Love Actually isn’t Love Actually without its hedonistic, aging rock star Billy Mack. But Bill Nighy’s outspoken character was nowhere to be seen during the movie’s mini-sequel, which aired as part of NBC’s Red Nose Day fundraising special Thursday.
Many members of the movie’s cast — including Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Liam Neeson, Rowan Atkinson and Colin Firth — took part in the project, which provided a “Where are they now?” look at characters from the popular romantic comedy while highlighting the importance of Red Nose Day, a charity that provides various forms of help to needy kids.

Whenever we get gloomy with the state of the world, we think about Red Nose Day, the annual charity telethon that raises money for children in need.
This year’s broadcast, which aired Thursday on NBC and which was hosted by the ubiquitous Chris Hardwick, once more brought a hodgepodge of celebrities together to do silly things for a good cause.

Stephen Amell, you did not fail American Ninja Warrior.
Unsurprisingly, the very fit star of Arrow dominated the course during the show’s first-ever celebrity edition on Thursday. The special episode was part of NBC’s annual Red Nose Day programming.
VideosWatch Arrow‘s Stephen Amell Target the American Ninja Warrior Course
Amell easily made it through all six obstacles, never exercising the option to tag-in his coach Kacy Catanzaro. (I get why this choice was needed for some of the competitors, but I have to admit: I felt a bit cheated.) Once he got to the top of the Warped Wall,...

NBC is saying farewell to Bye Bye Birdie — for the time being, at least.
The Peacock network announced on Thursday that its live, Jennifer Lopez-fronted production of the classic musical — which was slated to bow in December — has been pushed to 2018. Lopez’s busy schedule is apparently the culprit; the multi-hyphenate is already juggling her just-renewed drama Shades of Blue and her new summer reality show World of Dance (both on NBC), not to mention her Las Vegas residency.

What the world needs now is love.
After making its debut in the U.K. in March for British Red Nose Day, the mini sequel to Love Actually is making its way to the States this month. Ahead of its broadcast, Universal Pictures released the official trailer for Red Nose Day Actually, which proves that Hugh Grant's Prime Minister David still has the moves – well, sort of.

‘Love Actually’: Superfan Chris Matthews Shares His Favorite Scenes From the Holiday Classic – Watch
There’s no denying that MSNBC host Chris Matthews is a big fan of Richard Curtis’ holiday classic, “Love Actually.” (John Oliver even created a video mashup showing how much he references the film). Matthews thinks the movie has “as much to do with politics as it does with falling in love,” according to the Washington Post. The daily newspaper sat down with the political commentator to watch the British romantic comedy and share his favorite scenes.
Among his most memorable parts include the scene where prime minister David, portrayed by Hugh Grant, tells off the Us President (played by Billy Bob Thornton).
“[We love that scene] because we love courage. We love guts under pressure. And we like the fact that [David] was chivalrous,” Matthews says in the clip below. “He was looking out for his girl, and that’s what it was about. It’s great stuff.”

Welcome to Random Roles, wherein we talk to actors about the characters who defined their careers. The catch: They don’t know beforehand what roles we’ll ask them to talk about.
The actor: Many Americans were introduced to the disarmingly charming actor Bill Nighy in Richard Curtis’ holiday staple Love Actually. He was playing Billy Mack, a washed-up rocker making a surprising comeback. This is the type of guy who brags about shagging Britney Spears. (Hey, it was 2003.) It turns out Nighy detests doing sex scenes, a fact he learned during his breakout TV role in England, the series The Men’s Room. Though it took him a while, Nighy is now a ubiquitous cinematic presence, popping up all over the place, sometimes in franchise blockbusters, and often in the films of Richard Curtis and Edgar Wright. To that last point, he has the rare distinction of appearing ...

Richard Curtis and Bill Nighy on kissing lessons for the cast, the plots that didn't make the cut – and the crowds of blokes who suddenly turned up to see Billy Mack's girl band
This film is my Pulp Fiction. I love multiple storylines, but I soon realised how tricky they are. At first, we had 14 different love stories, but the result was too long, so four ended up going, including two we'd actually shot. One was based on a poster in Alan Rickman's office of two women in Africa. The camera actually went into the poster and heard them talking about their daughters' love lives. Another involved Emma Thompson's son getting into trouble at school and the camera following the harsh headmistress home.
