Justified (2010)
Binged watched Justified - My thoughts
I had no plans to watch this show because crime dramas aren't my cup of tea, but I went for it because of two reasons. I read comments from devoted fans of the original series. One particular fan stated he watched the entire original show multiple times. Secondly, Timothy Olyphant as Marshal Deafy in Fargo was too good. I was hoping his Raylan Givens character was just as entertaining. In all honesty, I wasn't a fan of Justified from the beginning, but as the show progressed, I was absolutely hooked. This show got better the further it went, which is not common since even the best shows have weak seasons. As of right now, the new City Primeval isn't scoring as well. I hate to judge any show before it has time to develop, but a possible reason for this is simply because the chemistry between Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder will be difficult to match along with the genius performance of Walton Goggins as Boyd Crowder. There are so many memorable quotes from this show, particularly when Raylan would confront dirty cops. Raylan's mouth is as quick as his draw. Justified gets a 9/10.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (2017)
Binged watched Boruto - My thoughts
Although Boruto is one of the worst anime shows I have ever seen I think it still has potential. No question the company is riding the coattails of the original successful Naruto series, that much is obvious, but the storyline isn't bad. I can see that some thought process went into it. Every relevant entertaining episode involves Naruto. Boruto on his own cannot carry this series as his story is far less compelling than his father's. The animation quality is beyond unacceptable for such a large animation studio. During my childhood there were three anime shows that made a huge impact on my life, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Naruto. My first memories of discovering the YouTube website were a result of searching for the music that was featured in the show's opening. I can even remember myself watching videos of Naruto hand signs so I could learn them. A huge part of my childhood involves Naruto, so I decided to binge-watch this series because I still have hope for its future. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations gets a 1/10.
Sword Art Online (2012)
Binged watched Sword art online (up to Season 4)- My thoughts
The Sword art online (SAO) anime can essentially be broken up into four sections: NerveGear, AmuSphere, Augma, and Rath. The show begins in the year 2022, and the events involving SAO creator Akihiko Kayaba and the laughing coffin serve as the foundation for the main storyline. The plot twist here is that end-users could not log out and if they died in the virtual world, they would also die in the real world. The NerveGear equipment made this possible because it utilized a deep dive function which can overstimulate brain function killing the end user. This is hands down the most entertaining aspect of SAO and unfortunately, it all goes downhill from here. AmuSphere follows the now-banned NerveGear, which includes safety features that automatically log users out if they're in distress by monitoring vital signs. Along with AmuSphere, a cascade of new virtual worlds become accessible due to "the seed" or the virtual world blueprint Kirito released to the public (good idea, maybe not). Next, Augma and it's like Google Glass which is just an overlay as opposed to a deep dive into virtual reality (VR). The Augma introduces us to Project Rath with its main objective to close the gap between the real world and the virtual world by enhancing artificial intelligence (AI). If AI performs actions that go against the system, then it's developing what is termed a "soul". The later seasons lack detail and explanation, such as converted accounts having greater access to the system than those with administrator privileges and the ability to control the end-user with no explanation besides a black ghost-like figure. One of my favorite characters, Asuna, goes from a hero to a damsel in distress, constantly crying out for Kirito to save her. At this point, it's plainly obvious the series is getting dragged out and leads to where all stories end up when they run too long, which is outer space ... no, seriously, that happens. On a side note, out of all the technology the show has featured, the most impressive is the AI metallic body Alice occupied due to its life-like features and movement, and it only comes months after the clunky robot Akihiko Kayaba occupied. I'll also like to add that throughout the show series creator Reki Kawahara explores many creepy concepts that were unnecessary to the main story, such as forced sexual acts, VR sexual encounters involving children, autonomous sexual relationships, and even incest. I'll continue to watch, but not because I want to but because I'm in too deep, and this plane is going down for a crash landing. Sword Art Online gets a 6/10.
