The Fall Guy (2024)
A good movie, not great, not terrible.
Movie score, if I was asked to watch it again within a week:
10, would watch it again soon.
7, not anytime soon.
4, once was enough.
1, regret my time.
What can I say, this movie was quite a slow to begin with, and near the last half it started picking up and the third act was exactly what you were expecting, a big ol celebration of stunt guys... in fact even after the movie ends there's footage to keep you entertained until the end credit scene.
There were some funny moments in this film, but the best way I can describe how I liked this film is by comparing it to the Jackass films, because although they're different genres and the only real similarity they have is the stunt work is legit and not CGI, they're also a great first time watch.
See, Fall guy is a fun time, easily a 7/10 on normal rating, for a first time watching, it's really enjoyable, Jackass was 7-10/10 due to their funny wacky zany stunts and antics, except much of that comedy is a one shot bang.
Like a mystery murder, once you know who's the culprit, the movie doesn't have the same grip as it did the first time watching it did, likewise Jackass is veey funny and very fun, the first time watching, then much of the humor is lost if you attempt a second viewing.
And finally Fall Guy, it starts off slow, it feels more like a drama mixed with Rom Com, no action, then it later on gets into action and really ramps up the excitement, however once you've seen it, you can say "yes I loved it" but if someone says great, lets watch it again, you say "nope, no thanks, already seen it!".
Perhaps because you don't want to sit through the slow burn section to get to the pay off of action, you now know what the movie's been setting up, you don't need to be taken through the tutorial again, and knowing you'll need to go through that again, maybe it's just not captivating enough.
The first half of the film is a 1-4 and the second half is easily a 7 for me, but overall, it needs to be a 4 out of 10, because while I would watch this again but not anytime soon, I'm talking years not months apart. And for that, I'm very happy watching only once.
Boy Kills World (2023)
A bloody good time
Movie score, if I was asked to watch it again within a week:
10, would watch it again soon.
7, not anytime soon.
4, once was enough.

This was such a blast, from start to finish, not many slow moments, lots of blood and gore, great action sequences, reminds me a bit of the Kill Bill, with less talking, maybe the Raid meets Kill Bill? If you enjoy John Wick for it's action sequences, then you'll be sure to like this film too.
Point is this film is a fun time and something I'd gladly watch again if someone wanted to go watch it again with me, this movie may not get a sequel, much the same as Dredd didn't either, but still, I would definitely recommend it! It's a rollercoaster, and I'm all here for it!!
There is an end credit scene... so who knows, that sequel is always a possibility... I'm happy either way.
Emily the Criminal (2022)
A solid one time
Movie score, if I was asked to watch it again within a week:
10, would watch it again soon.
7, not anytime soon.
4, once was enough.

This movie was by no means a bad film just not a repeatable one, it started off slower than I would've liked and it didn't show much of a progression regarding the main characters struggles and their means of overcoming them.
Still the core message was still told and all the supporting cast were simply a means to an end, they didn't serve to further their own stories, simply the serve the title character instead.
So I guess once you've seen her story arc, there's nothing else to really appreciate about this film, and that's why now that it's done I can say I definitely enjoyed it but I won't be watching it again.
Unlocked: A Jail Experiment (2024)
It was worth the binge
Series score, if I was asked to watch it again within a month:
10, would watch it again.

Tv series: Everything that starts well must end well, and I don't care how good a series starts, if the ending ruins it, whether that's because it was canceled or badly written.
So whether it was canceled or ended badly, if it's an otherwise great series, it gets a 4, and if it sucked regardless of how it stopped, it's a 1.
However even if the show has ended rushed or as intended, it will be judged based on the entirety of all seasons combined, with any of the 4 scores I mark content by.
Review: I really enjoyed this, but I wouldn't watch it again anytime soon, it's easily a 4/10 in regards to the fact I wouldn't watch it alone again, although I'd love a future season where they take it to another pod/wing of the prison.
That said, if someone asked me to watch it with them, I'd watch it again for them, it wasn't so bad that I felt like once was enough regardless of who wanted to watch it with me but preferably I'd want more than a month between watching it again.
It's a good series, nothing amazing, but it kept me reasonably engaged, and the film crew did a good job for the limited space and capacity they had to work with.
No Hard Feelings (2023)
Once was enough

