Ok i get it, they wanted to transpose PD to an American setting, i also get it that as far as Victorian Gothic the choice was pretty limited.

Edgar Allen Poe, HP Lovecraft, Nathaniel Hawthorne,Fitz James O'Brien, to name a few. Like the British counterpart they don't all share the exact same timeline, but there is room there for a story.

This is a detective show, with the name Penny Dreadful attached to try and grab an audience, in that it has failed miserably.

Scorpion (2014–2018)

Awful but also somehow endearing

The writing is the problem here. Acting is OK in most parts, some better than others.

If you want to use smart people to solve problems then give them smart problems. To many times the come up with ways to do something which are to complex and slow for no reason what so ever.

I've sat there too many times thinking, why the hell did they do that when they could have done this and it would have been quicker and safer.

Yes of course you have to suspend belief when watching these sorts of programs but only so far.

If you have nothing better to watch then give it ago, its a light hearted no brainer.

The Americans (2013–2018)

Great first 4 seasons but it seems to be getting slower and slower.

I have to say i enjoyed the first 4 season but i think it is loosing its way somewhat. For me the worst thread in the story is the daughter, its either the actress or the script, she is just to whiny now, probably why Gabriel parted saying that she should never be allowed to join them. Im hoping she can go to Uni far far away and be written out.

The pacing was fine in season 1 to 4 but it seems to have slowed down allot and some times is almost plodding alone. There have been some good individual episodes in season 5 but i want them to get back to the hunt for secrets and spies and not plod on with this whole family thing.
