When a movie is as big as Crocodile Dundee, you better believe there will be a sequel. Audiences renting a VHS tape of the movie back in 1987 had a little introduction before the film, teasing the fact that a sequel was in the works, something all of us kids who grew up on this movie were psyched by.
So when the first one came out, Paul Hogan became a massive international star. He was already big in Australia, but before Crocodile Dundee, Hogan was mostly known for his ‘Shrimp on the Barbie’ Australian Tourism adverts. By 1987, he was so popular that he was one of the three hosts of the 1987 Academy Awards, opposite Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase. Crocodile Dundee II would be a much bigger film than its predecessor. After all, this wasn’t a tiny Australian indie anymore. It was a big studio film, with Paramount Pictures, who distributed the first film,...

“In over 50 years of our friendship, there were very few people as wise or hilarious when it came to comedy, teaching improvisation and the art of character work as Joe,” Short wrote in a press statement. “In ‘Sctv’ we called him the anchor. In life, he was simply the funniest man in the room. I just adored him.”

The Criterion Collection is known for their dedication to championing classic and contemporary movies we should all be seeing, showcasing them with exquisite transfers and film school-level special features. But when it comes to their streaming service The Criterion Channel, the catalog is a bit looser. And it got weird and worse(?) this month, as they added a 14-title retrospective of the Golden Raspberry Awards. Titled “And the Razzie Goes To…”, Criterion’s grouping compiles 14 movies that come complete with bees, turkey time and whatever the hell Tom Green was doing for the duration of Freddy Got Fingered.
Here is the full list of Razzie flicks now available on The Criterion Channel: Cruising (1980), Heaven’s Gate (1980), Xanadu (1980), Querelle (1982), Under the Cherry Moon (1986), Ishtar (1987), Cocktail (1988), Showgirls (1995), Barb Wire (1996), The Blair Witch Project (1999), Freddy Got Fingered (2001), Swept Away (2002), Gigli (2003), and The Wicker Man (2006). Tom Green has cancer. It is early 2000, and he is about to go under for surgery, and guess what? He’s recording the whole thing because he would like to educate you on the world of testicular cancer, and if you can see his internal organs while doing so, so be it. And so there he is at 28 years old in a hospital gown, making jokes while medical professionals get ready to chop off one of his nuts. “This is going to freaking suck,” he says. But, if we know anything about him, nothing is off limits for Tom Green. It was the ultimate combination of tragedy and comedy; you have a young man in his prime facing death while telling the world’s greatest testicle joke. This comedian turned cancer into performance art, which made me believe God might have a twisted sense of humor… kinda like Tom Green himself.

Kato Kaelin recently spoke about appearing on the second season of Celebrity Big Brother USA.
CBB2 aired during the winter of 2019, with CBS seeking to duplicate the first season’s success in the winter of 2018.
Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves returned for the shortened celebrity version of the show – with $250,000 going to the winner.
Twelve houseguests appeared in CBB2, including Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, Blossom actor Joey Lawrence, and WWE wrestler Natalie Eva Marie.
Singer and reality TV star Tamar Braxton was voted the winner of former NFL running back Ricky Williams. They beat out Olympic runner Lolo Jones and Dina Lohan (Lindsay Lohan’s mom) to make the final vote.
Kato finished in eighth place – evicted on Day 20 of the game. It meant he spent roughly three weeks living in the Big Brother house that winter.

There is, a critic will argue, a great deal of value in finding and discussing the worst films of the year. All the films released in a given epoch are a reflection of the trends and ideas that produced them, and scoring the bottom of the barrel for the worst filmmaking, the worst ideas, and the most misguided thinking will provide a valuable analysis of where we are as a society. Worst-of lists are important and vital and should be written with enthusiasm. They also let critics blow off steam a little bit; we don't have the luxury to skip bad movies or avoid talking about the ones we hate. It's our job.
The Golden Raspberries, or the Razzies for short, however, lost sight of that value a while back. The annual Razzies announcement is usually a snarky affair that only serves to pick on the year's least popular blockbusters,...

Some apotheosis of film culture has been reached with Freddy Got Fingered‘s addition to the Criterion Channel. Three years after we interviewed Tom Green about his consummate film maudit, it’s appearing on the service’s Razzie-centered program that also includes the now-admired likes of Cruising, Heaven’s Gate, Querelle, and Ishtar; the still-due likes of Under the Cherry Moon; and the more-contested Gigli, Swept Away, and Nicolas Cage-led Wicker Man. In all cases it’s an opportunity to reconsider one of the lamest, thin-gruel entities in modern culture.

