Fresh off conquering the rock world with her all-star new album, Dolly Parton returned to her Tennessee roots Saturday with a rendition of “Rocky Top” at the University of Tennessee’s football game.
The Felice and Boudleaux Bryant-penned classic — which doubles as both an official Tennessee state song and the Volunteers’ fight song — has long been a part of Parton’s live repertoire, and on Saturday, for the University of Tennessee’s big matchup against Number One-ranked Georgia, she got the Neyland Stadium crowd going with “Rocky Top.”

Even the scandals gripping the Ncaa can’t block the excitement that comes with the new college football season. For four months, Saturdays mean tailgating, body-painted fans, cartoonish mascots, and lots of running, passing, and tackling.
EA Sports has captured all of that with Ncaa 2012, out on shelves from today for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It’s an excellent game and a clear improvement over what was already a good game last year. It continues...

Chicago – With only a few tweaks to last year’s very successful edition, “Ncaa Football 11” maintains the franchise’s pole position as the best sports title available. “Madden NFL” is a great game. So are “Mlb The Show,” “NBA 2K,” “FIFA,” and “Tiger Woods PGA Tour.” “Ncaa Football” wins by a field goal.
Video Game Rating: 4.5/5.0
Real-world college football has risen to a point where it’s as dramatically rich as a Hollywood sports movie. Last year, there was rarely a weekend when an underdog didn’t topple a ranked team and it usually happened with unexpected performances from unheralded future stars. How could a college football video game possibly live up to the drama of the actual thing? The team behind “Ncaa Football 11” have found a way to take a medium that uses a “controller” and still make it feel spontaneous, enjoyable, and “uncontrolled.”

NEW YORK -- Al Michaels, the voice of ABC Sports' Monday Night Football, will add the NBA to his duties next season as the lead play-by-play announcer for ABC's NBA coverage, the network announced late Monday. He will call regular season and playoff games, including all of the NBA Finals. Michaels is replacing Brad Nessler, who will continue to announce a mix of games for ABC and lead ESPN's NBA coverage, including the Eastern Conference finals. It is one of the first major moves by ABC Sports senior vp and executive producer Michael Pearl, who joined the network this summer after working for Turner Sports. Michaels, perhaps best known for his "Do you believe in miracles?" call of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team, has covered five Super Bowls, eight World Series, and three Stanley Cup Finals. "Al Michaels has been ABC Sports' signature announcer and has often anchored the network's biggest events," Pearl said in a statement.
