Lily Allen is calling out Russell Brand for a rape joke made at her expense between himself, Jimmy Carr, Noel Fielding and Jonathan Ross.
The 38-year-old “Smile” singer recalled the moment on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year in 2007.
At the start of the show, Jonathan moved Lily, “the only sexually attractive young lady” on the panel, away from panelists Russell and Noel Fielding to the “sexless zone,” saying it was to protect her.
Keep reading to find out more…
“And then Lily may go home with her dress still on,” Jonathan said, to which The Great British Bake Off co-host responded: “How dare you – we’re not rapists.”
Jimmy then asked why he was wearing a cape “if [he] wasn’t a rapist,” with Noel explaining that his cape was actually a Jack the Ripper cape.
“He wasn’t a rapist, he was a…” Noel replied, before Russell added: “Serial murderer.

Exclusive: Russell Brand’s last major television job in the UK ended with him being dropped after he was repeatedly accused of being a “sexual predator” during the recording of the show.

Bill Bailey has shared a touching tribute to Sean Lock.
The comedian posted a throwback photo of the pair out on a country walk 19 months after Lock died of cancer.
Bailey captioned the photo on Twitter: “Some days I still can’t quite believe he’s gone. Today is one of those days.”
He capped the post: “Miss you Sean old pal.”
Bailey participated in a charity walk one year after Lock’s death, raising more than £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support alongside Lee Mack and Lock’s family.
Last year, Bailey said that Lock was still cracking jokes in his final days. “Even in his last few days, we were still having a laugh, still joking, still coming up with ideas,” he said.
“We had great conversations. I brought in my guitar and sang him his favourite Johnny Cash songs.”

The Word was a magazine-style entertainment show that ran from 1990 to 1995 on the UK’s Channel 4. It was helmed by Mancunian motormouth Terry Christian and a medley of once and future stars, including Amanda de Cadenet, Dani Behr, Katie Puckrik, and Mark Lamarr. The show was the brainchild of Charlie Parsons and Terry Christian, who were tasked with filling the hip, cultural hole left behind by the departure of music-oriented, youth-skewed shows like The Tube.
The Word began life in August 1990 as a tame, tea-time shadow of the fearlessly innovative show it would later become. What saved it from becoming a real-life version of Nozin’ Aroun’ – the spoof youth show so insufferably condescending it prompted Rik to destroy his TV set in the anarchic 1980’s BBC sitcom The Young Ones – was the decision by Channel 4’s Chief Executive Michael Grade to shift transmission from 6pm to late-night. Quentin Tarantino has named seven “unassailable” movies.
The director appeared on Thursday’s episode (27 October) of Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote his newly released book Cinema Speculation.
In his book – which is described as part-memoir, part-Hollywood history, and part-film theory – Tarantino writes that there are “very few perfect movies” but that Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of them.
The slasher film directed by Tobe Hooper has become a cult classic since its release in 1974.
Asked by host Jimmy Kimmel what other films he considers to be “perfect”, Tarantino replied: “Well, there’s not many of them – that just bemoans that the film art form is hard.”
“And look, when you say perfect movies you’re talking about any individual person’s aesthetic but even trying to account for all aesthetics… perfect movies kind of crosses all aesthetics to one degree or another. It might not be your cup of tea...

She then recalled her first experience joining David Letterman on his show.

“He said my name wrong, and I just sat there, like, ‘I grew up my whole life in love with you. And now my heart is broken. And I’m sitting here embarrassed and humiliated.’”

You can tell how much a late-night chat show host esteems their guests’ comic chops by how much rope they give them.
If you’re a little funny, James Corden might prompt you to re-tell a story that’s been cleared by producers and informally rehearsed in the green room. If you’re completely dire, there’s no way Jimmy Fallon lets you escape the question and answer format.

According to those who saw the premiere screening of Black Panther 2 in Los Angeles on Wednesday (26 October), it sounds as if the film does Boseman proud.
Many critics in attendance have agreed that the film is a “powerful” and “beautiful” tribute to Boseman.