Drew Barrymore may have just gotten engaged to comedian Pauly Shore! While the whole ordeal played out on “The Drew Barrymore Show” Friday, Barrymore told Shore, a longtime friend, that he’s “going to have to stay tuned to find out my answer” before shouting: “I love you so much!”
The conversation began after Barrymore gushed over Shore’s kindness and character toward the end of the episode, calling him “an amazing force of light,” which led to Shore reflecting on why he hasn’t been able to make relationships last. He also admitted that his mother was upset when Barrymore married Tom Green in 2001 and thought that she should marry Shore instead.
That’s when, standing above her on the sound studio stage, he pulled out a whopper of a diamond ring and proposed to her on one knee.
“That’s how Mitzy felt?” Barrymore asked, shocked.

Despite saying she loves keeping her daughters entertained, Hollywood star Drew Barrymore draws the line at her girls’ iPads and keeps them locked away in a safe to stop them getting hooked on screens.
The ‘Et’ actress, 48, has daughters Olive, 10, and nine-year-old Frankie with her ex-husband Will Kopelman, 45, and has admitted she is a strict mum when it comes to monitoring their use of electronics, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
She told Better Homes and Gardens magazine: “We watch a ton of movies and shows so I’m not judging anyone about screens.”
“But when it comes to my kids, I’m not a huge fan of personal electronics, like iPads.”
“During the pandemic when schools were virtual we were forced into all being on our separate devices and I didn’t like it.”

This article contains spoilers for Clone High season 1 and the season 2 premiere.
What memories does the year 2003 stir up? The first Pirates of the Caribbean film? Ugg Boots? Freedom Fries? When the only Fast and Furious franchise sequel was 2 Fast and 2 Furious? It was a time when two fresh faced geeks, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller didn’t have The Lego Movie or Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse under their belt. In fact, they practically had no experience in Hollywood, let alone some of the most revered animated work of their era.
To cut their teeth in business, the soon-to-be dynamic duo partnered with producer Bill Lawrence (who was the force behind Spin City and Scrubs at the time and had Ted Lasso on his future docket) to create 13 episodes of a little known animated show that premiered on Teletoon in Canada and eventually MTV in the U.S. That show was Clone High,...

Nicholas Hoult may have stolen the hearts of teenagers everywhere with his portrayal of bad boy Tony Stonem in the UK series "Skins," but despite the show premiering in 2007, he hasn't actually ever watched it himself. The actor played the lead role in the first two seasons, but he told Tom Green on "Hits Radio Breakfast" that it's just too difficult for him to look back.
"I've never even watched it!" he admitted. "I've never watched it. Maybe at some point, I think it would be too painful for me to watch." Nicholas Hoult has shared some insight into his adolescence, claiming that it was less like the teenage antics depicted in Skins than people might assume.
The actor played Tony Stonem, a popular sixth-form student with a large group of friends and several romantic suitors, in seasons one and two of the teen drama.
Airing for seven seasons between 2007 to 2013, Skins was considered groundbreaking for its explicit and dark depictions of young people’s lives, covering topics such as mental health issues, drug and alcohol abuse and suicide.
However, in a new interview on Hits Radio Breakfast, Hoult claimed that his younger years weren’t nearly as dramatic as those of his character.
“My life was more Inbetweeners,” he told show host Tom Green, adding: “Watching that I was like, this I can relate to in many ways more.”

The Fall of 2001 was a tense time in America, to say the least. The 9/11 attacks had permanently altered the course of history as grief and paranoia swept the country over. A brewing war in Afghanistan heralded escalating violence overseas, while at home there appeared a strange, spooky bioterrorism campaign that weaponized the bacteria called anthrax. "Amerithrax," as the FBI called it, involved a series of infected letters mailed to prominent media figures and two Senators, leading to the death of five people and long-lasting health problems for more. 30 Rockefeller Plaza, headquarters of NBC, was among the targets, which meant that "Saturday Night Live" and its host during the height of the attacks, Drew Barrymore, could do nothing but crack jokes knowing that anthrax may have been floating through the building.
The anthrax saga started with the hospitalization and subsequent death of Robert Stevens on October 4, 2001, an event that initially seemed like an isolated incident.

Step aside Austin Butler, there’s a new Elvis in the building.
Hot off of Butler’s turn as the King of Rock ‘n Roll for Baz Luhrmann’s mind-bending biopic “Elvis,” Jacob Elordi will play the “Jailhouse Rock” crooner for A24 drama “Priscilla.”
Based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir “Elvis and Me,” the film will be directed by Sofia Coppola and star “Mare of Easttown” breakout Cailee Spaeny as the ex-wife of Elvis. Coppola also adapted Priscilla’s New York Times bestselling memoir for the big screen.
Per a Deadline source, Spaeny was Coppola’s first choice to portray Priscilla, while “Euphoria” star Elordi auditioned for the role of Elvis. The film marks Oscar winner Coppola’s first feature since “On the Rocks” starring Rashida Jones and longtime collaborator Bill Murray. Coppola also produces the film, along with Fremantle Company, American Zoetrope, and Sony’s Stage 6 Films will finance the film.

