Neal McDonough, Corbin Bernsen and Bailey Chase have joined Kevin Sorbo in apocalyptic thriller “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist.”
The movie is the latest instalment in the Bible prophecy-themed “Left Behind” film and book series (authored by the late Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins), and it is the sequel to 2014’s “Left Behind,” which featured Nicolas Cage. “Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist” follows the original characters and storylines of the books, but its fictional world, originally conceived in the mid-nineties, has been updated to reflect today’s world.
“Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist” is directed by and stars Sorbo, one of the leading figures in the multibillion-dollar faith-based film industry.
The movie also stars Greg Perrow and Sarah Fisher.

Last month, as infernos raged across the West Coast and President Trump countered scientific consensus on climate change, saying, “I don’t think science knows, actually,” Americans of various persuasions got a glimpse of the apocalypse. For many on the left, the fires presented Armageddon in microcosm, proof of the destructive, ongoing processes that imperil humans and the planet alike. For many on the right, however, the fires were a different sort of sign, and Trump’s comment was a dog whistle reassuring those in the know that science would...

Apocalyptic thriller Left Behind stars Nicolas Cage. Its reviews were not kind. And it features perhaps the worst movie break-in ever...
Films are sometimes critically panned not because they're inherently bad, but because of the larger story surrounding them. Consider Battlefield Earth, for example: a terrible movie, sure, but its production history (not to mention its connection to the Church of Scientology) made it an easy target.
Solar Crisis, released in 1990 was an equally awful movie--and with a budget of $55 million, just as financially calamitous--but it was largely ignored while Battlefield Earth's hideousness was trumpeted from the rooftops.
Which brings us to 2014's Left Behind, a film so universally panned by critics that its Rotten Tomatoes score sits at an abysmal three percent. This places it a mere whisker above such legendarily bad films as Jaws: The Revenge and Mac and Me, and a startling 10 percent...

Finally, the day we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. No, I’m not talking about any of that “Oscars” silliness, or Neil Patrick Harris taking on hosting duties. No, I’m talking about the 2015 Razzie Awards, in which all the crap of the crop from this past year in cinema at last gets its well-deserved comeuppance.
This year’s “winners” are a particularly disreputable bunch, with Kirk Cameron leading the pack for his atrocious Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas and Michael Bay reliably racking up more Golden Raspberry Awards for Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. It was a strangely good night for Ben Affleck, who took home the “Redeemer” Award for turning his career around from Gigli to Gone Girl, and a bad one for Cameron Diaz, who lost out in Worst Supporting Actress for Annie (which still, deservedly, won Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel) but received...

The 2015 Razzies "winners" have been announced, leaving the "losers" to breathe a collective sigh of relief -- because, well, who the hell wants to win a Razzie?
You see, for the past 35 years, on the eve of the Oscars, the Golden Raspberry Awards has honored the very best of the very worst movies released the previous year -- and this year's competition was nothing short of spectacular...ly tragic. Everyone -- from Razzie favorites Nicolas Cage and Michael Bay to newcomers Nicola Peltz and Gaia Weiss -- was in the crosshairs, but only 10 took home Razzies.
Here then, ladies and gentlemen, is the full list of winners from the 2015 Razzie Awards.

The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation has announced the nominations for the 35th annual Razzie Awards. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend of Hercules, and Transformers 4: Age of Ex-stink-Tion are leading the nominations for worst movies of the year. The only name I don't think belongs on this list of nominations is Mel Gibson for his role in The Expendables 3, because he was freakin' awesome in that!
You can check out the full announcement below, followed by the nominations list. Look it over and let us know if you agree with what they claim is the worst of 2014.
Hollywood was not happy with box office returns for 2014, their lowest-grossing year in recent history. Despite a handful of high-grossing hits, there were way more major misses — movies based on recycled premises and re-worked concepts that were already tired a decade or more ago, the cinematic equivalent of re-treaded tires.

Nominations for the 35th annual Razzie Awards, which satirize “the Worst Achievements in Film for 2014,” are out. Transformers: Age Of Extinction leads the field with seven; while Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas and The Legend Of Hercules are tied at six nods each.
As usual, the Razzie races were unveiled one day before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announces its picks for the best achievements of the year in film. But are the Razzies softening at 35? A new category has been added this year for the Razzie Redeemer Award, which acknowledges “that past nominees and ‘winners’ can (and often do) go on to far far better things.” The inaugural class includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Stewart.
Elsewhere, along with Saving Christmas and billion-dollar box office hit Transformers 4, there are multiple mentions for A Million Ways To Die In The West, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...

