After being cast as Rick Flag Sr. in DC Studios' animated Creature Commandos, we recently learned that Frank Grillo will make the leap to live-action when he reprises the role in Peacemaker season 2.
The actor turned 59 earlier this month, but make no mistake about it, he'll be more than a match for John Cena's Christopher Smith.
As you'll see in the screenshot below, Grillo is "getting dialled in" for his Dcu role with a training regime that's made him look an absolute beast. He's no stranger to action roles, of course, and we'd imagine he'll see plenty of that when Flag Sr. comes gunning for revenge following his son's murder at Peacemaker's hands.
"Pleased to announce the great [Frank Grillo] will be reprising the role of Rick Flag, Sr - the role he’ll first play in animated form in 'Creature Commando's - throughout Season 2 of 'Peacemaker,'" DC Studios...

Live from New York, it’s another addition to the cast of Peacemaker Season 2! James Gunn is hard at work managing the rebirth of the Dcu. Still, he’s taking time out of his busy schedule to announce that Saturday Night Live alum Tim Meadows is joining the cast of Peacemaker. Gunn posted about Meadows joining Peacemaker on Instagram. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine guest star is all smiles in the photo while wearing a tye-dye Nike hoodie. Meadows looks thrilled to join the series, and we’re excited to have someone as funny as Meadows joining the cast.
Meadows plays the A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury for Peacemaker Season 2, joining the helmeted hero’s cohorts in the fight against evil. In addition to Meadows joining the cast, Deadline says Superbad filmmaker Greg Mottola is directing a few episodes of the new season. Gunn is smack dab in the middle of production on Superman,...

When it comes to DC’s Animated Universe, there are barely any shows and movies that don’t receive praise with My Adventures with Superman being no exception to this either. Every iteration of the scarlet caped hero has been driven by some criticism alongside acknowledgement. Whether it is with Henry Cavill, Tyler Hoechlin, or Tom Welling; each and every one of them have their fair share of pros and cons.

With the second season also in swing, there are many ways in which the show excels in representing the story of not just Superman and Lois but also Clark Kent and Lois. As of late, another character has joined the party and she holds an uncanny resemblance to a Dragon Ball character one cannot turn a blind eye to.

There are plenty of actors out there who have either auditioned to be Superman or were picked for a film that never got made. Hell, we just talked about one such situation earlier today with Matt Bomer. But before Bomer was up for the role, there was a version of a “Superman” film directed by Brett Ratner. And at the time, the studio really wanted Jude Law to put on the cape.

A lot of the time, fans are really skeptical of actors after they’re cast for a superhero role in a film. The biggest question is– Do they look the part. And in the case of Matt Bomer, he definitely looks the part for Superman. But according to the actor, even though he made it really far into an audition to play Superman years ago and was seemingly the top choice for the role, something ridiculous prevented him from landing the role.

In 2022, rising out against the pandemic and towards a box office resurrection, The Batman from Matt Reeves starring Robert Pattinson also went down as one of the most fan-favorite outings of the character. Featuring a young version of the Caped Crusader, who had just begun his work in ridding the streets of Gotham, crime-free, the movie amassed acclaim for a number of creative decisions that had never made their way to the big screens before, making fans clamor and demand for more.

As filming continues on James Gunn's Dcu Superman (FKA Superman: Legacy) reboot in Cleveland, Ohio, the city streets are in the process of being transformed into Metropolis, and a brief video from the set has now been shared online.
The footage gives us a quick glimpse of several store-fronts, one of which is displaying the Daily Planet logo.
As you can see, the lettering is very similar to early comic book versions, but it's missing the iconic newspaper's signature globe. This isn't the actual Daily Planet building, however, so there's always a chance the classic logo will still sit atop the skyscraper.
The movie was recently shooting in Lagrange, Georgia, which was doubling for the Kent Farm and surrounding area. Though the shot doesn't reveal anything aside from a stunning woodland skyline, Gunn has taken to Instagram to share a new photo from the set.

Matt Bomer is speaking out against what he sees as the “weaponization” of sexuality in Hollywood.
Bomer revealed during The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast that he allegedly lost out on landing the lead role for axed DC film “Superman: Flyby” after being outed as gay.
“It looked like I was the director’s choice for the role,” Bomer said. “I signed a three-picture deal at Warner Bros.”
When asked on the podcast whether his sexual orientation affected his casting, Bomer said, “Yeah, that’s my understanding. That was a time in the industry when something like that could still really be weaponized against you. How, and why, and who [outed me], I don’t know.”
Bomer even exited CBS soap opera “Guiding Light” amid the audition process for “Superman: Flyby.”

