Jack Reynor is reuniting with his “Sing Street” director John Carney for the musical comedy “Power Ballad.”
He will star alongside Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Described as an “uplifting and music-driven story,” the film follows a wedding singer, a rock star — and the song that comes between them. It’s unclear who any of the three actors will portray.
This marks the fourth collaboration between Reynor and Carney following the musical comedies “Sing Street” and “Flora and Son,” as well as the Amazon Prime series “Modern Love.” Reynor is also known for Ari Aster’s horror film “Midsommar,” “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and Amazon’s TV series “The Peripheral.” He’ll be seen next in Netflix’s “The Perfect Couple” adaptation and Amazon’s series “Citadel,” now in its second season.

What’s even Hollywood without a dash of vendetta? Behind the scenes, conflicts and tensions can simmer, but perhaps none have reached the dramatic heights seen on the set of Transformers: Age of Extinction. Miller escalated to a great level, with whispers circulating that Miller’s character’s demise in the film was orchestrated as a result of Bay’s alleged pettiness.
A still from Transformers: Age of Extinction
Despite the undeniable success of the movie, the prospect of these two collaborators joining forces again seems dim, because of the lingering animosity between them.

Mark Wahlberg became popular on social media when he revealed details about his rigorous daily schedule, which included two workouts (the first beginning at four in the morning). Since then, Marky Mark has continued his ‘4 a.m. club’, inspiring his fans to tackle the day head-on and leaving them in awe of his superhuman abilities.
True enough, who does that? Who among us actually gets up in the middle of the night to go to the gym, pray, eat, and exercise before the rest of us even open our eyes? Wahlberg appears and performs like a ‘superhuman’ at 52. You may be in your third dream sequence, where he starts working out early.

Following Shia Labeouf’s departure from the Transformers franchise, Mark Wahlberg assumed the lead role in the sci-fi action series, appearing in two films within the franchise. The "Jurassic World" franchise is simply too big to go extinct. We recently learned that not only is Universal Pictures developing a seventh entry in the long-running dinosaur franchise, but the movie is set to hit theaters next summer. Yes, assuming the release date holds, we'll be seated for a new blockbuster in which humans and dinos try to co-exist in just over a year. For the moment, the studio is remaining very tight-lipped about the film, which opens the door for us to speculate wildly. That's precisely what we're going to do, while not going too off the rails with unfounded theorizing.
Rather, as a self-proclaimed super-fan of the franchise, I am going to take you, dear reader, through the options that can reasonably be considered, broadly speaking, following 2022's "Jurassic World Dominion." We're going to go over each broad possibility, as well as the pros and cons of each approach.

"I am the person I am today because of the people that help me... and the people that hurt me." Vertical has revealed the official trailer for a film titled Lola, marking the feature directorial debut of actress Nicola Peltz Beckham (formerly known just Nicola Peltz - most will recognize her from her role in Transformers: Age of Extinction or on "Bates Motel"). Not to be confused with the other indie sci-fi film titled Lola from last year, this is an entirely different one. Peltz Beckham also stars as the titular Lola James. Lola works to save enough money to get her little brother, Arlo, out of their toxic home. Arlo keeps her hopeful, until one tragic night, when her whole world gets uprooted. From that moment on, nothing will ever be the same. The cast includes Virginia Madsen, Trevor Long, Luke David Blumm, Raven Goodwin, Sunil Narkar, Stephen Graybill,...

Deborah Ann Woll and the Daredevil Commitment When we talk about Deborah Ann Woll, we instantly recall her as Karen Page from the Daredevil TV series. Her dedication to the Marvel universe was not just a single show affair; her character spanned across The Punisher, and The Defenders. This commitment suggests a significant time investment in these series, potentially overlapping with the schedule of Transformers 4. Could this be why she missed out on joining the Autobots and Decepticons? It’s quite plausible that the timelines just didn’t align for Woll to consider other roles. Analyzing Deborah Ann Woll’s Career Trajectory...

Plot: Dan Morgan loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story. Decades earlier, he was an elite government assassin tasked with eliminating the world’s deadliest threats. When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife, angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old baby into their minivan and takes off on an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas. Determined to protect his family — while treating them to the vacation of a lifetime — Dan must put his long-dormant skills into action, without revealing his true identity.

