Apple TV+ is shifting up its rollout strategy for Slow Horses Season 3, and it means we'll be getting new episodes sooner.
As revealed Tuesday morning, the highly-anticipated next chapter of the Gary Oldman drama will now premiere on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
It was previously revealed that new episodes would air beginning December 1, 2023, so we're getting them two days earlier.
Apple TV+ has been experimenting with rolling out shows earlier in the week, and it worked very well for Ted Lasso Season 3, so we're inclined to believe this will be a good thing for this hit drama series.
We also got our first look at Slow Horses Season 3 today, with Apple TV+ sharing the official trailer.
If there's one thing we know about Slow Horses, it's that the series features a lot of talented individuals, and that will continue.

When Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves) is kidnapped by rogue MI5 agents, it’s up to her fellow Slow Horse agents to save her in the first trailer for Season 3 of “Slow Horses.”
Apple TV+ released the preview on Tuesday for the British spy show, which returns with the first two episodes of Season 3 on Nov. 29. A new episode premieres every Wednesday through Dec. 27.
“I need a team of good agents, but I just have the Slow Horses,” laments slovenly senior agent Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), who never misses a chance to crack wise, even when lives are on the line.
Later in the clip, River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) calls from a besieged warehouse to tell Lamb, “There are men outside with guns. Some backup might be handy.”
Lamb’s nonchalant reply, “Well, I’m busy.”
Responds a frustrated Cartwright, “Ok, thanks, I’m sure the situation will resolve itself.”

The six-episode first season of Slow Horses launched globally on Apple TV+ on April 1. The second season, directed by Jeremy Lovering, is set to premiere globally later this year.
Slow Horses is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House.

Gary Oldman is a cranky MI5 agent saddled with “absolute losers” in the first trailer for spy series “Slow Horses,” which Apple TV+ released on Wednesday.
The six-episode series is based on Mick Herron’s first novel in the “Slow Horses” series, with the first two episodes debuting globally on April 1, followed by one episode every Friday.
Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but bitter veteran spy who ends up at the “Slough House,” a department of MI5, where agents who’ve made career-ending mistakes are relegated. It’s a dead-end where no interesting cases ever arise, until Jack Lowden’s still ambitious agent sees an opportunity to get back in the game.
Oldman takes a bit of pride in the group he oversees, telling Kristin Scott Thomas, “They’re a bunch of absolute losers. But they’re my losers.”

The USC Libraries revealed the winners for the 34th annual USC Libraries Scripter Award on Saturday as a virtual event, which honors the year’s best film and television adaptations (along with the works on which they are based). This group of academics, industry professionals, and critics is often predictive of the Adapted Screenplay Oscar race. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s “The Lost Daughter” (Netflix) won the film award, while the television prize went to author Beth Macy and screenwriter Danny Strong for the Hulu series “Dopesick.”
Of the five finalist writers for film adaptation, three are also Oscar nominees. Rebecca Hall (Nella Larsen’s “Passing”) and Joel Coen (William Shakespeare’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth”) did not make that cut. “The Lost Daughter,” therefore, advances in the Oscar race ahead of “Dune” (Warner Bros. Pictures/Legendary Pictures and Ace) screenwriters Eric Roth, Jon Spaihts, and Denis Villeneuve,...

Gary Oldman series “Slow Horses” will debut on Apple TV Plus on April 1, 2022, the streamer confirmed today.
In the six-part series, based on Mike Herron’s novel of the same name, Oldman plays Jackson Lamb, an MI5 boss relegated to administrative purgatory in Slough House, where sub-par agents are put out to pasture.
Jack Lowden (“Small Axe”) also stars as a young agent who, after botching a mission, joins Lamb. Tasked with little more than paper-pushing, the jaded boss expects little from his team until they find themselves embroiled in a terrifying plot.
Joining Oldman and Lowden are Kristin Scott Thomas (“Rebecca”), Jonathan Pryce (“The Two Popes”) and Olivia Cooke (“Ready Player One”). Rounding out the cast are Freddie Fox (“The Great”), Rosalind Eleazar (“Harlots”) and Chris Chung (“Waterloo Road”).

The USC Scripter Awards has announced its nominees for its 34th annual ceremony, recognizing the best film and television adaptations. Netflix dominated the film category with three films making the cut, all from women screenwriters who also directed their movies: “The Lost Daughter” from Maggie Gyllenhaal, “The Power of the Dog” from Jane Campion and “Passing” from Rebecca Hall. This is the first nomination for all three acclaimed filmmakers.
Joel Coen, a two-time nominee for “No Country for Old Men” (2007), for which he won with his brother Ethan, and “True Grit” (2010), was recognized for adapting his black-and-white interpretation of “The Tragedy of Macbeth” for Apple Original Films and A24. This is a huge pick-up for the movie, as no film adaptation of the cursed play has been recognized in the screenplay category at the Oscars.
Another significant boost was given to “Dune” and its three scribes, Eric Roth, Jon Spaihts and Denis Villeneuve.

When Jess Paine and Ramon Watkins were announced as the inaugural recipients of the In Dreams Fellowship at the beginning of last year, their aspirations of cracking the US market were given a significant boost.
However, the screenwriting initiative’s mission to spark a new wave of Australian storytelling perspectives in Hollywood coincided with the more unwelcome wave of Covid across the world, which cast a shadow over new opportunities in the industry.
Despite this, both Paine and Watkins have managed to take their craft to the next level, with the former having her YA sci-fi pilot The Replacements optioned by Kojo Studios and Stampede Ventures partnership, The Alliance, while the latter has joined Impact Australia 2 to work on half-hour queer comedy Daddies.
Paine, who writes scripts for Neighbours while developing other projects, told If the pandemic may have even carried a silver lining.