In 2016, Zack Snyder launched Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The outing marked DC Studios’ next big take on the character following the immense acclaim received just years earlier with the Christian Bale version helmed by Christopher Nolan. However, unlike its predecessor, the ambitious, dark, gritty, and unhinged Dceu version failed to strike a chord at the box office, with a canonical wipeout coming in with 2023’s The Flash.

‘Superman,’ set for a 2025 release, marks the initial live-action project slated for Dcu release, pivotal to Gunn’s new cinematic universe’s success.
Gunn has encountered various criticisms, from a predominantly white cast to a seemingly low-budget production featuring actors and settings more suited for a TV series than a major film.
Despite facing opposition from some fans, Gunn has now provided a reason for them to anticipate the upcoming movie.
Recently, a fan reached out to James Gunn on social media, seeking clarification on whether Jonathan Kent (portrayed by Pruitt Taylor Vince) would be alive or deceased in the film. Gunn responded to the query with a touch of humor, yet he offered a clear and direct answer:
Well, I don’t think I’d hire Pruitt to play a dead person for an entire film.
Fans were instantly thrilled by the response.
They are finally going to overcome this stupid death

‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 is the first live-action project planned for a Dcu release and the project upon which the destiny of Gunn’s new cinematic universe depends.
So far, Gunn has faced numerous criticisms ranging from a “white-washed” cast to a seemingly “cheap” production with a cast & locations that would be a better fit for a CW-level production than a blockbuster in the making.
Some fans are fighting Gunn every step of the way but it seems that he has finally given them a reason to look forward to the upcoming movie.

At a time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe had just aired The Avengers on the big screen and laid claim as the best interconnected comic universe to date, DC Studios came up with its own iteration just a year later. In 2013, Zack Snyder kick-started the DC Extended Universe with his Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill as the titular lead. However, instead of competing head-to-head with the Iron Man producing studio, it went down with sweeping division.

As work continues on DC Studios' Superman reboot, filmmaker James Gunn has shared another behind-the-scenes photo featuring the movie's cast...and a couple of friends.

Gunn insists that his old pal only stopped by for a visit, though it was rumoured a while back that he's been cast as Lois Lane's father, General Sam Lane. While we don't necessarily expect Rooker to appear in Superman, it's not outside the realm of possibility despite Gunn's claims to the contrary.

Cameras are still rolling on James Gunn's Superman reboot and even though the filmmaker has said he'll miss Comic-Con, we're hoping something from the movie will be shared in Hall H.

Much has been made of the upcoming Superman project which will star David Corenswet as the titular character. The first movie under the new Dcu banner is being headed entirely by the chief James Gunn, who is both the director and the screenwriter for this project.

We got a first look at the new LexCorp logo earlier today, and as filming continues on James Gunn's Dcu Superman reboot in Cleveland, Ohio, these videos from the Headlands Beach State Park set give us a glimpse of some stunt rehearsals.
The footage was shot from quite a distance away, but we can make out several figures practising combat moves in the sand.
Are these stunt performers or some of the actors from the movie? It's very difficult to tell, but there's been speculation that the guy in the black shirt moving into shot from the left might be David Corenswet (he certainly has the right build).
At the very least, this confirms that we're going to see some super-powered individuals engage in a hand-to-hand scrap.
Check out the videos at the links below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Aside from a few blurry shots of Gabriela de Faría's Engineer, we've yet to see any noteworthy photos from the set of Superman. On the few occasions the movie has been shot in the open, the set has been surrounded by barricades to hide what's happening from fans and photographers.
In many ways, we can't complain about that because it maintains the element of surprise. Still, it's frustrating to not get any sneak peeks as those more often than not build excitement for movies like this one.
Regardless, some new snaps have surfaced today and while there are no cast members on hand, we do get to see the updated LuthorCorp logo. This looks like a makeshift military base, though it's unclear whether Lex Luthor has anything to do with what's happening here.

But recently, while clarifying fans’ concerns about the upcoming animated show, which will set things in motion for the Dcu, Gunn seems to have confirmed the recasting of Wonder Woman.

James Gunn’s Dcu is moving quickly. The production of ‘Superman’ is already halfway done, and casting for other projects is about to start. Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about two Dcu projects: ‘Lanterns’ and ‘Booster Gold.’
Both shows have been in development for a long time. They were originally planned for different cinematic universes, but now under Gunn’s leadership, they are beginning to take shape.
Recently, Chris Pratt confirmed he will be appearing in both the MCU and the Dcu, which didn’t surprise anyone. The last ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie hinted that Star-Lord would return, and since Gunn likes to work with the same actors, it was expected that Pratt would find a role in the Dcu.
After his statement went viral, fans speculated that Pratt might be cast as either Booster Gold or Hal Jordan for the upcoming ‘Lanterns’ show.

