The CW used to be the ideal network for soapy teen dramas, sci-fi vampires and werewolf series, and DC superhero shows.
Now, it's a disappointing shell of those days.
The Vampire Diaries premiered back in 2009 and led to two additional spinoffs, while DC's Arrow began in 2012 and also began a massive franchise.
The CW used to include soapy dramas or sci-fi series, such as Supernatural, which launched Jared Padalecki's career.
The CW has only four original series left, and Superman & Lois will air its final season in the fall.
All American and All American: Homecoming are all on the bubble, while Walker was canceled. It seems like The CW has changed its' identity, and it's not favorable.
We long to return to those glory days when The CW ruled TV fandoms.

10. What We Do in the Shadows (2019–2024)
We often picture vampires as the ultimate nocturnal predators, masters of seduction and illusion, don’t we? The entire charm of the Wwds’s bloodsuckers is how humane they are.
Sure, they only survive on drinking blood, but they’re just as funky, daft, insecure, and troubled as us — and that makes them all the more relatable.
You can watch What We Do in the Shadows on Hulu, Max, Apple TV, Disney Plus, and Prime Video.
9. Hemlock Grove (2013–2015)
If you need a simple and unsophisticated conflict in a vampire story, all you need to do is throw in some werewolves. Hemlock Grove takes this classic move up a notch and surrounds its titular town with a thick mist of uncertainty, mystique, and intrigues — all the while maintaining the tone of the otherworldly murder mystery.
You can watch Hemlock Grove on Netflix, Apple TV, and Prime Video.

Daniel Gillies is returning to The CW after several years away.
Best known for playing Elijah Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, the actor has also appeared on Virgin River and Seal Team.
Now, he will play a homicide detective on Sight Unseen.
Sight Unseen focuses on a young woman named Tess (Dolly Lewis), whose life is upended when she learns that she’s clinically blind.
After being forced to leave behind her homicide detective career, we see her trying to navigate a new way of life while simultaneously trying to crack cases.
Jake is there for Tess every step of the way, but their relationship changes considerably when Tess becomes more reliant on technology, which isn’t the type of policing Jake understands.

Rising British talents C.J Beckford and Maisie Richardson-Sellers are set to appear in the feature “Run.”
The film, from director Bernard Kordieh and Rashomon Films, was shot in 2022 under Covid-19 restrictions and is, per the description, a “social impact feature film designed to start a conversation about mental health and strip away the stigma surrounding the issue.”
“As filmmakers, finding one’s creative voice is a difficult and sometimes isolating process, and the dynamics of personal relationships can either aid or hinder this journey,” Kordieh said in a statement. “‘Run’ explores the complex relationship between mental health and creativity, as our protagonist grapples with the pressure to produce great work and the emotional toll it takes on him. It also explores the complexities of relationships with no true ‘villains’ in a break-up that seeks to create a story that balances raw authenticity with magic realism on a deep and emotional level.

We’re just a week away from the premiere of X-Men ’97, the highly anticipated relaunch of the beloved ’90s animated series, but in a shocking move, Marvel has fired creator Beau DeMayo.

DeMayo’s Instagram account, which he frequently updated, has also been deleted. The reason behind the firing is unknown, as Marvel had no comment and DeMayo’s reps didn’t return calls. The Vampire Diaries is one of CW’s most iconic teen dramas ever created. As the name suggests, this series follows the life of a young girl whose life is turned upside down when two vampire brothers come back into their hometown, bringing a slew of supernatural creatures with them. This CW show became highly successful, spawning two sequel series, The Originals and Legacies, and giving its talented cast international recognition. Stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, and Kat Graham are more famous for their roles in this series than any of their other work in media, even though The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017 and lasted only eight seasons.

The Vampire Diaries spawned a super popular, fan-favorite franchise of shows on The CW!
The series, which ran for eight seasons, centered on 17-year-old Elena, who was torn between two vampire brothers, good Stefan and the evil Damon, who face new dangers in the town of Mystic Falls.
Tvd also spawned two more spinoff shows – The Originals and Legacies, the latter of which just came to an end in 2022. There’s even an idea for a fourth series!
Since it’s debut in 2009, the stars have gone on to have successful careers in Hollywood, and they have wracked up impressive fortunes in the process. But who is the wealthiest? We did some digging and looked at the estimated net worth of the biggest stars on the show and ranked them. The top earners are worth over $10 million!

This is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Thursday, October 12, 2023.
Daniel Gillies is returning to The CW.
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals alum will star in Sight Unseen, a co-production between the network and CTV.
The series focuses on a "top homicide detective (Dolly Lewis) who is forced to quit the job she loves after nearly killing her partner and being diagnosed as clinically blind," according to the official logline.
"Reluctant to accept help, Tess uses an assistance app and connects with Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), a professional seeing-eye guide and an agoraphobe living 3,000 miles away.
After losing her vision, Tess is haunted by the unsolved cases she left behind.
Using a hidden camera and earpiece, Sunny remotely steers Tess through life's obstacles — and crimes — as the two challenge preconceptions about ability, trust and where to draw the line.

