A new original anime film Housenka by Baku Kinoshita , who directed the original TV anime series Oddtaxi , was announced on May 23 . Kinoshita will direct and handle character design, with Kazuya Konomoto (who wrote the script for Oddtaxi ) writing the screenplay. Animation creator and game art designer Michinoku-toge will provide the concept art. Anime production company Clap ( Pompo: The Cinéphile ) will work on planning and production. The company's official Twitter posted a visual that depicts the back of a man looking up at fireworks on a porch. Clap also announced that Housenka will participate in the “Work in Progress” program at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024. "Work in Progress" is a program that introduces the production process of works scheduled for future releases. Created by Nobuyuki Fukumoto, the Kaiji manga about a consummate gambler and his misadventures has previously spawned an anime TV series and two live-action films: Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler (2009) and Kaiji 2: Jinsei Dakkai Game (2011).
