The already impressive cast of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Frankenstein movie for Netflix continues to grow, with del Toro taking to Twitter this week to announce that Ralph Ineson will make a “pivotal cameo” appearance in the film.
“He is amazing and fun to work with,” del Toro added in the aforementioned tweet, which came in response to Fangoria celebrating Ralph Ineson as a “modern day horror icon.”
Ineson responded to del Toro’s tweet, “Thank you Boss, your set is a joyous place to be.”
Jacob Elordi will be playing Frankenstein’s monster in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of the classic Mary Shelley novel, alongside Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Oscar Isaac.

Guillermo del Toro is working on his own adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and Deadline reports today that Jacob Elordi will take over the role of Frankenstein’s iconic monster for actor Andrew Garfield.
Elordi joins previously announced cast members Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Oscar Isaac, who will play Victor Frankenstein.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein follows brilliant scientist Victor Frankenstein, who brings his monster to life in an experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation. It feels safe to assume that del Toro will bring heightened emotions and sympathy for Frankenstein’s creation.
The acclaimed filmmaker previously said of his Frankenstein at the 10th-anniversary screening of Pacific Rim, “I’m doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it. We start shooting in February, and it’s a movie I have been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein.

Jacob Elordi is expanding his auteur collaborations and will star in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming “Frankenstein” as the titular monster.

Garfield was originally cast; due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the star exited the project following scheduling conflicts.
Oscar Isaac is set to play scientist Victor Frankenstein, with Mia Goth, Christoph Watlz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, and Christian Convery rounding out the cast.
Academy Award winner del Toro is writing, directing, and producing “Frankenstein,” along with producer J. Miles Dale. Guillermo del Toro has worked on a lot of projects (and I mean a lot) that have never been made. Because of this, he seems to have adopted a handy waste not, want not approach to directing. For example, when his "Haunted Mansion" film fell apart, he channeled those energies into his sumptuous haunted house flick, "Crimson Peak." Then, when his plans to remake "Beauty and the Beast" and "Creature from the Black Lagoon" fell through, he basically merged the two films to create his Oscar-winning girl-meets-fishboy romance, "The Shape of Water." In fact, I'd go so far as to argue that what del Toro actually directs is usually better than what he originally had in mind.
That bodes well for his next film, "Frankenstein." A new take on Mary Shelley's Gothic sci-fi/horror masterpiece has been one of del Toro's white whales for a very long time. At one point,...

Dark Universe, Universal’s scrapped attempt to make a series of reboots of their classic monster properties that would crossover with each other, was overseen by Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan – but long before Kurtzman and Morgan got involved, Universal had offered Guillermo del Toro the chance to take over their monster universe. Del Toro turned down the opportunity, which is a choice he regretted. But now his longtime producing partner J. Miles Dale has said that he is building his own monster universe with his original projects. Del Toro’s Best Picture winner The Shape of Water was a take on Creature from the Black Lagoon, and he’s now developing a live-action of adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Netflix has canceled its drama series Sex/Life after two seasons.
The decision comes five weeks after the show’s second season (consisting of six episodes, down from eight in season one) debuted — and three weeks after star Sarah Shahi signed on to star in Judgement, a legal drama in contention for next season at ABC.
Season two brought an ending of sorts to the story as Shahi’s Billie reunited with her ex, Brad (Adam Demos), and got married on a beach. Showrunner Stacy Rukeyser, however, told The Hollywood Reporter that she didn’t view the last episode as the end of the series.
“The episode was never intended to be a series finale, that’s for sure,” Rukeyser told THR a week after season two premiered. “I know there are always more stories to tell with these characters in the Sex/Life universe, and I hope we get the chance to tell those stories.

The thing about anthology series is that they inevitably invite comparison. Why would you present me with several distinct stories if you didn’t want me to rank them all from worst to best? Though that just might a me thing.
In any case, new Netflix horror anthology Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities presents eight unconnected tales of terror for viewers to experience. Even the folks behind the series understand that the diversity of options presented means that audiences will prefer some to others.
“With anthologies, I think it just comes down to what your taste is,” Cabinet producer J. Miles Dale tells Den of Geek. “With this show I think there’s something for everybody – whether it’s a director’s vision, or the material, or the setting, or the actors, or the dialog, or the scares. Unlike a continuing series, you can do it in bite-sized pieces.

This article contains spoilers for Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities “The Autopsy”
One of the horror genre’s greatest tools is the fear humans have of examining their own bodies. We constantly hear about what makes us tick, we know all of the organs instrumental to our survival, but to see them raw, unfiltered, and treated with nonchalance is jarring.
In “The Autopsy,” one of the best episodes of Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, the human body is nothing but a test subject. The hour hits all of the right notes with bodily fear, and it sticks the landing with a final 15 minutes that takes gore to a level very much not for the faint of heart. If you love seeing sharp objects ripping apart delicate flesh, this is the right type of film for you.
The Autopsy starts with some necessary exposition, albeit a narrative...

This article contains spoilers for only the intros of Cabinet of Curiosities.
Good horror anthologies can speak for themselves. But it’s still never a bad idea to have a host hype them up anyway.
That’s something that the classics understood like The Twilight Zone with its provocative opening monologues from creator Rod Serling and Alfred Hitchcock Presents with the horror maestro’s equally enigmatic intros. It’s also something that the latest entry into the horror anthology canon, Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, understands as well.
Ever the student of film and pop culture history, the eponymous Guillermo del Toro begins each of his series eight installments with a self-written introduction of what’s to come.
According to series co-creator and del Toro’s collaborator J. Miles Dale, not going the Serling or Hitchcock route was never an option.

As Disney Animation moves toward its 100th anniversary, the studio is collaborating with the producers of Immersive Van Gogh to create Disney Animation Immersive Experience, set to open this December in Toronto.
“A combination of an art exhibit and movie theater” is how Oscar-winning producer J. Miles Dale (The Shape of Water), who is leading the creative team, describes the walk-thru experience. He says it will incorporate “three-quarters” of the century of Disney titles from early work like Snow White to The Little Mermaid, Frozen and Encanto — along with their classic music — while taking advantage of projection mapping to create a 360-degree experience.
Working with Toronto-based Lighthouse Immersive, Disney Animation plans to open the experience at Lighthouse ArtSpace Toronto and then visit additional cities including Cleveland, Nashville, Detroit, Denver, Boston, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Columbus in early 2023. Anaheim’s Disneyland is in the plans.
