Criminal dramas about defenders of justice were once popular only in the procedural format, but the industry developed by leaps and bounds. Over time, we began to receive full-fledged dramas at the level of feature films with the best actors of our time.
One of the most popular projects in this genre was White Collar – an exciting series about a sophisticated, elegant, handsome intellectual, formerly one of the elite of the criminal world, and now an FBI consultant, Neal Caffrey, who, together with Agent Peter Burke, solves the most complex crimes in New York.
However, while White Collar and Suits received its fair share of love from the viewers, another project remained in the shadows completely undeservedly.

Pauly Shore once again addressed his in-development Richard Simmons biopic that has become a hot topic.
“I’m also gonna be starring in the Richard Simmons biopic…whether he likes it or not, Richard,” Shore said at his Netflix Is a Joke show at the Comedy Store Friday night in Los Angeles. “Just another fucking bump in my fucking road.”
Shore’s hour-and-a-half comedy set recounted his life story with a particular focus on growing up in Los Angeles with parents Sammy Shore and Mitzi Shore who co-founded the Comedy Store.
While the bulk of the set detailed his childhood through to the time he spent on MTV and even at the Playboy Mansion, at the very end he jumped to the present to talk about his current life stage and achievements and to briefly address the ongoing biopic situation.

It is often the case, especially in television, that an actor becomes associated with just one big role. A bright image first attracts everyone's attention, occupies the actor's time for several years, and then never lets go – in every subsequent role, the viewers see a continuation of the most famous character. But this also happens to directors.
For example, David Shore, the writer and showrunner of House, whose name graced the credits for all eight years of the show's run, also found himself hostage to resounding success – outside of the audience's favorite hospital, his projects were not particularly popular. Shore drew the conclusion – to bring the people in white coats back, and he made the right decision.

Pauly Shore said he “was up all night crying” due to Richard Simmons continuing to publicly distance himself from a biopic that would star Shore as the fitness guru.
“I just read that a man that I don’t know is writing my bio pic starring Pauly Shore,” Simmons wrote on his verified Facebook page earlier this week. “I do not approve this movie. I am in talks with major studios to create my own bio pic with some help. Wait for this movie.”
Simmons previously said that he was not involved with the biopic and didn’t give Shore “permission” for it, right after it was announced that a feature film about the fitness icon, backed by the Wolper Organization, was in development.
“You guys, I was up all night crying regarding Richard Simmons’ tweet,” Shore wrote on his Instagram Thursday. “Richard, how do you not approve of this movie?...

Like a sweaty workout routine, Pauly Shore‘s Richard Simmons biopic continues to gain momentum. The Wolper Organization says it’s hiring Jordan Allen-Dutton (Robot Chicken) to pen the screenplay. The biopic comes after the success of The Court Jester, a short film starring Shore as the fitness guru and sunny cheerleader for people struggling with weight control and self-esteem issues. The Court Jester sold out multiple screenings in Park City, Utah, earlier this year and gained over one million views on YouTube in 24 hours. While the project has some unfortunate vibes, the team continues to press on with development.
While details about the Richard Simmons biopic remain as scarce as a neon pink leotard up someone’s rear end at the climax of an aerobics routine, producer Mark Wolper says the project will be “a dramatic and heartfelt feature in the tone of Little Miss Sunshine.”

While the title of the film hasn’t yet been disclosed, nor specifics to the approach it’ll take in depicting the life of the famed fitness guru, producer Mark Wolper has shared that it will be “a dramatic and heartfelt feature in the tone of Little Miss Sunshine.” Shore came to the project after campaigning for years to play Simmons in a feature, given popular online opinion that no one resembles the fitness icon more than him. One does not simply watch the first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" without coming away impressed by composer Bear McCreary's luscious and evocative score for the series. Reactions to the Amazon Prime Video show may have ranged from one extreme to the other upon release in late 2022, but hopefully, fans of all stripes could agree that the music of Middle-earth lived up to the sky-high standards set by the original trilogy of movies. While the series remains indebted to the visuals and locations used by director Peter Jackson, there's no doubt that the legendary and award-winning efforts of Howard Shore played just as crucial a role in defining the soundscape of a world inhabited by Hobbits, Dwarves, and all sorts of other fantastical beings. In turn, those contributions certainly influenced the various themes, motifs, and original songs McCreary sprinkled throughout the fantasy show.

