Exclusive: We can tell you first that Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary of Revelations Entertainment and Jay Firestone of Prodigy Pictures are partnering with geneticist and Crispr pioneer George Church to develop and produce a dramatic series centered on the dangerous and life-affirming ways the technology can impact the world.
The series, to be written and produced by Nick Torokvei, explores the personal and global implications of cutting-edge gene editing and engineering technologies being used in the effort to combat climate change.
“We are honored to be working directly with George Church,” Freeman and McCreary said. “He has been at the forefront of new genetic technology that is certain to impact all of our lives in more ways – and faster – than we think.”
Firestone, who has produced series dealing with aspects of science and fantasy, originally met Church at a Science & Entertainment Exchange event. “George’s work could have a profound impact on the environment.

Syfy is jumping into the comic book-adaptation game, having acquired the rights to Dark Horse's Dark Matter graphic novel series. The network has picked up a 13-episode series based on Dark Matter, which actually only spawned four issues. The series will keep things in the Syfy family, as the original Dark Matter comics comes from Stargate writers Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. The original comic tells the story of a spaceship crew who all wake up from stasis with no memory of their mission or even who they are. They begin to look for answers when the ship reaches its destination,...

(Cbr) TVLine has reported that Syfy has added "Dark Matter," a drama series based on the Dark Horse Comics limited series of the same name, to their 2015 schedule. The series was created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, a pair of writers and producers that have been associated with the "Stargate" franchise through it's evolution from "Sg-1" to "Universe." The duo will reportedly helm the thirteen episodes ordered by Syfy. The comic series, originally published in early 2012, tracks the advetures of a starship crew that wakes up from stasis with no clue as to who they are or what their mission is. The series featured art from Garry Brown and colors from Ryan Hill. "'Dark Matter' is a refreshing and entertaining space opera that blends an intriguing premise with fast-paced suspense," Syfy programming Svp Chris Regina told TVLine. "It will be a terrific addition to our primetime schedule next year.

There's always one day during the Sdcc when you just shake your head, laugh, and say, "This schedule is ridiculous." Saturday, July 20th, is shaping up to be that day this year.
Horror fans will have a lot of choices to make as the "Bates Motel" panel battles the one-two punch of Godzilla and Seventh Son. Later in the day you'll be faced with choosing to learn more about "True Blood," Telltale's The Walking Dead video game, or "Being Human." Right now 20th Century Fox's presentation that runs at the same time remains "To Be Announced," but once details are revealed, we'll provide an update.
Other panels vying for your attention throughout the day are "The Originals," "Grimm," I, Frankenstein teamed with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (that combination should make for some interesting audience reactions), a look at gameplay from Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, more games, comics,...

Now that is seems that Lost Girl is handing out fantastic guest star casting news like candy, it’s time to get greedy big. Sure, the news last week that Bomb Girls star Ali Liebert, The L Word/Defiance star Mia Kirshner and needs-no-introduction George Takei would appear in Season 4 of the hit Showcase/Syfy show seemed almost too exciting to bear. But you mustn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.
Lost Girl Executive Producer Emily Andras called the casting news a “LGBTnerdsplsion,” which sounds just about right. But things can always get even better. So let’s make a wish list for the rest of the season. As long as Lost Girl is looking to bring in an all-star cast of actresses who have played gay to guest star, we’re happy to help.
How about Lucy Lawless, Lena Headey or Lisa Ray?...

When Rachel Skarsten swaggered onto the scene during the second episode of Lost Girl's third season, we knew right away that we were going to like her. Maybe it was the way Tamsin put Dyson in his place the first time she opened her mouth. Maybe it was the way Tamsin hopped into the boxing ring to go toe-to-toe with the fellas. Maybe it was because we still have a lot of love for Skarsten's Birds of Prey character, Dinah Lance. Or maybe it's her one-paragraph biography that boasts a degree in English Literature and Classical History, and a hockey championship. The more we get to know Tamsin and Skarsten, them more we love them. Lucky for us, she took time out of her busy schedule to chat about the upcoming Lost Girl finale, about Tamsin's relationship with Bo, and...

We don't mention it a lot around here, but Syfy's supernatural series "Lost Girl" is the number one original cable drama among Adults 18-49 and 25-54 in its time period (Monday, 10Pm) so it obviously has a lot of fans. Which must be why the network announced its renewal for a fourth season.
From the Press Release:
In the series’ current third season, which ends Monday, April 22nd, at 10Pm (Et/Pt), "Lost Girl" is averaging 676,000 Adults 18-49, 721,000 Adults 25-54, and 1.3 million total viewers. Look for 13 all-new episodes to begin airing in 2014.
Anna Silk (Being Erica) stars as seductress Bo, a Succubus (a powerful female entity in folklore) who feeds off sexual energy. Bo is one of the Fae, creatures of legend who pass as humans. Faced with choosing between an allegiance to the Dark or Light Fae clans, Bo takes the middle path between the human and Fae worlds...

Hopefully you’ve been watching this really fun, entertaining supernatural show. If not, now’s the time to get going on that. Lost Girl brings us new supernatural creatures nearly every week as well as longer story arcs, some nice fight scenes, great cast chemistry, and lots of sex between pretty people. What’s not to like?
The series is produced in Canada and airs on Showcase there; Showcase and Syfy both announced the new season pickup yesterday. Unfortunately, while Canada is getting the next season in late 2013, we in the U.S. have to wait until 2014. Hopefully that isn’t set in stone…

Kris Holden-Ried and Anna Silk star in Lost Girl.
The Canadian channel Showcase has ordered a fourth season of its supernatural series Lost Girl. The show has consistently been Showcase’s number one scripted series and is an international hit.
“Lost Girl remains an anchor series for Showcase, and with its sharp writing and palpable cast chemistry, it has amassed a fan following second-to-none,” said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President, Content, Shaw Media. “We are delighted to bring fans another season of the series and can’t wait to see where the creative team takes the story next.”
Currently halfway through its third season on Showcase, Lost Girl is centered on sexy succubus Bo (Anna Silk). Bo is a strong-willed and independent member of a community of creatures of legend and folklore called Fae that exists in our modern world. It’s true; no matter what certain networks may claim about their “winter finales,” winter doesn’t actually start until December 21, and isn’t over until March 20. Syfy, at least, understands this, and has announced their appropriately-titled winter schedule accordingly.
Happily this means that, starting on Monday, January 14, 2013, we will have some great television to get us through the cold months, including the return of Being Human and Lost Girl, and the premiere of Continuum, and later in the week, the return of Ghost Hunters and Face Off.
Here’s the schedule of premieres, along with series synopses:
Syfy’S 2013 Winter Programming Highlighted By Series Premieres Of Ghost Mine, Robot Combat League, Stranded And Continuum Season Returns Of Hits Being Human, Face Off, Total Blackout, Ghost Hunters, Lost Girl, Haunted Collector And Final Season Of Merlin
