A bunch of social dynamics

This movie, about the dynamics of a Swedish commune that begin to change upon the arrival of a beaten wife and her two kids, is a good romance movie!

It was surprisingly engaging. I expected that we were only going to follow the first characters that appeared in the movie; Elisabeth and Rolf and their kids, and Göran and Eva, but we got in the middle of a whole bunch of relationships. There was a lot of characters to follow in all ages with different personalities, ideals and sexual orientations. The actors were convincing, and they got my attention from the beginning. My favorite scene was probably when Göran decided to break up with Eva. That was hilarious!

The movie tried to portray the time from 1975 with clothes, house, cars and props, and conversations about politics and ideals, but also by using techniques with a handheld camera. It mostly worked, but I admit that I really disliked the zooming. It was very disturbing even though I imagined it was done on purpose to recreate the style from the 70s. I also think the editing was weird. The scenes got cut way too early after each scene, which kind of rushed the pacing. However, I think the drama among the characters overshadowed the disturbing technical techniques because I was mostly hooked from start to finish.

This is a surprisingly engaging and humorous movie that portrays the dynamics of a Swedish commune in the 1970s. It features a large cast of characters with different personalities, ideals, and sexual orientations, and the actors deliver convincing performances. While the handheld camera and editing techniques were jarring, the drama among the characters ultimately overshadowed these technical flaws. Overall, this is a well-made and enjoyable movie.