Exclusive: When Oscar-nominated director Paul Greengrass began working on News of the World, he said he set out to create a family movie with purpose and edge. However, he didn’t expect the film’s touching on pandemics and a politically divided country to strike such a chord with current events.

Based on Paulette Jiles’ 2016 novel, Universal’s News of the World follows beaten-down Confederate soldier Capt. This story about Helena Zengel and “News of the World” first appeared in the Race Begins issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
She knew she wanted to be an actress when she was 7 years old, and she remembers the moment she realized it.
Helena Zengel, who at the time had been in a music video and a couple of TV series, was on the Greek island of Santorini for her first lead role in the film “Dark Blue Girl,” in which she played a young girl trying to drive her parents apart. “There was one day we were shooting at the water,” she said in a rush of English, a language in which the Berlin native was considerably less fluent only a year ago. “I was sitting close to the beach and I had a break and I think I drank a lemonade. There are horror stories chronicling the difficulties trying to cast a film. Practically every actress of a certain age in Hollywood auditioned for the pivotal role of Scarlett O’Hara in 1939’s “Gone with the Wind” before producer David O. Selznick selected the British actress Vivien Leigh. And more recently, Sacha Baron Cohen went on an exhaustive search for the perfect actress to play his teenage daughter Tutar in “Borat: Subsequent Moviefilm” before he found Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova.
Oscar-nominated filmmaker Paul Greengrass (2005’s “Flight 93”) knew his biggest problem with his new film, Universal’s “News of the World,” was finding a child actress to play Johanna, a German émigré in Texas in 1870 who had been kidnapped by the Kiowa as a child. Not only did he need a young German actress, Greengrass needed one strong enough to hold her own opposite the film’s star Tom Hanks, who plays Captain Jason Kidd,...

In this discombobulated time, period western “News of the World” is just the sort of big-screen entertainment in short supply for Academy voters. They still haven’t seen Christopher Nolan’s glossy thriller “Tenet,” which never opened in New York and Los Angeles. When they eventually watch their Blu-ray screeners, the escapist time-twister isn’t exactly a zeitgeist movie mid-pandemic.

Exclusive: Apple TV+’s Gary Oldman spy drama Slow Horses has rounded out its cast, with Ready Player One star Olivia Cooke and The Two Popes actor Jonathan Pryce joining a lineup that also includes Kristin Scott Thomas and Jack Lowden.
See-Saw Films’ adaptation of Mick Herron’s espionage novels is currently shooting in the UK following a delay due to the coronavirus production shutdown, and sources tell Deadline that 12 episodes are being filmed, which will likely constitute two seasons of the drama.
Oscar winner Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, a brilliant but irascible leader of a group of spies who end up in MI5’s Slough House, having been exiled from the mainstream for their mistakes.
Scott Thomas features as Diana Taverner, a formidable high-ranker at MI5, while Lowden is on board as River Cartwright, a talented agent who is desperate to claw his way up and out of Slough House.

Exclusive: While there has been question about big movies holding their theatrical release dates around the holidays in this Covid-19 moment, Universal’s News of the World is solidifying a plan to release theatrically in the U.S., while getting its international release through Netflix. Deadline hears that the Paul Greengrass-directed period drama that stars Tom Hanks is making a deal to have its overseas distribution handled through Netflix, which has done this on some other pictures but not on one this large.
The deal is being sewn up as we speak, and this will be good news for theaters in the U.S. as the picture launches its way into Oscar season. The picture will be release on PVOD as early as 17 days following its theatrical release on December 25. It will continue to hold screens. This is possible because of Uni’s deal with AMC, which allows for a hybrid model.

Take a look behind the scenes of News of the World from Universal Pictures, which stars Tom Hanks and is in theaters this Christmas, with this new featurette. The film tells a moving story written and directed by Paul Greengrass, reuniting for the first time with his star from their 2013 Best Picture nominee Captain Phillips.
Five years after the end of the Civil War, Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd (Hanks), a veteran of three wars, now moves from town to town as a non-fiction storyteller, sharing the news of presidents and queens, glorious feuds, devastating catastrophes, and gripping adventures from the far reaches of the globe. In the plains of Texas, he crosses paths with Johanna, a 10-year-old taken in by the Kiowa people six years earlier and raised as one of their own. Johanna, hostile to a world she’s never experienced, is being returned to her biological aunt and uncle against her will.

Earlier in the week, a Trailer dropped for News of the World, a longtime presumed Oscar frontrunner for this year. Starring Tom Hanks, he reunites with filmmaker Paul Greengrass for a movie that seems to check all of the Academy Award boxes. Period piece? Check. Big star? Check. Timely aspects? Check. It all lines up for something voters may not be able to resist. However, it had been a bit of a mystery, until now. At the end of this post, you can of course see the Trailer, but first, why don’t we learn a little bit more about the flick? The film is a drama with a Western vibe. This is the official long log-line from Universal Pictures: “This Christmas, Universal Pictures is proud to present Tom Hanks starring in News of the World, a moving story written and directed by Paul Greengrass, reuniting for the first...

The Keshet Productions UK adaptation of Israeli drama False Flag has entered pre-production and the shoot is planned for late October, although dates are not set in stone. Producers were nearing the end of the first block of filming before the show was halted.
Suspicion features Thurman as a prominent American businesswoman whose 21-year-old son is kidnapped from an upmarket hotel in central New York. Four British citizens staying at the hotel quickly become the prime suspects.
