In the mythology of comic book superheroes, Batman and Superman have been the two most enduring figures on the glossy pages. When it comes to the silver screen, however, the story is entirely different. While some deify the versions portrayed by Zack Snyder, others ridicule them for being darker, more psychologically complex, and morally grey heroes who are otherwise meant to be the beacon of hope and a self-made avenger of the oppressed.

While the comic book legend Frank Miller particularly associates himself with the darker representation of these pop culture icons, there is no single way of dissecting a creative work that has been reviewed, revisited, and rewritten by hundreds of authors and artists over dozens of decades throughout the last century.

Updated: A White Dudes for Harris online rally raised more than $4 million for Kamala Harris’ campaign, as a mix of vice presidential hopefuls, labor leaders and Hollywood celebrities sought to capitalize on the new Democratic enthusiasm with a bit of a twist.
On the virtual You Tube event, J.J. Abrams chipped in a $50,000 match, while figures like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Groban, Bradley Whitford, Rory O’Malley, Paul Scheer, Adam Conover, Sean Astin, Michael Kelly, Lance Bass, Tim Daly and Josh Gad appeared. Perhaps the biggest surprise was the appearance of Jeff Bridges, “The Dude” in The Big Lebowski.
“I’m white, I’m a dude and I’m for Harris,” Bridges said.
The viewership reached about 65,000, while more than 190,000 tuned in at some point, organizers said.

There have been many Stephen King movies on the big screen, but if you ask the master of horror himself, he thinks TV is a better medium for his work — specifically the TV miniseries. "I think my novels are much better suited for miniseries presentations," he says in the book "Hollywood's Stephen King." There have been a handful of King miniseries over the years — before "It" became two blockbuster movies, it was a beloved (and scary) miniseries starring Tim Curry. There was also "The Tommyknockers," "The Langoliers," and of course, Tobe Hooper's "Salem's Lot." These miniseries are all adaptations of King's pre-existing work, but in 1999, King tried something different: an original miniseries he wrote from scratch.
In 1997, King finally got a chance to adapt "The Shining" his way. The author spent decades complaining about Stanley Kubrick's acclaimed adaptation of his haunted hotel novel, and then ABC came along...

My Adventures with Superman is one of the most brilliant superhero animated series. Created by Brendan Clougher, Jake Wyatt, and Josie Campbell, the Adult Swim series tells the story of Superman aka Clark Kent as he starts his new job at The Daily Planet, with his roommate Jimmy Olson, and his senior intern at The Daily Planet who is none other than Lois Lane. They quickly become a team and try to bring in big stories so that they can become real reporters while Clark also tries to become the hero he is meant to be. My Adventures with Superman has great action but the brilliant thing about the series is that it isn’t an action series about Superman, it’s a series about a superhero and his relationships as he figures out who he really is. Few might remember John McTiernan's 2003 military thriller "Basic," a film that was, at the time, touted as a grand reunion between "Pulp Fiction" stars John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. Because of its star power, "Basic" cost $50 million to make, but raked in a paltry $43 million at the box office. It currently sits at a 21% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and I recall reading Roger Ebert's scathing one-star review with a wince; Ebert said that "Basic" was "was not a film that could be understood," stating that it was so twisty and full of trickery that is might be better called a "jerk-around movie." To elucidate on Ebert's point, the plot description for "Basic" on Wikipedia runs eleven paragraphs. The film is only 98 minutes long.
The plot can, however, be explained (kind of), and we shall now, dear readers, endeavor to unpack this forgotten 2003 thriller for all future generations.

Only in Hollywood will one find a show about Supermen actors holding a group event at a pre-decided time, no matter how weird it may sound to those looking in from the outside. But the weirdness of Superman star, Sam Daly, and his extended DC family will have to wait because Henry Cavill has an appointment.

For the longest possible time, Henry Cavill had a terrible run-in with fans and critics when he fell off his tower shortly after the release of Justice League in 2017. The Witcher Seasons 2 and 3 aggravated the situation. Argylle almost closed the books on him forever. No one can pull off such a bad collection of horrible projects other than Nicolas Cage.

Superman is one of those superheroes who has always gained wide momentum among fans, becoming their favorite in the least time possible and continuing to rule their hearts through the indelible marks left behind by their stories. That being said, he has also earned multiple animated and live-action adaptations over the years, including the most recent one under James Gunn.
Superman. However, while all of those other animated projects gave the feeling of being like yet another cartoon show despite their outstanding storylines, this first animated series under Gunn’s reign as the co-ceo of the DC Universe, i.e. My Adventures with Superman, gave a different vibe. This was because it had the wildest idea for its core animation: Its main theme being anime-inspired!