Unhinged (2020)
Movie Night: Unhinged - My thoughts
Unhinged feels like an hour and thirty-minute-long public service announcement (PSA) video about road rage. Movies such as Taken with Liam Neeson or Kidnap starring Halle Berry have always resonated with me much more than traditional horror thriller films because they deal with real-life scenarios that can happen to you. Films just like this one always leaves you on the edge of your seat but also have you wondering where the hell are the police!!!? Unhinged, Taken, and Kidnap share key elements such as poor decision-making, convenient deserted streets and neighborhoods, and the absence of police. Instead of becoming frustrated, I take a step back and remind myself it's only a movie that is drawing emotions out of me, which is a good thing. As expected, Russell Crowe does a great job as the "Unhinged" driver. Our protagonist, Rachel is beyond helpless and annoying with each decision she makes every situation worse. I didn't know what to expect from this film, but Unhinged was enjoyable to watch and gets an 8/10.
Sanyanggaedeul (2023)
Binged watched Bloodhound - My thoughts
The lack of martial arts shows and films lately has been unbelievable. Bloodhounds have filled the void by delivering a kick-butt action-packed show. I watched the English voiceover version which is very lazy of me not wanting to read subtitles, but it wasn't bad. The choreography here is amazing and our main heroes, Woo Do-Hwan and Sang-Yi Lee deliver an incredible performance. This show is rated TV-MA, and you can see why from its graphic fighting scenes, which totally surprised me. The fighting scenes include plenty of weapons except guns. Although punches and kicks make for a great fighting scene, there's an inexplicable absence of firearms. The bad guys carried objects such as bats, and no matter how many times they came out on the losing end, not a single gun was used by them, which didn't make sense because they are committing plenty of murders, they're just doing it the hard way. Do-Hwan, and Sang-Yi Lee share great on-screen chemistry, and the villain played by Kim Myung-gill, does a phenomenal job. He can be a very intimidating man, and can make any scene very uncomfortable. Certainly, someone you never want to cross. Bloodhounds gets an 8/10.
Succession (2018)
Binged watched Succession - My thoughts
Great show, and if you're a fan of Arrested Development you'll probably like Succession. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Kendall, he just wants his opportunity to prove himself but when he doesn't get his way he spirals out of control. I was a fan of Shiv at first but by the end, I think she mirrors her father's brute force more than any other siblings. Roman was intelligent, but as the middle child, he was never fully sure of himself with terrible coping skills and often regressed. Roman and Shiv in my opinion, shared the strongest bond as he often followed in her footsteps. I personally would have liked to see more of Connor, as the oldest child he cared for his sibling and has seen them all grow up to be the miserable adults they are today. Fan favorites, Tom and Greg shared great on-screen chemistry, and I found myself rooting for their success toward the end. I didn't have a problem with the ending, but the final season was far less entertaining than previous ones. Many of the episodes surrounding the election seem to have people yelling profanities at monitors and lots of back and forth about whether to call a state red or blue. I was also not a fan of Lukas. I never fully understood his character and much of the season was taken over by him. If this is the end, I'll be okay with that. I'm satisfied. 9/10.
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Under the sea of outrage
I do not care for all the outrage, it's just a movie that kids will watch while on their phones and occasionally look up at the screen while the adults argue about the casting decisions. I'm a huge fan of the original and I'll say this movie was one of Disney's better live-action films. It wasn't bad and all your favorite songs are there including some new ones. The live-action stays true to its counterpart, mirroring the original scene by scene. The acting was okay but what more do you want from a children's film. Melissa McCarthy as Ursula stole the show, she was fantastic. It's just a movie people, it will come and go and soon be forgotten.
Sarah Silverman: Someone You Love (2023)
Long overdue
Sarah Silverman is definitely one of my top 5 female comedians of all time, and yes that means she's my fifth favorite female comedian. It's good to finally see her back on stage and long overdue because Louis ck, who has been exiled, should not have more stand-up specials than you filming from his underground hideout of shame. Sarah has a unique style of comedy, she doesn't try to be anyone else but herself. Her stand-up is a raw unfiltered rollercoaster of random thoughts and topics from someone having a manic episode. If you enjoy her style of humor, you'll like this, if not odds are you won't, but in any case it's something to watch to make the time go by.