The “Transformers” franchise returned to theaters in 2023 with “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” the latest installment in the big-screen, live-action adaptation of the beloved Hasbro toy line. “Rise of the Beasts,” which is the planned start of a new trilogy, is the seventh film in the series. Chronologically, it comes after “Bumblebee,” which was a prequel to the first five films in the series. This means you don’t technically have to watch or rewatch any of the Michael Bay-helmed movies before — but don’t you kind of want to anyway?
In case you forgot, Michael Bay was behind the camera for “Transformers” (2007), “Revenge of the Fallen” (2009), “Dark of the Moon” (2011), “Age of Extinction” (2014), and “The Last Knight” (2017). A movie about the United States’ entry into the Atomic Age might not seem like a straightforward sell in an increasingly nationalistic China, but “Oppenheimer” got off to a strong start there, earning $39 million in 10 days.
That’s amid solid word of mouth (an 8.9 from Douban) and a local press tour by director Christopher Nolan. His in-person promotional visit marked the first such event for a Hollywood film since pre-covid times.
The puzzle now is whether Nolan’s popularity in China is a one-of-a-kind factor or if there’s a broader lesson about what can make for a blockbuster in the country. It’s a crucial question about a once-lucrative market for Hollywood superhero movies and other action-driven tentpoles that has lately proven far more challenging for film marketers.

For years, the live-action "Transformers" movie franchise's box office numbers appeared to have a reverse correlation with Rotten Tomatoes scores: the more scathing reviews a "Transformers" movie got, the more tickets it would sell. This was held up as proof that (depending on your perspective) either snooty film critics are out of touch with modern moviegoers, or modern moviegoers will watch any old trash as long as it's loud and action-heavy and has characters they recognize.
Neither of these conclusions are really fair. Director Michael Bay, for all his faults, does a great explosion and also perfected the art of the 360 spinning hero shot. Sometimes the world needs a loud movie with robots that will entertain kids who aren't really paying attention to the plot. And film critics can love trash just as much as the next person. Even The New Yorker, a publication so snooty that its mascot is...

Assembling the right party is an important part of the Baldur’s Gate 3 experience. Indeed, the moment you realize you can only roll out with three companions at any given time is the moment you’ll realize how valuable the right team can be.
However, like so many other aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3, assembling the optimal party is as much about your preferences and the situation before you as it is about the game’s raw mechanics. You can make just about any combination of classes work in this game, though most of the best combinations will follow the basic “Tank, Healer, Melee Dps, Ranged Dps” setup.
Of course, since Baldur’s Gate 3 plays with traditional role-playing…err…roles in rather interesting ways, you don’t necessarily have to follow that tried and true formula to make it through the game. To give you a better idea of what is possible,...

“Barbie” is the latest film to cross the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, a feat accomplished by only 52 other films in history. The oldest film on the list is Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park,” which didn’t crack the $1 billion mark until the film’s 20th anniversary re-release in 2013. The first film to ever crack $1 billion was James Cameron’s Oscar-winning “Titanic,” which still sits at #3 on the list with a whopping $2.2 billion. Cameron, of course, dominates the list with three films in the Top 5 including “Avatar,” still the highest-grossing film ever made.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has more films in the $1 billion club than any other franchise with 10, while Disney has more films on the list than any other studio with 24 thanks to Marvel, Pixar, “Star Wars” and Disney animation and live-action remakes.

Even people who don't typically pay attention to box office numbers are surely aware that Warner Bros. and Mattel hit a home run with "Barbie." With Margot Robbie as the title character and Greta Gerwig in the director's chair, the film has been a smash hit thus far, breaking records while fending off the likes of "Oppenheimer" and "Haunted Mansion" to sit comfortably atop the charts all over the world. Now, the movie gets to count itself among the 100 biggest movies in history just shy of two full weeks into its theatrical run.
According to The Numbers, "Barbie" has now earned $804.3 million worldwide, including a massive $15.2 million on Tuesday. With that, Gerwig's blockbuster now enters the all-time top 100 at the box office, coming in at 97 just above "Jumanji: The Next Level" ($798.2 million). It will -- perhaps by the end of the sentence -- pass "Shrek the Third" ($807.3 million) to move up another spot.

“Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is coming to Paramount+ this week.
The streamer announced the action- and visual effects-packed film will be available to stream on the service beginning Tuesday, July 25 in the United States and Canada. The film’s availability in additional international Paramount+ markets will be announced at a later date.
The seventh installment of the hit Paramount Pictures film franchise opened atop the domestic box office back in June and has grossed over $420 million worldwide.
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, the film takes audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduces a whole new faction of Transformer – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth against the Terrorcons.
While “Rise of the Beasts” is the newest Transformers film, it actually takes place before most of its predecessors in terms of storyline.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is the latest big Hollywood movie to bomb in China, earning just $2.3 million over its opening weekend. It comes on the heels of “The Flash” earning just $25 million since opening three weekends ago as well as “The Little Mermaid” earning just $3.7 million after a month in theaters.
Like “Solo: A Star Wars Story” in 2018, it would appear that “Indiana Jones 5” was a domestic-skewing IP sell, especially with the brand mostly dormant since “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” in 2008, with a less-than-hoped overseas appeal. None of the previous “Indiana Jones” films played in China, which means there’s no generational nostalgia for the brand or Harrison Ford’s marquee character.
It’s one more costly example of how Chinese audiences are showing a preference for homegrown movies over Hollywood tentpoles, a conundrum for studios that spent the 2010s counting on China as a growth market.