Updated Monday, 2:01 p.m: Gone Girl eked a weekend win over Annabelle in one of the most hotly contested races of the year — and one in which there was no loser. Both movies clocked in above $35 million, the first time that’s happened since early August.
By the thinnest of margins, the David Fincher-Ben Affleck thriller beat The Conjuring spinoff by about $400k, a virtual tie. And considering Annabelle sported a $6.5 million budget, the New Line venture likely will prove the more profitable investment. Not that Fox is going to complain: Given that Gone Girl scored $10 million more than most projections, the bestseller adaptation is well suited for a fall Oscar run in theaters. Fox plans to roll the drama out on more screens this weekend.

After the lackluster last couple of months, Hollywood's box office analysts must be scratching their heads at their good fortune this weekend. The long summer-early-fall slump ended with not one but two huge debuts and an overall rise in sales of nearly 40 percent over last weekend.
Not only did "Gone Girl" and "Annabelle" open well above expectations, scoring nearly $40 million each, but several other of the top 10 films, both new and old, were overachievers as well. All told, this was the biggest box office weekend since "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" took the top spot from "Guardians of the Galaxy" two months ago, and it was on a par with any weekend from July.
So those head-scratching analysts must be wondering: What went right?
Some possible answers:
Revenge of the Grown-Ups. Sure, "Gone Girl" was one of the year's most anticipated movies, thanks to the popularity of Gillian Flynn's best-selling...

Chicago – Onscreen, Nicolas Cage is more sinner than saint these days. And he’ll need a whole month’s worth of Hail Marys to atone for this latest cinematic scourge upon the multiplex.
While the promise of late career Cage in an apocalyptic Christian rapture thriller has hope, “Left Behind” has something to leave both bad movie aficionados and the Christian faithful sorely disappointed.
Rating: 1.0/5.0
The end times have a seemingly endless fascination for a certain devoted section of the Evangelical Christian populace, but it brings out the worst in the faithful filmmakers that try to tackle it. Instead of genuine suspense, we get ham-fisted preachiness. Growing up, and attending Bible summer camp, I watched a 1970’s rapture flick called “A Thief In The Night.” That ramped up the over-the-top hysterics to 11. A little hysterics would have been welcome here.
This is actually the second try at rebooting the inexplicably popular book series.

“What is this fucking music?” is the very first thing I wrote in my notebook while watching Left Behind. Two pages later, I wrote again, “No, seriously, what is this fucking music?” Indiscriminately scored to what appears to be the soundtrack from an '80s infomercial, and directed with all the nuance that suggests, the early scenes of Left Behind quickly cement its place in the Bad Movie Hall of Fame. But it’s the later scenes, when the plot becomes thoroughly unhinged, that the movie enters another plane altogether. Adapted from Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins’s best-selling evangelical novels about the end times, Left Behind is biblical in its silliness.Cage plays Rayford Steele, a semi-philandering airplane pilot who has been making eyes at the stewardesses (and one curvy blonde one in particular, played by Nicky Whelan) ever since his wife Irene (Lea Thompson) discovered Jesus and...

“Left Behind,” a Rapture disaster movie opening Friday, has all the subtlety of a sledgehammer and production values that verge on parody. Intended for a broad audience, it's best appreciated by the most ardently faithful. Where HBO's post-departure series “The Leftovers” is moody and enigmatic, “Left Behind” is heavy-handed and overt. There is no mistaking the Christian messaging behind this remake of 2000's direct-to-dvd movie starring Kirk Cameron, based on Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins’ bestselling series: Biblical scriptures abound; characters warn about the need to be ready for the apocalypse. “God knows everything,” a persistent traveler tells journalist Buck.

It’s the end of the world, and Nicolas Cage‘s wife knew it. Unfortunately, he didn’t believe her, so he’s stuck taking the place of a pilot who has suddenly vanished alongside a sizable amount of plane passengers. It’s a pretty inconvenient time for the rapture to happen, but Cage’s character is a pilot so things aren’t all that bad. Left Behind is the story of a bunch of non-Christians who have to endure the worst era in world history because God has closed the lid on his creation experiment with a final harumph. The movie is based on the book series from Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins that plays What If with the Book of Revelation, attempting to theorize how we might handle the rise of the Antichrist and the devastation that follows the great exodus of believers. It’s also technically a remake in the wake of a trinity...

