Once set up at the Max streaming service, the TV series Dead Boy Detectives, which is based on characters Neil Gaiman created for DC Comics in the pages of The Sandman issue #25, is now calling Netflix its home, having moved away from Max last year because it “doesn’t fit with DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plans for the Dcu.” The show premiered on April 25th (you can read our review Here) – and to mark the occasion, a new addition to the team here at JoBlo.com, Kyanna Mondezie, was given the opportunity to conduct interviews with several members of the cast: George Rexstrew, Jayden Revri, Kassius Nelson, and Yuyu Kitamura. You can hear what they had to say about their experience working on the show by checking out the video embedded above. Also interviewed were series creator Steve Yockey and showrunner Beth Schwartz.

Amy Schneider has made Jeopardy! history once again as the first finalist in the all-new Jeopardy Invitational Tournament. The Tournament of Champions winner snagged her spot in a thrilling semi-finals matchup against Jennifer Quail, a player known for her Final Jeopardy excellence, and David Madden on Tuesday, April 2. There were just nine players left in the tournament when the April 2 game began. Schneider and Madden both won their quarterfinals games with runaways, and Quail won with a hail-Mary wager in Final Jeopardy. The next two games will determine who plays against Schneider in the Jit finals. The most impressive part about Schneider’s semifinals game was that she didn’t find any of the Daily Doubles, and yet she was in first place going into Final Jeopardy. In fact, Schneider only answered two questions wrong in the entire game. Quail found the first Daily Double, and she bet all she had before losing it all.

The Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament continued on Tuesday night (March 26) as three more former champions returned to the Alex Trebek Stage for another shot at glory. Arthur Chu, a writer originally from Cleveland, Ohio, who finished as 1st runner-up in the 2014 Tournament of Champions, faced off against 19-game champion David Madden and 2021 Tournament of Champions quarterfinalist MacKenzie Jones. Chu, who was once called Jeopardy!‘s “first villain,” led after the first round, standing at $6,400 to Madden’s $4,200 and Jones’ $2,200. However, things dramatically shifted in Double Jeopardy! thanks to two crucial Daily Doubles. Madden found the first Daily Double and added $5,000 to his total. Chu then found the second Daily Double and chose to wager a massive $10,000. He answered incorrectly, losing a considerable chunk of his earnings and giving Madden a runaway going into Final Jeopardy. Heading into Final Jeopardy, Madden stood at $18,400, while Chu had $5,600, and Jones trailed with $600. Even though...

The Flight Attendant will not be returning for a third season. The show, which was originally set as a limited series, aired two seasons on Max, with the second season ending in May 2022.
The move follows comments from star and executive producer Kaley Cuoco after the second season that the “plane had landed.” “I just kind of feel like we just ended,” she told People at the time.
The first season, which premiered in November 2020, followed Cuoco’s alcoholic, globe-trotting flight attendant Cassie Bowden who became embroiled in an espionage plot following her affair with a first class passenger, who winds up murdered after their night together.
The second season saw Bowden return with a fresh start in Los Angeles, sober and moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.

The project also recognizes 20 producers responsible for the most inclusive content.
“The goal of the Inclusion List is to recognize the stories and storytellers who are taking inclusion seriously and whose content reflects their values,” said Dr. Smith, founder of the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative. “With today’s release of the Inclusion List for broadcast/cable and streaming series, we are excited to acknowledge the creative voices championing inclusion across the spectrum of episodic content.

It’s been a nightmare year for the entertainment business, and veteran industry exec David Madden has said it has still got a way to go to find its feet again.
The Global Head of Entertainment for Korean-owned content giant Wattpad Webtoon Studios told a Content London audience that some buyers remain “a little skittish and awkward” about budgets ahead of 2024.
This was due to the combined factors of the writers strikes, the TV ad market downturn and streamers switching to profit-focused business models. “Companies are still reeling from everything that’s been in the news reports over the last year,” said Madden.
The former AMC, Fox and Berlanti Productions content chief pointed to Disney as one buyer that was still “fragile in terms of knowing what to spend,” though some others were “more aggressive.”
“It isn’t as doom and gloom as it could have been but [the market] is probably 60% back.