Famous pornographic actor Harry Reems nearly starred in Grease, alongside John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The late porn star – real name Herbert Streicher and best known for his role in the 1972 adult film Deep Throat – was initially hired for the role of Coach Calhoun, who aids Travolta’s Danny Zuko in his quest to join a sports team to impress Sandy (Newton-John).
“Allan [Carr, the producer] wanted to have the porn star Harry Reems play that part,” director Randal Kleiser revealed on a recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter’s It Happened in Hollywood podcast.
“He actually hired him, and then the studio said, ‘No, no, no. You can’t do that.’ And so they had to fire him,” he added.
After pressure from the studio forced them to drop Reems, comedian Sid Caesar ended up assuming the role as the fan-favourite Rydell High faculty member.

Netflix viewers have condemned the ending of the new No 1 series The Watcher.
Based on a true story, the seven-episode series follows a married couple who move into a house in Westfield, New Jersey, and find themselves being harassed by a sinister figure known as The Watcher.
Spoilers follow for the ending of The Watcher...
In the series, the couple (played by Naomie Watts and Bobby Cannavale) seem to have put the mystery to bed when Theodora (Noma Dumezweni), the private detective they had hired, confesses to being The Watcher.
Theodora claims that she was a previous occupant of the house who wanted to get them to move out so she could get back in. However, this is later debunked, as it is revealed that the terminally ill Theodora lied and simply wished to give the family some closure before she died.
The series thus ends with the couple moving out,...

House of the Dragon: Olivia Cooke on whether that pivotal Viserys scene was truly a misunderstanding
House of the Dragon star Olivia Cooke has shed some light on a pivotal line of dialogue in the show’s eighth episode.
The Game of Thrones spin-off series, which stars Cooke as Alicent Hightower, came to an explosive end on Sunday (23 October).
*Spoilers for House of the Dragon episode eight, nine and 10 below – you have been warned*
In the show’s eighth episode, Alicent and Rhaneyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) appear to bridge the divide at a family feast held by King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine).
Alicent goes so far as to tell Rhaenyra that she will make a “fine queen”, appearing to accept Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
At the end of the episode, however, a confused Viserys tells Alicent – who he may believe to be Rhaenyra in his sickly state – of Aegon the Conqueror’s dream. It is a premonition that he had previously shared with...

Back in 2017, the notion of a straight-to-streaming blockbuster seemed faintly ludicrous. When Netflix released Bright – the ruthlessly panned 100m “orc cop” film starring Will Smith – it felt like the mad folly of a company drunk on its own success. Five years, one pandemic and three prime ministers later, the prospect of Netflix releasing a film on that scale sounds like just another Friday.
The latest expensive release to grace the streamer’s catalogue is The School for Good and Evil. Directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids; 2016’s Ghostbusters), the film follows two teen girls who become enrolled in a magic school split into two conflicting factions (good and not-so-good). The whole thing is a sort of hodge-podge of different fantasy and fairytale tropes – Harry Potter by way of Shrek. Public domain IP is greedily plundered for characters: the school lumps characters like King Arthur’s progeny in with Prince Charming’s...

Taylor Swift’s latest album Midnights has become the best-selling record of 2022.
The singer released her 10th studio album on Friday (21 October), which includes 13 songs telling stories of “sleepless nights”.
You can read The Independent’s five-star review of the album here.
In a record breaking few days, Swift has sold over a million copies of the album in the US, according to Billboard.
The last time this feat was achieved was five years ago by Swift herself, when she released her album Reputation.
Swift’s vinyl sales are also nearing 500,000, making it the biggest-selling week for an album on the format since 1991 – when modern vinyl sales began to be tracked.
The news comes shortly after the star broke streaming service Spotify’s record of most album streams in a day. In the 24 hours after Midnights was released, Spotify announced that it had already broken the record for most-streamed album in a single day.

Netflix has reportedly indicated it has no plans to remove the recent Kanye West documentary Jeen-Yuhs amid the rapper’s ongoing antisemitism scandal.
Companies including fashion brand Balenciaga, talent agency CAA, and Vogue magazine have distanced themselves from West after he made a number of antisemitic comments on social media and in interviews.
Released earlier this year, jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy was a three-part documentary about West’s life, directed by Coodie & Chike.
According to a report in TMZ, Netflix’s position is that the company is “not in business” with West, because he was the documentary’s subject, and was not involved in the creation or promotion of the films.
The outlet also cites a Netflix source as saying that there is nothing antisemitic contained within the documentary.
It is also pointed out that the decision is consistent with Netflix’s past stance on content concerning controversial figures.