In Biblical terms, the Rapture comes before the Tribulation, a terrifying period of seven years when God visits his final judgement upon the world. As tribulations go, Nic Cage starring in an adaptation of the Left Behind book series might rank up there. "He took the to protect them from the darkest time in the history of this world." After cautioning against the first trailer for the new adaptation of the religious, rapture-centric book Left Behind starring Nicolas Cage, we can't help but do the same with the full theatrical trailer that has just been released. With melodrama heightened by the use of Civil Twilight's song "Letters from the Sky," this attempts to pull at the heartstrings, but still feels like nothing more than a TV movie from the 90s. Lea Thompson and Chad Michael Murray don't add anything to the proceedings, but we really didn't expect them to at all. Watch? Here's the new trailer for Vic Armstrong's Left Behind, originally from Yahoo: Left Behind is directed by Vic Armstrong and written by Jerry B. Jenkins, based on Tim Lahaye's novel of the same name. Nicolas Cage and John Cusack have been less than discerning with their film gigs in recent years, picking a lot of modestly budgeted thrillers that get poor reviews and barely go theatrical. How many remember the likes of "The Bag Man," "Drive Hard," "The Frozen Ground," "The Factory," "Seeking Justice," "Stolen," "Trespass," "Rage," or "The Numbers Station"?
Today comes trailers for two more. First up is "Left Behind," the film version of the popular book series by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins which deals with what would happen if the Christian Rapture and Apocalypse took place today. The focus here though isn't on wider society, but rather a family lead by Cage's pilot character.
The second is for Cusack's "Reclaim" which co-stars Ryan Phillippe, Rachelle Lefevre, Jacki Weaver and Luis Guzman. That follows an American couple who travel to Puerto Rico to finalize an adoption, only to learn it was a scam.

Growing up in the Southern Baptist Church, I was sure of two things. One, if I believed Jesus Christ was the Son of God and accepted him into my heart I was a Christian for life. I still adhere to this, although I believe you do have to attempt to live by the guidelines given to us in the Bible. Next, Jesus was going to take all the believers in the Second Coming and leave us sinners to suffer the reign of the Antichrist in the Tribulation if I didn't. I also believe this to be true, although I'm not making any claims to knowing when or how it will all transpire.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Baptist denominations had a series of independent films they would circulate through churches, inviting neighborhoods to view what were dubbed the Thief or Rapture series. It was obvious that they were designed...

Stoney Lake Entertainment has released a teaser trailer for his new film Left Behind, and it looks terrible. Cage isn't even trying to act. It is based on the New York Times bestselling book series of the same name, co-authored by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim Lahaye.

The original Left Behind was not a quality film. This isn’t coming from me, as I haven’t seen it; I’m going by the word of Jerry B. Jenkins, one of the authors of the original sixteen “Left Behind” novels. According to Jenkins, he and his writing partner Tim Lahaye sold away their movie rights to the first available outlet, and ended up with three “church basement movies.” I’ve never seen a movie in a church basement, but I’m guessing they’re not of the highest quality. And that’s why Jenkins and Lahaye sued Cloud Ten Pictures Inc., on the grounds that Left Behind: The Movie, Left Behind II: Tribulation Force and Left Behind: World at War were bad movies. Apparently, that’s a thing you can do now. It’s also a thing you can win, because in 2008, Jenkins and Lahaye emerged the victors after almost a decade of legal squabbling...

The first teaser trailer for Left Behind has been unveiled.
The thriller, starring Nicolas Cage, is based on the best-selling series of novels by evangelical Christian minister Tim Lahaye and Jerry B Jenkins.
Exploring what happens to those left behind on Earth at the so-called 'end of days', the movie also stars One Tree Hill's Chad Michael Murray and singer Jordin Sparks.
"My greatest hope for the film... is that it works as something that people will be entertained and thrilled by, but they'll also go home and they'll have conversations with their family [about]," Cage told Variety earlier this year.
"They'll ask, 'Do you think this could happen or couldn't happen?', and it'll inspire discussions and closeness."
Left Behind is slated for an October 3 Us release.

We’re all out of Nic Cage jokes at this point – after all, what’s left to be said after that bee scene in The Wicker Man remake? Cage has had one of the strangest career trajectories in history after winning an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, and that trend continues with his next project – a remake of the biblical thriller Left Behind. The title, based on the best-selling novel of Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, follows the unfortunate sinners left behind (see what they did there?) on Earth after God calls all the good folks home. We’ve got the first trailer for the film and it looks almost exactly like what you’d expect. Cage camps it up as an airline pilot trying to figure out what’s going on. He’s joined in his quest by Jordin Sparks...