This time last year, The Good Doctor was set to continue and was even preparing a spinoff.
However, that all changed earlier this year when ABC decided to end the show after seven seasons.
Even worse?
We’re getting a truncated 10-episode season.
The Good Doctor EP David Shore opened up about the decision to end the series over the weekend during ABC’s portion of the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
While many believed the cancellation came too late in the game to craft a proper conclusion, Shore said the show is lucky enough “to plan the ending we want to do,” according to Deadline.

Shore’s only issue with the series ending this season is that the show was initially expected to have 13 episodes.

Why end The Good Doctor? Was it ABC’s decision? Did the show run its course after seven seasons?
Executive Producer David Shore said it was a little bit of both.
“Years ago when I was doing another show, someone asked, ‘do you know how the show is going to end.’ [He said] Yes, I know exactly how this show will end. One day I will get a call from the network,” said Shore during the drama’s panel at Saturday’s Television Critics Tour. “On that show and this show, we’ve been lucky enough to plan the ending we want to do. A father and daughter submitted a lawsuit this week claiming that Pauly Shore encouraged security members at Los Angeles’ The Comedy Store to attack the father in 2022.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles County’s West District on Thursday, alleges that security members at The Comedy Store “violently grabbed and attacked” plaintiff Sean Kehoe on Nov. 30, 2022, while his daughter, Kirra Lyn Potts, was present. The allegations also state that Kehoe sustained “severe injuries” which resulted in Potts facing “mental and emotional distress” and “extreme mental anguish.”
Kehoe and Potts both allege that Shore “agreed with and encouraged” the attack, and the suit claims that he and The Comedy Store are both responsible for the security officials’ actions as a result of negligence in his “selection of hiring.”
Kehoe and Potts are now seeking monetary compensation for previous and future medical bills, along with a to-be-determined sum for loss of earnings.

A father and daughter have accused movie star and comedian Pauly Shore of assault and battery for allegedly encouraging security members to attack the father, who was visiting the Los Angeles comedy club The Comedy Store in 2022.
The plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are Sean Kehoe and his daughter Kirra Lyn Potts, who say security personnel “violently grabbed and attacked” Kehoe during an incident that took place on Nov. 30, 2022. The legal document also states Kehoe sustained “severe injuries” after the members dragged him. The alleged attacked resulted in Potts undergoing “mental and emotional distress” and “extreme mental anguish” because she witnessed her father being assaulted.

Pauly Shore’s performance as Richard Simmons is seeing the light of day, less than a week after plans for a feature film biopic were announced. A 10-minute short film starring Shore, titled “The Court Jester,” premiered at the Cabin in Park City on Friday. The event wasn’t an official Sundance Film Festival screening, but was certainly positioned to draw in festivalgoers.
“The Court Jester” is now available to watch online through the Lewis Brothers’ YouTube channel. A second screening at the Cabin is set for Jan. 22. The director, Jake Lewis, went viral with his Robin Williams impersonation. It stars Jesse Heiman, best known as a conspicuous extra who has appeared in films like “Spider-Man,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “The Social Network.” Heiman plays a segment producer who partners with Simmons amid backstage drama at a talk show.
“I’m really excited about sharing Richard Simmons’s life with the world.

As far as '90s comedies go, "Encino Man" is up there as one of the seemingly forgotten flicks that die-hard fans are thirsting with nostalgia over. The film helped establish Pauly Shore as a genuine movie star and it certainly doesn't hurt that both Sean Astin ("The Lord of the Rings") and Brendan Fraser ("The Mummy") have gone on to become cherished actors in their own right. It's an of-its-time comedy that remains loved to this day. But could a sequel be on the horizon?
For those who may need a refresher, director Les Mayfield's 1992 film centers on Dave (Astin) who uncovers a caveman frozen in a block of ice while digging a hole for a swimming pool. With the help of his friend Stoney (Shore), Dave moves the caveman (Fraser) to their garage where he thaws out and comes back to life. The duo then attempts to...

Richard Simmons is distancing himself from a biopic that would star Pauly Shore as the fitness guru.
“Hi Everybody! You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read,” read a post on Simmons’ verified Facebook page. “I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support. Richard.”
Shore announced the project Wednesday morning, though he did not claim that Simmons was involved. The Wolper Organization is backing the film. Shore has already shot the short film “Court Jester,” which will debut in Park City, Utah, during Sundance, though it is not a part of the fest.
The filmmakers responded to Simmons’ concerns in a statement of their own Wednesday.

