, which is now a demilitarized zone caught between the remaining United States and the so-called Free States of America. It’s also the last place she saw her son, Christian.
New York City, she’s told, is dangerous. The 300,000 non-citizens still inhabiting the island have no government, no police, no laws. They were either stranded or chose to live in anarchy.
