The future is not looking bright for Raven’s Home, which has officially been cancelled by Disney Channel after six seasons, TVLine has confirmed.
A continuation of That’s So Raven, which aired on Disney Channel from 2003 to 2007, Raven’s Home reunited viewers with the sitcom’s titular psychic (played by Raven-Symoné), who was now the mother of twins — including a son Booker (Issac Ryan Brown), who has clairvoyant powers of his own. Set in Chicago for its first four seasons, Raven’s Home ultimately relocated back to San Francisco (aka the original setting of That’s So Raven) for the remainder of its run.

Exclusive: Raven-Symoné is extending her relationship with Disney, which she has called home for many years, with a new multi-year overall deal at Disney Branded Television. Under the pact, she will produce, direct, and develop projects across linear and streaming, with a focus on multi-cam comedies.
First off, she will executive produce and direct sitcom Alice in the Palace, which has received a pilot order. It is an Alice-centered spinoff from Raven-Symoné’s Disney Channel multi-camera comedy series Raven’s Home, which will not return for a seventh season. Its most recent Season 6 concluded its run in September 2023.
The deal with Raven-Symoné, which also includes continued acting and hosting opportunities, and the order for Alice in the Palace fits into Disney Branded Television’s strategy of building a new Disney Channel lineup of multi-camera sitcoms. In doing that, the company’s executive team has been leaning into classic Disney Channel IP.

Although there are fewer teen dramas airing these days, there’s still quite a few solid shows to choose from in the YA realm. Unfortunately, the same can’t really be said for the preteen genre — there’s a couple of notable gems like Raven’s Home, but such shows are few and far between. With Netflix canceling The Baby-Sitters Club after just two seasons and former Disney Channel staples like Girl Meets World and Andi Mack being long over, the future of tween TV remains murky at best.

The teaser includes a shot of Ariel and her friends taking part in Ursula’s “magic camp,” where she will presumably school them in witchcraft. TV’s IP fetish is no coincidence. Recognizable titles and stars can guarantee strong initial tune-in off of modest marketing. But long-term results are lackluster. Just look at the past decade’s worth of revivals. Different from reboots or remakes, risky ventures in their own right, a revival features original castmembers of long-departed series revisiting characters for whom there’s an assumed appetite. Viewers aren’t often as hungry as studio brass would like. The average life span of recent revivals is three seasons, while their originals averaged eight-year runs. So as Paramount+ kicks off October by nixing one revived comedy (iCarly, starring Miranda Cosgrove, above) and attempting to mount another (Frasier with Kelsey Grammer, which premiered Oct. 12), The Hollywood Reporter examines 10 case studies from this revivals wave and where they went right … or horribly wrong.

Hot dog! A signature Playhouse Disney/Disney Junior animated series whose catchy opening and closing songs are likely engraved into the brain of every parent with children born in the 2000s, is coming back. Disney Junior has greenlighted Mickey Mouse Clubhouse 2.0 (working title), a new incarnation of its former flagship series, to premiere in 2025. The announcement was made by Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, during the “Disney Junior & Friends Playdate” event at the Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim.

Saturday Late Night Update: This weekend should really be a come-to-Jesus for both AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA to get their acts together and come to terms. That’s because it’s truly a rich one at the box office, with studio estimates pegging $217.4M for all films, a record for the last weekend of July. It’s also +122% from a year ago, and +34% from pre-pandemic 2019, which was led by the second frame of The Lion King.
Overall, this weekend is off 30% from last weekend’s massive $311.2M.
And this is a holdover weekend at the box office, not some mega opening one led by a Marvel movie. Granted, the stone in many actors and actresses’ shoes are streamers with residuals. However, Ott services will be stiffed too at film festivals by the low wattage of their awards season fare if they don’t come to peace Asap with SAG-AFTRA.

Raven-Symoné‘s visions go way beyond her famous Disney Channel character!
On the latest episode of iHeartMedia’s The Best Podcast Ever With Raven and Miranda, the married duo was joined by Keke Palmer. During a fun game of Spin the Wheel, the word was psychic. After Keke offered her feelings about the term, saying that she believes in people’s abilities to see or feel forces of the future, Raven shared an experience with the world.
“I believe in psychics, puns f**king intended,” Raven, who starred as the titular character on Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven, and currently stars on Raven’s Home, revealed.
“I truly believe. I believe actually humans have the ability in their brain to tap into energy fields that allow for truth to connect when you know how to translate it correctly. I can walk into a room and it’s reading...

With its list of new releases for July 2023, Disney+ is deciding to chill a bit. And honestly, in the surprisingly competitive summer entertainment landscape, that’s appreciated by your local entertainment writers.
The only two line items of note this month is the premiere of one show and the finale of another. The premiere is that of Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire on July 5. This animated sci-fi anthology features 10 short films from African creators. Per Disney+, Kizazi Moto draws “on uniquely African perspectives to imagine brave new worlds of advanced technology, aliens, spirits, and monsters. This is Africa as you’ve never seen it before.”
Later on in the month, July 26 sees the sixth and final episode of Marvel’s Secret Invasion. Hopefully this saga about a plotted Skrull takeover of earth has a satisfying conclusion because it won’t be until Loki season 2 on Oct. 6 that we get another Marvel Cinematic Universe offering.