Superman, the beloved Kryptonian superhero from the DC Universe, has been played by multiple actors over the years in numerous different adaptations — both good and not-so-good. And of all the talented masterminds who embodied him, the late Christopher Reeve and Henry Cavill are widely regarded as the best ones by far.
Superman in the comics. But oftentimes, Reeve’s performance is deemed even better than Cavill’s, and for reasons all too understandable. In fact, not only do fans of the late actor hold this opinion, but even the renowned Tim Daly, who voiced Clark Kent in the iconic award-winning Superman: The Animated Series, believes that Reeve’s Kal-El was “wonderful” for a reason that might not sit well with Cavill’s fans.

Fans may be anticipating James Gunn’s take on the Superman movie, but there’s another show that definitely puts a lot of twist in it, and that’s My Adventures with Superman animated series. The shonen anime-inspired project sees Clark Kent, voiced by Jack Quaid, as he juggles life as a superhero and his work at the Daily Planet.
My Adventures With Superman
Many hated the show, particularly Lois Lane’s portrayal, but executive producer Jake Wyatt thinks she’s “the Batman” in her relationship with Kent. What’s the deal with Lane, and why is everyone hating on her?
My Adventures With Superman Producers Called Lois Lane “The Batman”
In an interview with Comicsbeat, executive producers Jake Wyatt and Josie Campbell talked about Lois Lane in My Adventures with Superman. The latter claimed they pitched it as a rom-com with punching, and they also watched the ‘70s Superman film.

Tim Daly was 3 years and 15 days old when his would-be childhood hero George Reeves was found dead of an apparent suicide at age 45. The man who played Superman would go on to inspire countless other adaptations of DC characters, including Adam West’s Batman in 1966. Later, Daly himself became the Man of Steel in a legendary run of Superman: The Animated Series that began in 1996 and lasted till 2012.

Voice actors always have an important role to play in animated media franchises. Their job is to express the emotions that their characters are feeling only with their voices and it requires an incredible amount of skill and perfection to be able to do it consistently.

Live-action roles are very different from voice-acting roles and there are some in which the latter is arguably even harder. Superman is definitely one of those roles.

"The Fugitive" ran for four seasons on ABC from 1963 to 1967. The series followed Dr. Richard Kimble (David Janssen), a (you guessed it) fugitive accused of murdering his wife. Pursued across the country by lawman Philip Gerard (Barry Morse), he tries to prove his innocence by finding the real killer.
On one hand, "The Fugitive" is as episodic as you'd expect from a 1960s TV show. Each episode features Kimble in a different town with a new problem to solve. The backstory is also told via title sequence; the first episode, "Fear in a Desert City," is just another adventure for Kimble, not the murder, trial, and Kimble's escape the way it would be today. However, there's also some serialization with the story threads of Gerard hunting Kimble and Kimble hunting the real murderer, a one-armed man (Bill Raisch). These reach their conclusion in the finale, "The Judgment."

What Kevin Conroy was for Batman, Tim Daly was for Superman, who voiced the character in the ’90s Superman: The Animated Series. While the show itself isn’t as fondly remembered as Batman: The Animated Series, whose success paved the way for the show on the first hand, Daly did hit it out of the park with his performance as Clark Kent.
However, the acclaimed voice artist didn’t connect with Superman from the get-go, as it wasn’t until his later years that saw him developed a keen understanding of the character. But following the current landscape of superheroes, the Wings Star expressed his desire to get back to playing the Clark again, stressing the entertainment industry has gravitated way towards darkness.

After Batman: The Animated Series, the DC Animated Universe, or Dcau, also gained immense popularity through Superman: The Animated Series. The latter series was also critically acclaimed and gave us one of the best iterations of Clark Kent ever. However, the same cannot be said for Superman’s voice actor Tim Daly.
A still from Superman: The Animated Series
Despite being highly popular, Tim Daly did not reprise his Clark Kent role in Dcau’s Justice League series. Tim Daly could never rise to the level of Kevin Conroy, who made a massive name for voicing Batman across several DC projects. The Sopranos actor stated in an interview that he would like to reprise his role again and urged his fans to ask for the show’s renewal.

In the world of superheroes and their adversaries, few characters stand as iconic as Superman and his arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor. However, Tim Daly, who voiced Kal-El in Bruce Timm’s Superman: The Animated Series has shared a special affinity for another DC supervillain, who is often described as an anti-hero and a dark reflection of the Kryptonian superhero, Bizarro.
Superman: The Animated Series
He has made recurring appearances in the DC Animated Universe and has been voiced by numerous actors over the years. Daly also gave his voice to the character in The Animated Series, which offered him an insight into the character. The 67-year-old actor expressed empathy towards the villain, as he fondly recalled his time portraying the complex character.
Tim Daly Shared His Experience Working With Bizarro
Introduced in Superboy #68, Bizarro has been frequently seen as an antagonist clashing with Superman and has taken on the role of an anti-hero as well.