Those mockbuster makers at The Asylum are at it again. When the first live-action Transformers movie was released back in 2007, The Asylum got in on the giant robot action by releasing a movie called Transmorphers. The Transformers sequel Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen followed in 2009 – so The Asylum responded with the Transmorphers prequel Transmorphers: Fall of Man. Since then, the Transformers franchise has continued to grow. There was Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011, Transformers: Age of Extinction in 2014, Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017, and the spin-off prequel Bumblebee in 2018. Another prequel, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, is in theatres right now. And while The Asylum has let several Transformers movies come and go without meeting them with a Transmorphers mockbuster, this year they’re finally reviving the franchise with Transmorphers: Mech Beasts! You can watch the film’s trailer in the embed above.

Opening in theaters and on VOD July 14, Vertical’s “The Modelizer” offers a trailer that sells a romantic comedy that’s part of a new wave of “Hong Kong Films,” which are original features where the subject matter is distinctly Hong Kong but is in English.
Directed by Keoni Waxman and produced, written by and starring Byron Mann (who has seemingly aged about ten minutes since playing Ryu in the 1994 “Street Fighter” movie), the picture is a conventional mix of rom-com tropes (a well-off womanizer must change his ways once he finds someone – played by Rayssa Bratillieri — worth settling down for) and wealth porn, with the obvious hook being that it’s from a locale that isn’t often presented in such a fashion in mainstream Hollywood flicks.
The locale is usually for stranger-in-a-strange-land actioners like Dwayne Johnson’s “Skyscraper” (who co-starred Mann) and Rowann Atkinson’s “Johnny English Reborn...

Autobots – roll out. The Transformers franchise has been a staple in pop-culture ever since their creation as toys back in the 1980s. However, the concept of massive living creatures turning into everyday machines and living secretly amongst humans was so compelling and unique that it warranted much more than just action figures. Followed by tv shows, graphic novels, and multiple spinoffs the Transformers universe quickly became one of the largest established I.P. in the history of media. And of course, that means Hollywood came knocking. But, not all entries have been great, as we’ll dig into with our Transformers Movies Ranked list!

If it feels like every couple of years there’s a new “Transformers” movie, you wouldn’t be wrong.
Beginning with 2007’s “Transformers,” seven live-action movies have been released. The first five were directed by Michael Bay, who remained a producer on the two most recent films.
The first five films take place in present day, while the sixth film “Bumblebee” (the only film without “Transformers” in its title) is set in 1987. The upcoming film “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is set in the ’90s, so it’s a sequel And a prequel.
Confused? Don’t be. We break down how to watch the live-action Transformers movies in order.

After five long years, the Transformers franchise is finally heading back to theaters with the release of "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" on June 9. The new movie, which marks the seventh film in the franchise, stars Anthony Ramos ("In the Heights") as an electronics expert and Dominique Fishback ("Swarm") as an artifact researcher who both get unexpectedly thrust into "a '90s globetrotting adventure" with the Autobots and Decepticons.
"Rise of the Beasts" will introduce not only a new set of human characters but new Transformers factions as well, known as the Maximals, the Predacons, and the Terrorcons. These aliens can turn into robotic animals, and while we've seen these types of Transformers in the '90s "Beast Wars" cartoon, we're just now getting to witness them in live-action form. Paramount, Skydance and Hasbro’s “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” began its domestic box office sprint on Thursday with $8.8 million in preview screening grosses. That is on par with (sans inflation) the $8.8 million earned via Tuesday previews for “Transformers: The Last Knight” in June of 2017 and the $8.75 million Thursday preview gross of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” in 2014. “Bumblebee” nabbed $2.85 million in previews amid a holiday-season Wed-Sun debut in late 2018.
Pre-release projections pegged the film for a $50-$60 million opening weekend, and that’s what these Thursday grosses point toward.
A Thursday-to-weekend multiplier on par with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” ($118 million from a $17 million Thursday) and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” ($120 million/$17.4 million) gets it to $61 million. A more optimistic comparison to “Fast X” ($67 million/$7.5 million) or “John Wick: Chapter 4” ($73 million/$8.9 million) has it earning between $73 million and $78 million by Sunday night.