Believe it or not, fans of the “Left Behind” book series may be begging for Kirk Cameron to take back the lead after watching the trailer for the new one starring Nicolas Cage. “Left Behind,” a remake of the 2000 movie adaptation of the biblical best selling novel written by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, stars Cage as a pilot who is flying through the sky when the Rapture strikes. In the pantheon of signs foreshadowing a coming apocalypse, settling into your aircraft seat and learning that Nicolas Cage is your pilot today might just be up there among the worst. If you're a fan of overly religious films, but have been disappointed at the caliber of talent involved, then you're going to have to keep looking. Not even Nicolas Cage can make this new adaptation of Left Behind seem interesting. This looks like the kind of movie we'll be making fun of for years to come, with a complete lack of subtlety, overwrought dialogue, and pretty much every cliche in the book, this story of the Rapture just looks abysmal. And this is just a teaser trailer. We're not sure if we can endure a full length theatrical trailer. Are we sure Cage isn't playing some massive prank of all of us? It would be a really good one. Watch? Here's the teaser trailer for Vic Armstrong's Left Behind from YouTube: And here's the terribly photoshopped poster for Left Behind from Imp Awards: Left Behind is directed by Vic Armstrong...

I can't remember when it was exactly, but a long time ago I started reading Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins' "Left Behind" series of novels focusing on events following The Rapture. I was intrigued after the first one, but I don't think I got beyond four of them (I think there are 12) before I got so bored with it all. Flat out, they just aren't very good, even for airport fiction. Already, Kirk Cameron has starred in three movies based on the series and now Nicolas Cage is taking a stab at it and today we have the first trailer and poster for the film due in theaters on October 3. Starring Cage alongside Chad Michael Murray, Jordin Sparks, Lea Thompson, Nicky Whelan and Cassi Thomson, the story centers on a small group of survivors are left behind after millions of people suddenly vanish and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction.

As we all know too well, Bavarian castles don't pay for themselves, and Nicolas Cage will sometimes say "yes" to anything. Sometimes that can lead to smart, challenging work like this summer's "Joe," a micro-budgeted indie that he would have never thought twice about when Cage was riding high in his "Con Air" heyday. But it can also lead to movies like "Left Behind," which, if the just-released teaser trailer is any indication, might be our most ironically anticipated film of 2014 (sorry, "Sharknado 2").
"Left Behind" is based on a series of best-selling evangelical books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, which began in 1995, that dramatize what the world would look like following the rapture. The series had been adapted once before, with 2000's Kirk Cameron-starring "Left Behind: The Movie."

Quiz any random person on the street about Nicolas Cage‘s impressive body of work and they’ll be able to give you their favorite Cageist moment from his repertoire. Is it Wicker Man Cage, his head enveloped in a metal cage, screaming about the bees, oh god the bees? Or National Treasure Cage, plotting to steal the Declaration of Independence just because it makes so much sense? Or perhaps it’s Ghost Rider Cage, the one who is literally on fire for most of the movie? Whatever the preferred flavor of Cage Rage, there’s a guaranteed new addition to be added to the list of stellar performances. Enter Left Behind, the adaptation of the Christian apocalypse-themed books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins. While "The Wicker Man" remains the ultimate in Nicolas Cage gift-giving, providing the internet with an abundance of animated gifs and mashups of the one-liners and insanity within, a new contender is on the horizon: "Left Behind." The first clip is here, and it is glorious. In case you forgot, this remake/reboot is an adaptation of the apocalyptic Christian-themed books by Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins, which are best known for being a hit with kind of folks who really like religious movies starring Kirk Cameron (he featured in the God-approved trilogy of movies). Somehow, the filmmakers of that original trilogy managed to snare Cage for this new take, presumably by promising him Superman memorabilia or something. Anyway, veteran stuntman Vic Armstrong (everything from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" to "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit") is given the thankless task of directing this movie—about a group of survivors following...

It appears to be time to rework that teaser one-sheet and scrub out one of those credits. I guess former “High School Musical” star Ashley Tisdale had other things to do. Maybe there’s another “Scary Movie” sequel out there that needs a perky blonde? Or, if we’re lucky, a “High School Musical” reunion movie! (One can only hope.) In any case, Tisdale is now out of the upcoming rapture movie “Left Behind”, and will be replaced by “Big Love” star Cassi Thompson. Thompson will play the daughter of Nicolas Cage’s character, a pilot onboard a plane when the rapture hits and people start disappearing, leaving behind a world filled with sinners. Thompson’s character, meanwhile, will be “trying to find her mother and brother in a post-apocalyptic landscape”.