Bruce Timm co-created Superman: The Animated Series, which ran for four seasons and remains the defining depiction of the Man of Steel for an entire generation. However, unlike most kids’ shows of the 90s, the series takes an interesting approach to storytelling, particularly when it comes to exploring Superman’s origin story.
Superman: The Animated Series created by Alan Burnett and Bruce Timm
Superman: The Animated Series explores the titular hero’s origin story over three episodes, which was surprising for an animated series in the 90s. However, Timm explained how the idea came to be because the creative team faced little to no pushback from the executives. As a result, Timm admitted that the series was able to explore the full scope of Superman’s origin story, and here is how.

Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett’s Superman: The Animated Series, premiered in 1996, and followed the adventures of Superman while he defended the Earth from evil. The popular animated series, which was followed by the success of Batman: The Animated Series, ran until 2000. It is also known as the first animated series in Dcau to feature multiple superhero guest stars.
Superman: The Animated Series included appearances from Batman, Hawkgirl, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and more. The audience and the critics appreciated the series, especially for its writing, voiceover performances by the actors, and the modern take on Superman. While there have been many recognizable stars who have played Batman on screen, the credit for the distinctive voice of the character in various animated series and video games goes to the late Kevin Conroy. Beginning his stint with Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, Conroy went on to voice the iconic superhero in many television series and video games for over 3 decades.

Lex Luthor is one of the most celebrated villains of all time. Superman’s arch-nemesis is a genius, billionaire, and one of the most power-hungry characters in the comic-book world. The legendary character was portrayed to perfection by actor Clancy Brown in the Tim Daly starring animated show Superman: The Animated Series.
Bruce Timm’s follow-up to his Batman: The Animated Series was a Superman for a new generation as it became an influential piece of media for many other adaptations. It saw a much more vulnerable Superman, who did not smile or perpetually be optimistic like he was in the comics. However, Superman would have been completely different as Brown reportedly first auditioned for the role of Clark Kent in the show.

These days Marvel has been doing a pretty poor job of making films, before 2019 the franchise was a powerhouse, constantly delivering cinematic entertainment, with smash-hit box office records; all along with narrating a captivating superhero tale. However, the franchise has faced a steady decline in its popularity because after Avengers: Endgame, only a few films have marked a lasting impact in the minds of its viewers.
Batman and Catwoman in Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One

Hello, and welcome to the Scene 2 Seen Podcast. I am Valerie Complex, an associate editor and film writer at Deadline. Today I’m chatting with Power Book III: Raising Kanan star, Patina Miller. As a major talent across film, television and musical theater Miller portrays Raquel “Raq” Thomas on the Starz original series which is coming up on the end of its third season.
Raising Kanan is the third show in the Power Universe. This one is about a young Kanan Stark (played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s character from the first series) and how he joins his family’s growing and dangerous drug business. It takes place in Queens, New York during the 1990’s.

Tracy Tormé, the vision behind Sliders and an early writer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, has passed away at the age of 64 from complications from diabetes.
Tracy Tormé’s work and contributions within the sci-fi genre made him famous to fans. As per his sister (via The Hollywood Reporter), he “always interested in UFOs — the serious side of UFOs — and in the Air Force pilots who had seen them.” While he only wrote for two seasons on The Next Generation – also serving as story editor – his touch undoubtedly gave the series the thrust it needed to set the tone for the remainder of the series. The greatest success of his career, however, may be Sliders, which he co-created with Robert K. Weiss. What’s Good: Jenna Ortega, Tommy Lee Jones and Ben Foster are always a delight.
What’s Bad: The movie doesn’t know what it wants to be, or what it is, and the entire plot feels pointless.
Loo Break: The first hour and 20 minutes is as disposable as they come, so take your time at the loo.
Watch or Not?: It is best if you avoid this one, there are many better films that are actually good, especially in this end of the year period.
Language: English (with subtitles).
Available On: Paramount+
Runtime: 126 Minutes

Hollywood is overflowing with stories about films that took years of blood, sweat and tears to bring to the screen. Brian Helgeland’s Finestkind represents one of the longest kinds.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter of Mystic River and veteran director of such films as Legend, 42, A Knight’s Tale and Payback finished the script when he was 28. He’s now 62. “The joke is that I wrote it before Toby Wallace and Jenna Ortega were born and Ben Foster was 10 years old. It’s very strange, but everything happens for a reason. I just had to wait for this whole cast to grow up so I could cast them,” he explained at the film’s West Hollywood premiere on Tuesday referring to his actors who star opposite Tommy Lee Jones, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Aaron Stanford, Scotty Tovar, Tim Daly, Lolita Davidovich and Clayne Crawford.