Famous exes Drew Barrymore and Justin Long reunited and reflected on their relationship. Long appeared on the season three premiere of "The Drew Barrymore Show" on Sept. 12, and the duo took the opportunity to talk about their past relationship and how much they've changed in the years since.
The show shared a clip of Long's appearance on its Twitter account. "I feel like we've been through so much together," Barrymore explained in the video, wiping tears from her eyes. "When we used to talk and FaceTime I was always like, 'You know, I've really grown up, Justin.' I always wanted to prove to you what a different person I was than when we dated."
Long said, "You were the best." Barrymore continued, "We had so much fun but we were more hedonistic. A little more immature. We would get together, we would break up. It was chaos. It was hella fun.

It’s time to admit that Drew Barrymore is America’s sweetheart. Who else can even hold a candle to her charisma? Her charm? Her earnestness? No one, that’s who.
Over the last couple years, Barrymore has been in a bit of a career renaissance. After her (excellent) Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet was canceled, she went on hiatus from acting and pursued a new calling: daytime talk show host.

Each week we highlight the noteworthy titles that have recently hit streaming platforms in the United States. Check out this week’s selections below and past round-ups here.
Camera (David Cronenberg)
One of David Cronenberg’s most haunting projects contains nary an exploding head or freshly formed orifice. 2000’s Camera instead turns its smeary digital lens towards an aging thespian, his depressive musings compounded by the most rapid-fire tempo Cronenberg’s ever waged. A key part of the canon that’s nevertheless flown under-radar, and Le Cinéma Club present it, free, for one week as Crimes of the Future arrives. – Nick N.
Where to Stream: Le Cinéma Club
Fire Island (Andrew Ahn)
Fire Island is primarily a retelling of Pride and Prejudice. In a similar vein to Clueless, the masterful modernization of another Jane Austen novel, Ahn and writer / co-lead Joel Kim Booster have updated the classic romance novel with a fresh twist.

Since 1980, UCLA film grads and industry veterans John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy have honored the very worst in cinema with the Razzie Awards. Here’s a look back to the worst pictures of the last four decades.
“Can’t Stop the Music” (1980)
The Golden Raspberry Awards got their start by recognizing this musical comedy, a justly mocked quasi-biopic of the Village People.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 8%
“Mommie Dearest” (1981)
Faye Dunaway goes full camp as Joan Crawford in a docudrama whose comedy was often unintentional.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 53%
“Inchon” (1982)
This bloated, over-budget Korean war film starring Laurence Olivier as Gen. Douglas MacArthur was an epic turkey.
Rotten Tomatoes score: 0%
“The Lonely Lady” (1983)
Pia Zadora followed her mysterious (and widely mocked in retrospect) Golden Globe win for “Butterfly” with this adaptation of a trashy Harold Robbins novel about a schoolgirl/wannabe screenwriter.

Mads Brügger’s feature directorial debut, The Red Chapel, took a Tom Green-via-Sacha Baron-Cohen approach to infiltrating North Korea, with the director finagling himself and two comics — both adopted from North Korea, one with spastic paralysis — into the country. Given that it’s not hard to make an actual absurd environment appear absurd on screen, he emerged with fairly pointless cringe comedy: plenty of awkwardness all round but no real surprises. So it’s interesting to hear Brügger admit at the start of The Mole that The Red Chapel, while an […]

Based on the first two seasons, Season 3 will likely be 13 episodes long and air over two and a half weeks again. Live feeds will be available 24/7 on Paramount+.

It was a near-unanimous vote over his block-mate Britini D’Angelo, with only Derek Frazier casting a pity vote to keep him. Following Frenchie’s one-on-one chat with Julie Chen Moonves, the eligible players competed in a Head of Household competition hosted by “Celebrity Bb” player Tom Green, with Xavier Prather answering the most correct questions. We know we’re supposed to expect the unexpected during any given Big Brother season… but heading into Thursday’s episode, it was hard to imagine anything derailing a certain farmer’s eviction from the Season 23 house.
After a power-trippy Head of Household reign left Frenchie a little too big for his camo overalls last week, he became Hoh Kyland’s primary target this time around, and a second consecutive Power of Veto win for Derek X. left both Frenchie and Britini as the week’s nominees. Still, was Frenchie’s eviction ultimately the foregone conclusion that it seemed? Read...

Heading into Thursday’s live eviction episode of “Big Brother,” Britini D’Angelo and Brandon “Frenchie” French had both been nominated for eviction by Head of Household Kyland Young. They had a chance to save themselves in the Power of Veto competition, but Derek Xiao claimed victory instead (his second consecutive Veto of the summer) and opted not to use it. That meant either Britini or Frenchie were about to be eliminated, so the Jokers would soon be losing a team member. How did the live eviction play out, and which houseguest ended the night with a one-on-one conversation with Julie Chen Moonves?