Irréversible (2002)
spinning + long scenes = Irreversible
Wow, so where do i start. Let me start by saying that this is the first and i hope only time IMDb fails me. Every single review has been on point with my on opinion about a film if it has a 5 its an o.k movie if its a 7 or higher i found it very enjoyable ... until this point. I can not disagree more with the overall score on this film. Just because it has a strong message DOESN'T MAKE IT A GOOD FILM ! almost like taking a black and white picture don't make you an artiest. After what felt like 15 minutes forwarding through the opening credits ans camera spinning( not giving to much away ) their was a man getting his face bashed-in which is the sole reason for the 3 star rating , not because of the gore but because it was real time hitting blows with amazing effects. Pass this point the movie gets bad and I MEAN REAL BAD. Scenes in this film get dragged on for WAAAAYYY to long 7 minutes of not saying anything relevant to the movie too several minutes of a person just brushing hair AND the WORST PART several minutes of flashing lights. After nearly catching a seizures the movie finally ended. Well now i know why they called it irreversible , because i can never un-see what has been seen.
The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It (2010)
What did i think about this movie
Hmmmm what do i think about this movie, where do i start. I just finish seeing this movie minutes ago and well.. at lest i didn't fall asleep. Don't get me wrong the movie had really funny parts. One of my favorite scenes was Seth giving Andy the milkshake speech and that small video playing in the credits was also really funny. By the way some of the parodies in this movie was really spot on for example Stephen really did sound like Seth and Steven Sims my goodness i had to remind myself that he wasn't really Jonah hill. Bryan Callen really made this movie work and kind of saved it in my opinion. The few times this movie made me really laugh was because of Bryan, his reactions his acting was really good. I actually started to feel sorry for him. Now for the bad news, this movie was mostly cheap jokes. If it wasn't a sex joke it was a racist one, after awhile you can clearly see them coming and because of that it was less funny or not funny at all. I also saw some slam dog milliner and a out of no where star wars parody ...really there was no need for those, should have just stayed with the movies in the title. Hope i wasn't to mean, over all its a "fun" movie to watch and i give it a 5.5/10
Observe and Report (2009)
wow now this is a dark comedy movie
Wow now that was a movie, finally! Everything we are use to watching in movies like the man gets his 1st love in the end and everyone is happy does not happen here. This movie breaks all the rules and boundaries. In every scene you will be shocked and surprise for whats to come. When you think you know whats about to happen YOU DON'T ! This movie is much more then just funny. It's what I,ve been waiting for. In conclusion, I was very happy with this movie and found it to be very funny. It's a very dark comedy also, every scene would come to a surprise to you. (Do not read this part it's only full in Do not read this part it's only full in)
Dragonball Evolution (2009)
This movie sucked Dragon Balls
Awful ,but i'm giving it a 2 because it was not as bad as street fighter the legend of chun li. There is no doubt about it, this movie sucked but it is so bad it's good. If you want to enjoy the movie do not think of it as a DBZ movie make believe this movie has nothing to do with Dragon B all Z and only then would you enjoy it.Watching this movie with high expectations is the worst thing to can do. The only thing this movie has in common with DBZ is the names they use in the movie so, don't expected anything you were use to seeing in the cartoon show. In conclusion, the movie was not that bad when you don't think of it as a DBZ movie but more of a normal action movie.
Sin City (2005)
Interesting movie
This movie reminds me of Lucky Number Slevin especially with Josh Hartnett and Bruce Willis in the movie. I really did not understand Josh Hartnett role in the movie as The Man. He killed the women in the start of the movie for her check ,and the girl in the end for ( I am only guessing ) the money she got for giving the cops tips ,so i believe he's just another criminal ,and his role is to represent crime in Sin City. In conclusion, this movie is very interesting in a very good way. It's absolutely worth your time. I regret not watching this movie earlier. This movie came out in 2005 and i just watched it today for the first time.
The Pest (1997)
A classic
my favorite parts of The Pest is the opening and ending credits of the movie. The movie its self is OK (it has its moments)but the story line gets very silly, and the whole movie the main character keeps on reminding you that he's called the pest for a reason, for he keeps on bugging everyone every second he's on screen so you could find your self getting bored sometimes. The main character (Pest) picks up multiple impressions with different cultural background to bug people with. My favorite impression with out a doubt has to be his Asian impressions. In conclusion, i love this movie because it's a classic ,and i would never get tired of watching the opening scene of The Pest.