Gotham Knights co-creator Natalie Abrams didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye.
On the night of the drama’s series finale on the CW, Abrams — who created the DC Comics-based drama with Chad Fiveash and James Patrick Stoteraux — posted a heartfelt message Tuesday for her beloved “BatBrats” who were about to see their show end after one season.
The series from DC, Warner Bros. TV and Greg Berlanti Prods. was a respectable ratings performer but was canceled to make way for the network’s new (see: cheaper) business model.
“Gotham Knights is coming to an end,” Abrams said on Twitter. “It’s taken a while to accept this fact, to grieve the loss of something so unique and ethereal as this first project. From the moment I pitched Greg Berlanti the two sentences that would become this oddball underdog of a show, it no longer belonged to me.

Last week was a good one for the NHL’s Golden Knights, who won the Stanley Cup, but not for The CW’s Gotham Knights, which was canceled after its freshman season. Today Misha Collins, who starred as the dashing, idealistic District Attorney and Gotham City mayoral candidate Harvey Dent, took to social media to reflect on the superhero series and thank its Bat Brat fans.
“I’m incredibly bummed, and selfishly disappointed to not be able to fully explore my ‘villain arc,'” he wrote on Instagram (see the post below), “but I’m proud of the show we made and so grateful to have been able to work with such a smart, caring, good group of people.”
Said “villain arc” was to be Dent’s transformation into the horribly disfigured and shunned Batman adversary Two-Face.

It’s curtains for “Gotham Knights” at The CW. The network will not move forward with a second season of the DC series, Variety has learned.
The series was absent from a statement of upcoming programming from the CW, which announced renewals of both “Superman & Lois” and “All American: Homecoming” for the 2023-2024 broadcast season.
The news about the future of “Gotham Knights” comes more than two weeks ahead of the date that the series is slated to air what would now be its series finale. The program premiered on March 4 and was set to conclude its 13-episode first season on June 27.
From Warner Bros. Television, “Gotham Knights” follows Bruce Wayne’s rebellious adopted son, who forms a team with the children of Batman’s enemies. Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams co-created the series and served as executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden of Berlanti Productions.

The CW has canceled Gotham Knights after one season.
The DC Comics-based drama was one of three scripted series whose fate had been left in limbo along with Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which both are being renewed. A total of four existing CW dramas will make it to next season, along with previously renewed All American and Walker.
Gotham Knights has been a respectable ratings performer and, under different circumstances, could’ve made it to a second season but, with the business model of the CW changing under its new ownership, only a handful of highly rated (by CW standards) existing scripted series could make the cut.
“We love all those shows, and they all do very well for us in different ways” the CW’s Entertainment President Brad Schwartz said last month about Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming and Gotham Knights.

The CW has renewed All American spinoff All American: Homecoming for a third season. As has been the case with most renewals of existing scripted CW series, Homecoming was picked up for 13 episodes.
Overall, four legacy CW dramas made it to next season. All: American was picked up today alongside Superman & Lois, which received a 10-episode Season 4 order. The series, both from Warner Bros. Television and studio-based Berlanti Productions, join previously renewed flagships All American and Walker.
“We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW,” said CW Entertainment President Brad Schwartz. “These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons.

The CW can never hold Kitty! How’s that for a deep cut? Don’t worry, Powerpuff Girl fans. I’ve got your back. Some unfortunate news is coming out of Townsville today. The CW is no longer developing several live-action series, including The Powerpuff Girls, the Archie series Jake Chang, the Arrowverse show Justice U, and a female-led Zorro. The same fate goes for all series left over from former CW president Mark Pedowitz’s tenure.
“We’ve already given those back to the studios,” Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment, explained to TVLine after an Upfront presentation, adding, “so they’re free to develop those and sell them anywhere.”
Shutting down development on the abovementioned projects comes as Hollywood struggles to negotiate with the WGA during the most recent writer’s strike. With no timeline for when writers will return to work, more shows could be...

The CW will not continue with Kung Fu, its reboot of the classic series, which has run for three seasons. It is the latest cancellation of an existing scripted series at the network, which is changing its business model under its new owners to focus on lower-cost scripted originals, primarily from Canada and the UK.
So far, only the CW’s strongest existing scripted series, All American and Walker, have been renewed for next season. The three least likely, The Winchesters, Kung Fu and Walker Independence, have been canceled. Remaining in limbo are Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming, which are believed to have the best chance (however small it may be), followed by Gotham Knights.