“You kind of grow with the show after all the years of being in it,” says makeup artist Patricia Regan, reflecting on her five season with “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” She and hair stylist Kimberley Spiteri came together to discuss how they transformed the characters on the Amazon series over time. The pair are Emmy nominated in the Period and/or Character Makeup and Hairstyling categories, respectively. Watch the exclusive video interview above.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” began its life in the 1950s, and moved the action into the 60s in later seasons. So the concept of “evolution” is nothing new to Regan and Spiteri when it comes to style. With several years of the series under their belts, the pair grew accustomed to constant research for period-accurate looks, and always kept an eye out for new colors or textures that might inspire them. “I feel like it almost became second nature,...

The USA Network legal drama Suits has seen a surge in popularity on Netflix and Peacock over the summer, with over 3.1 billion minutes of the show watched across both streamers from June 26 to July 2. Nielsen predicts that the show’s popularity on streaming will only continue to grow, given that 75% of the views calculated during that time were generated by only the first three of the series’ nine seasons. With the show pulling such huge numbers nearly four years after its finale, many people have been wondering if the actors and writers will gain anything from the billions of views their show is bringing to these streaming services.
The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes of 2023 have brought to light the stark pay discrepancies between broadcast TV and streaming, especially when it comes to residuals. Actors and writers working for broadcast and cable shows receive payments when their episodes appear in reruns and syndication.

The Vampire Diaries was the crown jewel of The CW's line-up for several seasons.
The series wrapped its run in 2017 after eight romance and drama-filled seasons.
Paul Wesley recently spoke out against returning to that universe, and it has started a conversation about whether a reboot should come to pass.
In a new interview with Andy Cohen on Radio Andy, Nina Dobrev thinks people shouldn't even be talking about a reboot because "the show didn't even end that long ago."
"I'm very close with Paul [Wesley] and Kayla [Ewell] and Candice [Accola], and Kat [Graham], and the list goes on because it was such a big part of our lives for so many years.
"So it's hard not to stay in touch with everybody and see them when we can."
Wesley confirmed he was done with all things vampire-related, so Andy asked whether Nina was feeling the same.

If a new project in The Vampire Diaries universe ever comes to pass, we can count Paul Wesley out.
Wesley played Stefan Salvatore for eight seasons on the hit CW drama but said he'd "hard pass" any potential comeback.
"I would never do another vampire anything, period, let alone Vampire Diaries," the actor explained to InStyle earlier this month.
"I don't really miss anything about playing him, and I don't mean that in a [negative way]," he added.
"Eight years is a long time, and I'm so glad to put that to rest. Eight seasons."
If you watch The Vampire Diaries online, you know that Wesley's arc as Stefan Salvatore culminated with the character perishing to save the town.
The series' final scene showed Stefan reuniting with his brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), in the afterlife.
Wesley was fond of his time on the show, but after eight seasons, he isn't interested in a comeback.

The day that SAG-AFTRA began its talks with Hollywood studios over its own film and TV contract with a strike authorization in hand, picketing Writers Guild members on Wednesday hit up Disney and Warner Bros in Burbank.
The WGA West’s demonstrations were the only major ones today, after the WGA East was forced to scrap its planned picketing in New York City due to poor air quality because of smoke from a slew of wildfires raging in Canada. The guild later in the day said it will pause its demonstrations for the entire week due to the conditions.
In Burbank, today began at Warner Bros, where by 10:30 a.m. the picket lines grew to about 100 people. Among those spotted were scribes from CW and/or WB Network shows including Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill, 90210, Riverdale, Nancy Drew, all the DC superhero shows,...

Zoanne Clack, Greg Iwinski and Julie Plec sat down with their fellow writer Beau Willimon for an Atx Television Festival panel to discuss this year’s writers strike and how it’s different than previous ones.
“Back then, we were nervous about what was ahead,” said Plec, who created Vampire Diaries and its spinoffs The Originals and Legacies. “We were concerned about what we saw coming down the pipeline. There was an intangibility to that concern [that] turned out to be quite prescient and, ultimately, catastrophically accurate.”
This time around, Plec explained writers are striking because they’re upset and then took a moment to point out that she has reaped the benefits of a successful career, so she’s speaking on behalf of people who helped her get to this point in her career.

[Editor’s note: The following article contains spoilers for “Yellowjackets” Season 2 up through Episode 3, “Digestif.”]
Every character is going through it in “Yellowjackets’ Season 2, whether they’re hallucinating, sleepwalking, or consuming human flesh. But in Episode 3, which deals with the aftermath of the marooned high schoolers consuming a classmate’s corpse, one character in particular seems damaged beyond repair: Coach Ben Scott (Steven Kreuger).
Ever since the plane crash — in which he lost his leg — Ben Scott became the group’s de facto authority figure as the only surviving adult. But after months without rescue and with team captain Jackie (Ella Purnell) now digesting in everyone’s bellies — everyone, that is, except Ben himself — comes a seismic yet subtle shift in the survivors’ dynamic, one in which the person who was presumably in charge, however tenuously, no longer has any interest in the role. Ben’s responsible adult exterior is cracking, and it’s only a matter of time before it breaks.