This was a tricky one, because I can picture myself watching this at least twice before giving up on it entirely, and I had a good time, no alcohol required.
That said, it has a few moments that took me out of the immersion, I think the nudity was more my manly horniness being thrilled by the sight than the obvious comedic antic they were intending by the scene.
That is the spoiler, there's nudity, I try not to give away too much of the movie, I like bushes so hers was lovely, possibly was a CGI cover up mind you, still, it doesn't save this movie.
I would recommend watching this at least once, and I might watch it again in the future, but I'm perfectly happy never watching it again.
When I came to making up my mind about whether to give this a 7 or 4, my date had already seen it and she wasn't keen to watch it again with me.
And when I think about the fact that though I enjoyed watching it at home through Prime Video, I wouldn't pay to watch it at the cinema on the big screen.
And that to me, sadly, confirmed it was more of a 4 than a 7, if anything, it's like a 5 not a 5.5, but a 5. Just a little bit short of the midway point, but rounded, it's a 4.
And 4 that reason, I'm happy watching it only once.

Totally watching again

I bought this on blu-ray, and rewatched it several times since I went to the cinema, this was a gem back then as it is now.
It was difficult to top, and though the sequel tried to be bigger and better, sometimes higher stakes doesn't mean a better movie, and while I haven't reviewed the second film yet.
I can say this one is definitely a 10/10, even if we go by regular standards people use the 1-10 rating system for.
That said, based on how I review things, this is an easy watch again. No doubt about it!

Once was enough

To be fair, I always loved this movie when I eas younger, and I had watched it back a couple times at least, I always had such great nostalgia for it that when I found out my mom hadn't seen it, I thought it was a perfect choice for us to watch together.
I was eager to show her just how cool the movie was, but now in my 30s and several years since this was first released, not only can I tell what's CGI and what isn't, I can also see how it must've been a lot of fun as an animator to work on.
Besides the perspective of working on this as a project in my line of work and the cool mechanics and budget you get to work with, I also see the blatent flaws with the movie itself.
By the time the movie finally picks up, it's almost over, and things end pretty swiftly, there's no Akira like meltdown in this film, and while I enjoyed the film for what it was, I didn't enjoy it for what or how I remembered it being.
This is easily a film worth watching once and never again, maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, but I'm in no hurry to watch it ever again, and I actually kinda regret spoiling my memory of it with the reality of what it really was.
Oh well, it is what it is, time and nostalgia sure can play some mind altering tricks, but once again reality has struck and brought me back to how things really are, and this film sadly, isn't what I remember.
Barry (2018)
Would watch again
Movie score, if I was asked to watch it again within a week:
10, would watch it again.
7, not anytime soon.

It's been a while since I've seen this but as satisfied as I was to have finished it, and binge watched it when I did; the conclusion was conclusive that I didn't need more, even though I'm sure a part of me wanted a little more.
It's a show that I both miss and don't, because it finished in such a way that the story didn't need to be fleshed out anymore than it was, but it was told in such a way that you couldn't be blamed for wanting to be pleased with the same type of humor, heart or action that the show delivered.
Nevertheless, though I wouldn't be in any rush to watch it all again by myself, if I had a close friend or family member want to watch it, I would've happily started all over again just to show it off to them, and to see them get as engrossed in it as I was.
And it's for the reason I award it a 10/10, because my rating isn't about a story being perfect, or the execution of making it perfect, but rather am I willing to watch it again if someone I knew wanted to watch it with me, or would I insist they watch it alone or with someone else.
Perhaps it's something I need to give them a warning over that it's a one and done kinda show, for single use only, or rather best avoided. But this for me, was definitely something I'd watch again.

I didn't like this movie nearly as much as everyone else did, and neither did my movie companion. I kinda liked the premise, or the big reveal at the end, although they don't quite show how everything plays out, perhaps for ones own imagination to connect the dots of what you're watching.
That said, it's not a movie I'll be in any rush to watch again, in fact I don't imagine ever watching it again. It's fine and alright to watch once, appreciate it for what it is, and enjoy the ride.
But once it's done, it's done, and there's little bringing you back for more, I can't say I hated it, but I can't say I liked all that much either. It's not a terrible movie, but it's a one time experience for me, so don't expect too much going into this. Just like Oldboy, it's twisted, it's decent, but once you've completed it, the mystery is gone and so too is any will to watch it ever again.
X (2022)
Waste of time
If I was asked to watch it again within a week:
10. I would watch it again.
7, Not anytime soon.
4, Once was enough.
1, Regretted the first.
I went into watching this expecting it to be something beautifully crafted like Pearl, except it followed the same flawed logic many horrors foolishly land themselves in.
With illogical plot armor and unrealistic rationale, this movie falls flat as the same old same old BS tropes we've come to expect.
It had so much potential building off as the continuation of Pearl, and yet failed miserably despite having such a fantastic headstart if you will. Regretfully so.