“The Winchesters” has been canceled after one season at The CW, with the network also canceling the reboot of “Kung Fu” after three seasons.
“As we reimagine the new CW, we had to make some tough programming decisions,” The CW said in a statement. “We thank our partners at Warner Bros. and the casts and creative teams of ‘Kung Fu’ and ‘The Winchesters’ for all their hard work, creativity and dedication.”
The “Supernatural” prequel series “The Winchesters” followed demon hunters Sam and Dean’s parents, John (Drake Rodger) and Mary (Meg Donnelly), telling the story of how the couple met as teens and how they ultimately came together to save the entire world. The story is told from Dean’s (Jensen Ackles) perspective, marking the first return of Ackles’ character since the series finale in November of 2020.
In addition to Rodger and Donnelly, Bianca Kajlich, Demetria McKinney, and Nida Khurshid also starred.

Wattpad Webtoon Studios, the entertainment arm of the user-generated fiction and comics entertainment outfit, and Italy’s Leone Film Group have announced two new adaptations based on hit young-adult Wattpad novels.
Taiwan-based author Ann Rae’s romantic mystery “The Locker Exchange,” which is set in a U.S. high school and has over 26 million reads globally on the Wattpad platform, is set to become an English and Italian-language feature film. And “Love Me, Love Me” by Italian writer Stefania S, which has scored 12 million reads in Italy, is to be adapted into an Italian-language series by Leone’s Lotus Production unit.
The two new adaptations expand on an existing deal that Leone inked last year to co-develop a slate of films for the Italian and international marketplace based on original fiction stories from Wattpad. That pact came after the two companies partnered to make a movie based on Blair Holden...

Online story platform Wattpad and Thai media firm Gmmtv have joined forces to adapt digital comic “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty!” for TV.
The show will begin production this summer and be known as “Beauty Newbie” when it begins airing on Gmmtv in early 2024.
The adaptation will follow Liu, a young woman who feels the need to get plastic surgery, and Guy, who is seen as having a perfect face. The show asks whether, in a world that judges and criticizes based on appearance, romance can blossom between two people who see themselves so differently?
The underlying webtoon by Maenggi Ki has been viewed 1.4 billion times and has a significant following in Thailand, where Korean culture is popular and beauty pageants remain a mainstay of mass TV.
“Beauty Newbie” features some of Thailand’s biggest young talents, including Baifern-Pimchanok as Liu, Win-Metawin as Guy Fah-Yongwaree as Fay and Great-Sapol (“Catch Me Baby”) as Sense.

The CW has ordered to series all three of its pilots: DC Comics-based Gotham Knights, Walker: Independence and The Winchesters.
All three are based on underlying IP: Supernatural prequel The Winchesters, Walker origin story Walker: Independence and Gotham Knights. Because of their pedigree, solid execution and the fact that this is half the number of pilots the CW has normally picked up over the past decade, all had been major contenders from the start.

The Winchesters is said to be the strongest attempt at a Supernatural spinoff to date; it is the first to go to series. The CW has started making pilot orders.
Supernatural prequel The Winchesters, a Walker spinoff and DC universe-set Gotham Knights all have been picked up to pilot.
The move means that both stars of The CW’s Supernatural will be producing pilots for the upcoming season: Jensen Ackles with The Winchesters and Jared Padalecki with Walker: Independence.
The trio of pilot orders is unsurprising – Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva pointed to all three likely making the cut in her Pilot Season 2022 rundown. The network also handed an additional six scripts to the female-fronted Zorro series project.

Fox’s TV studio and broadcast network just performed an executive shuffle. Terence Carter (pictured above, left), Fox broadcast’s current drama chief, is heading over to the studio side to lead development. He backfills Michael Thorn’s vacated role there, and will report to Jonnie Davis. Charlie Andrews (above, right) will replace Carter at the network side, where he’ll be responsible for all drama and event programming. Andrews will report directly to Thorn, who was shifted to network president when David Madden left for AMC. Both Carter and Andrews have executive vice president titles in their new roles.