It seems we’ll be seeing a lot of the Daily Planet in James Gunn’s Superman, as the director has assembled quite the cast of characters to fill the ranks of the newspaper. THR reports that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald have joined the cast of Superman as Cat Grant and Ron Troupe, respectively.
Cat Grant is a gossip columnist who was introduced as a potential love interest for Clark Kent. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and Jerry Ordway and has made the leap to live-action several times before, notably by Tracy Scoggins in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and by Calista Flockhart in Supergirl. As for Ron Troupe, the character was created by Jerry Ordway and Tom Grummett and is regarded as one of the Daily Planet’s best reporters. Superman director James Gunn recently shared an Instagram photo with several actors from the Dcu reboot, leading to speculation that the two new faces in the pic had joined the cast.
Sure enough, THR is now reporting that Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald will appear in the movie as Clark Kent and Lois Lane's fellow Daily Planet newshounds.
Hoover will play Cat Grant, "a gossip columnist who had her eyes set on Kent," and MacDonald is playing Ron Troupe, "one of the best reporters in the newsroom."
Hoover has appeared in several previous Gunn-directed and produced movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and The Belko Experiment. McDonald - not to be confused with the veteran Happy Gilmore actor - is a newcomer to the screen.

Of all of the small screen supervillains, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor stands near – if not at – the top. Even though the likes of Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg, and more all played the key Superman baddie in various forms, Rosenbaum’s interpretation is S-Tier for a lot of fans. But don’t expect to see him in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, despite Rosenbaum’s efforts.
Appearing at Nashville Comiccon, Rosenbaum said he actually asked Gunn why he wasn’t given a shot at Superman. “I asked him, ‘Why am I not in Superman? Why am I not in the movie somehow?’…It was fine, though. I wish him all the happiness.” Rosenbaum continued his praise for Gunn, adding, “He deserves all the success he has. He’s enormously talented. When it’s the right thing, he’ll ask me. Or he won’t. And that’s aside from friendship.

Tom Hiddleston recently opened up about how Christopher Reeve's performance as Superman inspired his portrayal of Loki in the MCU.
The Emmy-nominated actor's take on the God of Mischief has become one of the most iconic performances in the MCU since he debuted in the first Thor film and the success of his portrayal has led to his own TV series.
We've also seen for the past few years that Hiddleston has a strong passion and adoration for the character despite being a villain during the earlier years of his tenure in the role.

It’s been quite some time since 2011’s Green Lantern ran the property into the ground and shut down any aspirations the IP had of being a cash cow for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Not only did the film kill all ambitions of a successful Green Lantern franchise, but it also managed to shut down Green Lantern: The Animated Series, which was already having trouble with its toy sales.

Yesterday, we shared a speculative report about former Saturday Night Live cast member Beck Bennett potentially joining the cast of James Gunn's Superman.
Several hours later, the Hollywood trades confirmed the casting and Gunn has since revealed Bennett's role. As expected, he's playing The Daily Planet's Steve Lombard.
The character was created by Cary Bates and Curt Swan and first appeared in 1973's Superman #264. On the page, Lombard is a sports reporter, and later a sports anchor, for The Daily Planet, the same newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work.

Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters sequel will receive its Italian premiere at this year’s Taormina Film Festival, which takes place July 12 to July 19 in southern Italy.
Twisters will screen at the festival’s historic Teatro Antico amphitheater. This year’s event will mark the festival’s 70th edition. The film will be released in Italian theatres on July 17 via Warner Bros. Pictures and will hit North American cinemas on July 19 via Universal Pictures.
“I am grateful to Warner Bros. for this wonderful gift, which confirms one of our programming guidelines: relying on diversity of styles,” said Marco Müller, artistic director of the Taormina Film Festival. “With Twisters, Lee Isaac Chung has gone from his Academy Award-winning drama Minari to deliver a spectacular cinematic event speaking to an even wider audience.”
Twisters is billed as “a sweeping current-day chapter of the 1996 blockbuster.” The film stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser, and Glen Powell who plays Tyler Owens, a charming and reckless social media superstar. The synopsis reads: Two opposing forces, come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.
The cast also features Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos (In The Heights), Brandon Perea (Nope), Golden Globe awardee Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy), and Sasha Lane (American Honey), along with David Corenswet (the upcoming Superman), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) and Nik Dodani (Atypical).
Producers are Frank Marshall (the Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones franchises) and Patrick Crowley (the Jurassic Park and Bourne franchises). The film was written by Mark L. Smith, screenwriter of The Revenant, from a story by Joseph Kosinski, based on characters created by Michael Crichton & Anne-Marie Martin.
The Taormina Film Festival is promoted and organised by the Fondazione Taormina Arte Sicilia with the support of the Assessorato del Turismo dello Sport e dello Spettacolo della Regione Siciliana of the Sicilia Film Commission, the Municipality of Taormina and the Ministry of Culture–General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual (MiC).