Updated, 2:11 p.m.: Less than 12 hours after news broke that Pauly Shore would portray fitness guru Richard Simmons in a biopic in development at The Wolper Organization, Simmons has surfaced on Facebook to distance himself from the project.
“Hi Everybody! You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read,” Simmons wrote. “I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Shore came to star in the forthcoming feature on Simmons’ life after campaigning for such a project to be made, when memes went viral online noting that if any actor should be cast in a Simmons biopic given physical resemblance alone, it should be him.

Just hours after it was announced that Pauly Shore would play Richard Simmons in an upcoming biopic, the reclusive fitness guru has spoken out against the film.

Pauly Shore is absolutely committed to the idea that he is 1980s fitness icon Richard Simmons — the “Son in Law” star is portraying Simmons in two separate projects.
First, Shore will be seen in “The Court Jester,” a short film directed and written by Jake Lewis that premieres January 19 at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. A teaser trailer with Simmons (Shore) sharing words of wisdom to an overweight production assistant hit YouTube on Wednesday; the full short film will be made available on the same platform following its Sundance premiere.

Pauly Shore is set to take advantage of his uncanny resemblance to Richard Simmons by playing the popular fitness instructor in a new biopic, reports Variety.
Currently in development at Warner Bros. subsidiary The Wolper Organization, the movie is in the process of filling out the additional cast.
In a statement, Shore praised Simmons’ contributions to the fitness world and overall well-being. “I’m really excited about sharing Richard Simmons’ life with the world,” the actor and comedian said. “We all need this biopic now more than ever. Simmons represented mental health, getting people in shape and being his authentic silly self! Whenever he was on TV you could never take your eyes off of him and he brought such a joy to his appearances that represented nothing but a good time.”

Pauly Shore is getting ready to sweat to the oldies, as the actor and comedian will play fitness icon Richard Simmons in a new biopic.
The film is currently in development at Warner Bros. subsidiary The Wolper Organization, with additional casting underway.
Responding to the news, the reclusive Simmons disavowed the project, posting on social media that he has never “given my permission for this movie.”
The biopic follows an unrelated short film about Simmons from director and writer Jake Lewis. That film, titled “The Court Jester,” will premiere at Sundance on Jan. 19 and also stars Shore as Simmons, as well as Tamra Brown as Ellen DeGeneres and Jesse Heiman as David, a television producer who lost 160 pounds thanks to Simmons, and who tracked his weight-loss journey on the blog “Keep It Up David!” After premiering in Park City, “The Court Jester” will immediately be available worldwide on YouTube.

Reality TV star Nicole Snooki Polizzi formed a quick and tight bond with her Jersey Shore family. But Mike Sorrentino once accidentally caused a rift between himself and his co-star that he might’ve thought was irreparable.

Sorrentino famously had severe substance abuse problems that interfered in both his professional and personal life. The actor reflected how he always had drugs on him in his younger years, spending $500,000 on his self-destructive habit.
“When you think of that number, when you hear that number, that’s a good college fund right there,” he once told Entertainment Weekly. “I gotta just be accountable and be like, ‘Yeah, that happened.’ I was wild. I was careless. I was reckless, and I fell prey to drug addiction, and in...

Sure, 28 Oscar nominations and 17 wins aren’t to be sniffed at. But the remarkable thing about Peter Jackson‘s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy is that it should have been nominated for more. Only one of the cast was nominated for an Oscar across all three films — that was for Best Supporting Actor for Sir Ian McKellen in 2002 for “The Fellowship of the Ring” — while there were a few other curious snubs that, in hindsight, just don’t make sense. So, there was actually more room to nominate this rightly-heralded trilogy of astounding films. With that in mind, here are five more Oscar nominations “The Lord of the Rings” should have landed.
Best Original Score: “The Two Towers”
The music of “The Lord of the Rings” has gone down as one of the best scores ever committed to film. Howard Shore‘s adored score is so top drawer it leaves you clamoring for more.

Drew Barrymore may have just gotten engaged to comedian Pauly Shore! While the whole ordeal played out on “The Drew Barrymore Show” Friday, Barrymore told Shore, a longtime friend, that he’s “going to have to stay tuned to find out my answer” before shouting: “I love you so much!”
The conversation began after Barrymore gushed over Shore’s kindness and character toward the end of the episode, calling him “an amazing force of light,” which led to Shore reflecting on why he hasn’t been able to make relationships last. He also admitted that his mother was upset when Barrymore married Tom Green in 2001 and thought that she should marry Shore instead.
That’s when, standing above her on the sound studio stage, he pulled out a whopper of a diamond ring and proposed to her on one knee.
“That’s how Mitzy felt?” Barrymore asked, shocked.