David Madden may be exactly the executive that AMC needs right now. Madden, who has just been hired as the new president of original programming for AMC, Sundance TV and AMC Studios, is well-liked, creative, and has done it all as a producer, studio executive, and network boss.
The mandate for Madden (who recently stepped down as Fox Entertainment president) is clear: Like most outlets, AMC Networks is hungry to produce — and own — more of its own content. That’s why, in addition to overseeing programming for AMC, the exec will also do the same for Sundance TV and AMC Studios — the shingle tasked with producing more programming for the AMC Networks suite, which also includes BBC America and IFC.

As the networks prepare to launch their new fall TV seasons, Fox is making a change at the top. Michael Thorn has been named Fox’s new entertainment president, replacing David Madden, who is exiting the network after three years and is rumored to be in contention for the top AMC programming job (which has been empty since Joel Stillerman moved to Hulu).
Thorn was most recently executive vice president of development at 20th Century Fox TV, where he worked on series including the NBC hit “This Is Us,” as well as Fox’s “Empire,” ABC’s “Speechless” and CBS’ “Life in Pieces.” He reports to Fox TV Group chairmen/CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden, who announced the appointment on Wednesday morning.
“We’ve worked with Michael for the past decade, and in terms of creative chops and leadership skills, he’s one of the best,” Newman and Walden said in a joint statement.

Newly minted Fox Television Group Chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden announced a couple key executive appointments on Thursday (August 14), filling two roles with companies whose very similar names will confuse me for a long time. David Madden has been named as Fox Entertainment President, filling the role last occupied by Kevin Reilly, though Reilly had ascended to Fox Entertainment Chairman before announcing his departure in May. The duo officially was announced atop the newly formed Ftg in July. As Fox Entertainment President, Madden will have responsibility over scripted programming and development, as well as alternative entertainment and casting at the network. He comes to the gig from Fox Television Studios. [That's Ftvs, not to be confused with Ftg, Fbc or the Peter Rice-headed Fox Networks Group, which towers over everything.] While serving as Ftvs President, Madden oversaw a company responsible for hits including "The Americans,...

David Madden has been named president of Fox Broadcasting Group, while Joe Earley was promoted to chief operating officer for the newly formed Fox Television Group. In their new roles — which are effectively immediately — both Madden and Earley will report in to Dana Walden and Gary Newman, who lead both the studio and the network together. Madden's replacement at Fox Television Studios will be named soon, Fox said on Thursday. Denis Leary’s upcoming comedy show, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, has been ordered to series by FX, with 10 episodes now in the pipeline. Written by Leary and directed by Michael Blieden (Children’s Hospital), the show follows Johnny Rock (Leary) – an aging rocker, desperately chasing one last shot at fame and fortune.
The show sets up his character as someone who, back in the early 1990s, led a band called The Heathens to the height of the New York rock scene. He was headed for greatness, along with best friend and lead guitarist Flash (John Corbett), until he precipitated their downfall with his predilection for drugs, alcohol and the wives of his friends. We learn that the band released one record and broke up on the same day. Two decades later, Johnny has reunion on his mind.

Fans of Rescue Me, and/or Denis Leary, have something to be happy about as FX orders a new series, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, from the comedian.
This one is quite a different effort from the surprisingly dramatic Rescue Me, but looks as though it is going to mix a lot of elements. Leary is likely just the guy who can deliver an aging, washed out musician who barely had a career in the first place, and is now trying to make something happen for himself. That’s especially true if this is angling for a comedy that can also deliver some weightier moments, which looks to be the case.
Catch all the info below, and let me know what you think. Will you be tuning in?

FX is continuing its aggressive recent push into comedy with a series order for Denis Leary's typographically controversial "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll." The "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll" -- no spaces, silly FX -- order is for 10 episodes, with the series set to premiere in 2015. Nearly everybody involved wanted to have comments in the official press release. "I am extremely elated at the opportunity to once again be working with John Landgraf and the fine executive talent over at FX," blurbs Leary. "They have a great platform for comedy, an award-winning marketing team and an amazing new Nespresso machine in the conference room. The Gran Maestria C520 Platinum? Get this: it heats the cup! Also, doing this show with FX will allow me to live one of my last show-business dreams: Emmy-winner Peter Tolan will be playing my gay stepdad. I know what you're thinking - isn't Peter just a few years older than Denis?...