This weekend sees the release of the latest adventure in the Transformers franchise as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hits theaters. The film is meant to reboot the series, yet still in the same universe as all previous films. As I understand it, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a sequel to Bumblebee which also makes it a prequel to the original five Michael Bay directed movies (Bay remains a producer on this new film.)
The Transformers franchise has seen it fair share of ups and downs, beginning in 2007 when the original big screen film hit theaters and opened with $70.5 million on its way to a $319.2 million domestic finish ($709.7 worldwide). 2009 saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen hit screens with an opening weekend of $108.9 million and a $402.1 million domestic finish ($836.3 million worldwide.) Summer’s tentpole rumble continues this weekend with Paramount’s seventh Transformers movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is heat-seeking $155 million at the worldwide box office for its opening frame, $100M of that offshore.
The movie reps a concentrated reboot by the studio of the long-in-tooth robots-in-disguise franchise, which has suffered in latter installments from declining ticket sales. This is the second Transformers movie not directed by Michael Bay after 2018’s Bumblebee (though Bay still produces), and looks to distinguish itself from the fray with its introduction of the robotic animals from the Hasbro franchise. Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. is at the helm and the movie stars In the Heights’ Anthony Ramos and The Deuce and Judas and the Black Messiah’s Dominique Fishback. The pic cost a net $195M co-financed by Skydance.

With just a few days to go before the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Paramount Pictures has released the final trailer for the latest installment of the franchise.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts introduces new factions of Transformers, including the Maximals led by Optimus Primal and the Terrorcons led by Scourge. As you can see in the final trailer above, Rise of the Beasts also introduces Unicron, the planet-sized Transformer who devours entire worlds. The gigantic Transformer was first introduced in Transformers: The Movie back in 1986 where he was voiced by Orson Welles. This time around the character is voiced by Colman Domingo of Fear the Walking Dead.

With just four days until “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” hits theatres, Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback chat about filming the franchise’s seventh instalment, plus Ramos reveals what it was like to suit up in his own autobot costume.
Among the upcoming film’s many shooting locations was the largest city in Canada’s Québec province — Montreal — which Ramos gushed over.
The actor loved the city so much that, when filming wrapped, he looked at Montreal apartments.
“I was like, ‘Oh, I think I’m going to move here,'” Ramos, 31, told Et Canada’s Carlos Bustamante.

Love ’em or hate ’em, Michael Bay has helmed more hours of live-action Transformers mayhem than any other director. Steven Caple Jr. has taken the helm of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, but he told THR that he still reached out to Michael Bay for advice on the movie.
“You want to make sure you’re in your creative bubble when trying to design this world and build out the franchise, but similar to when I stepped into the Creed franchise, you call the ones who have done it before you, whether it be Sylvester Stallone or Ryan Coogler,” Steven Caple Jr. explained. “So I’m doing the same here. I hit up Michael Bay, who’s, of course, a producer on this project. He was making Ambulance at the time, but he still picked up the phone and hopped onto Zoom.“

The summer movie season is officially here, and 2023 will be welcoming back a staple of blockbuster cinema for the past decade and a half with "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts." The live-action movies focused on the Autobots and Decepticons have raked in billions in ticket sales since Michael Bay kicked things off in 2007 with "Transformers." Yet, it's been just shy of five years since "Bumblebee" ushered in a new era for the alien robots. The wait is nearly over and, even though it's been a long time, Paramount isn't going to have audiences trapped in a theater for an indulgent amount of time, as the latest entry clocks in at just under two hours.
As reported by Collider, "Rise of the Beasts" will hit theaters with a runtime of 1 hour and 57 minutes. That means it will be just a hair longer than "Bumblebee" (1 hour and 54 minutes), and remarkably shorter than Bay's fifth and final installment,...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts: The runtime has been revealed for the new robots in disguise movie
The seventh entry in the Transformers series is upon us. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is aiming to expand on the brand’s lore and is looking to give us the first all-out robot war outside of Cybertron. Rise of the Beasts is helmed by Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. and follows the events of Travis Knight’s Bumblebee. There is still confusion on whether or not the continuity remains the same with the Michael Bay movies. Although, it has been said that the studio truly considers Bumblebee to be a reboot, so despite this film taking place in the 90s, it’s likely it will not lead into the 2005 original.
When Michael Bay capped off his run with Transformers: Age of Extinction and Transformers: The Last Knight, he delivered possibly his biggest endurance test on the senses with the most chaotic action clocking in at over two and a half hours with both.