Plot: Stories playing out in modern day and on Halloween night 1938 show how the haunting of the Queen Mary ocean liner has a devastating effect on two different families.
Review: The Rms Queen Mary is a ship with a fascinating history. It was built in the 1930s to provide weekly express service between England and the United States – and for more than a decade it held the Blue Riband for being the fastest passenger liner on the sea. When the war ended, it went back to carrying civilian passengers until it was retired in 1967 and docked in Long Beach, California. For more than fifty years, it has sat in Long Beach, a tourist attraction. As you would expect from something with such an incredible history, the ship is believed to be haunted. I honestly never expected Steven Spielberg in a Criterion Channel series––certainly not one that pairs him with Kogonada, anime, and Johnny Mnemonic––but so’s the power of artificial intelligence. Perhaps his greatest film (at this point I don’t need to tell you the title) plays with After Yang, Ghost in the Shell, and pre-Matrix Keanu in July’s aptly titled “AI” boasting also Spike Jonze’s Her, Carpenter’s Dark Star, and Computer Chess. Much more analog is a British Noir collection obviously carrying the likes of Odd Man Out, Night and the City, and The Small Back Room, further filled by Joseph Losey’s Time Without Pity and Basil Dearden’s It Always Rains on Sunday. (No two ways about it: these movies have great titles.) An Elvis retrospective brings six features, and the consensus best (Don Siegel’s Flaming Star) comes September 1.

The Saturday Night Live theme is similar to a John Lennon song. The song’s music video is like the opening of the show. The track in question was a collaboration with Elton John. Yoko Ono and John Lennon | R. Brigden / Stringer
The Saturday Night Live theme sounds like one of John Lennon’s songs. The song came out a year before SNL premiered. Notably, John’s song was a big hit in the United States but barely made a mark in the United Kingdom.
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ theme is as jazzy as 1 John Lennon song
“Whatever Gets You Thru the Night” was one of John’s most popular solo songs. It sticks out from most of John’s solo hits because it takes so much influence from jazz music. The opening riff of the track sounds like the jazzy riff from the SNL opening theme.

When 2014’s Dracula Untold was announced, it was kind of a big deal considering it would be the first major Dracula movie to hit the big screen since Dracula 2000. Sadly, the Vlad the Impaler origin story was met with mixed reviews and sort of came and went upon its theatrical release. But with the movie recently being added to Netflix and immediately shooting to number 4 on streaming service’s top 10 movies list, now is a good time to revisit not just the film but how its characters—particularly Charles Dance’s Master Vampire—were meant to be the original launching pad for the perpetually stalled Universal Monsters shared cinematic universe (later renamed “the Dark Universe”).
Originally, Dracula Untold was at first titled Dracula: Year Zero and had Sam Worthington (Avatar) set to star with Alex Proyas attached to direct. That iteration was then scrapped and reworked, with the project...

Branford Marsalis, Thomas Newman, Howard Shore, and Kris Bowers — what do they have in common, besides each being an accomplished composer, conductor, and/or recording artist in his own right? Within the past four years, they all produced a film score that didn’t even register as a blip on the Oscar radar. “Let Them All Talk” and “Pieces of a Woman” gained zero traction for 15-time Oscar nominee Newman and three-time “The Lord of the Rings” Oscar winner Shore. Bowers and Marsalis had respectively picked up momentum elsewhere on the awards circuit for “Green Book” (the eventual Best Picture winner) and “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” (the eventual Best Makeup and Hairstyling winner), yet those two films’ Oscar fortunes couldn’t do anything to boost their chances in Best Original Score.

Brendan Fraser fought armies of the undead in “The Mummy.” He swung from vines in “George of the Jungle.” He traveled around the world with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in “Looney Toons: Back in Action.” He made a pact with Elizabeth Hurley as the Devil in “Bedazzled.” He partied with Pauly Shore as a reanimated Neanderthal in “Encino Man.” He even took a shower with Matt Damon in “School Ties.” And while those movies brought him fame, fortune and respect in Hollywood, rocketing Fraser to the top of the A-list in the 1990s and early aughts, they didn’t usually scream “Oscar-worthy.” He was always invited to the party, of course, but as a presenter, not a nominee.
“I give really good podium,” Fraser says. “I’m great at handing out awards. It’s easy. The pressure is off. You’re up on the stage, staring out at all...
