Hallmark Channel to adapt The Chicken Sisters as a series
Hallmark Channel has had much success with its original series, including When Calls the Heart, The Way Home, and more. Now, a brand new series is heading to the feel-good channel, based on the 2020 novel “The Chicken Sisters,” written by K.J.
Dell’Antonia. Starring Schuyler Fisk, Genevieve Angelson, Lea Thompson, and Wendie Malick. Meanwhile, Annie Mebane is the showrunner of the series and executive producer of the eight episodes.
New Hallmark Channel series The Chicken Sisters
The Chicken Sisters is a family drama, set in the fictional town of Merinac. Here, a generations-old rift continues between two fried chicken restaurants, Mimi’s and Frannie’s.
This has left the founders’ families fractured, while locals in the town started taking sides. However, when a popular cooking show comes to town, things get even more complicated as sparks begin to fly and secrets are uncovered.

Audiences of all ages adore cozy mysteries.
Within the genre, Hallmark mysteries have reigned supreme for years.
The question is which Hallmark mystery movie franchises are the best.
The best cozies contain idyllic settings, well-established characters, and elements of romance and humor. They also need staying power, which is why the multi-movie series are usually the most popular.
With those points in mind, here's how several of them compare.

Jesse Metcalfe plays Jeff Jackson, a medically retired police detective living in the picturesque setting of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. He solves crimes with the help of a doctor and medical examiner, played by Sarah Lind.
This is one of the worst Hallmark mystery franchises in terms of believability. Characters repeatedly get away with things real-life doctors and cops could not do, such as freely sharing confidential information with multiple other characters.

With his talent drawing comparisons to the great late actor, Heath Ledger, ahead of the Dune: Part Two release, Austin Butler, 32, is making a name for himself in Hollywood rather quickly. While being compared to such an iconic actor is undoubtedly flattering, it can also be a double-edged sword, especially when those comparisons are made before a film even hits theaters.
Early reviews of Dune 2 have begun to circulate, with some critics boldly claiming that the film is as good as The Dark Knight, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest superhero films of all time. Not only that, but the director of the Christian Bale-starring film, to which the upcoming Denis Villeneuve-helmed epic is being compared, has lavished even greater praise on it.

Apple TV+ series “Masters of the Air” is the third collaboration from the team behind HBO’s “Band of Brothers” and “The Pacific.” Trio Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Steven Spielberg produced the nine-part World War II epic series, which spotlights the men who fought in the 8th Air Force, specifically the men of the 100th Bomb Group. The vivid and vital story finds roots in the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller.
The crew of a typical Eighth Air Force heavy bomber plane included ten men — a pilot and his co-pilot flying the B17, the navigator and the bombardier in the machine’s nose, the flight engineer behind the pilot, the radio operator, two waist gunners, a ball turret gunner and a tail gunner. Not to mention the men who strategized from the bases, the plane engineers and Tuskegee airmen or Royal Airforce pilots who feature in this story.

The Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg-produced World War II series Masters of the Air has something that its predecessors did not: a bona fide movie star in the lead role. Thanks to his award-winning role as the King himself in 2022’s Elvis, Austin Butler has burst onto the scene as a major acting force. And he brings that gravitas with him to portray Gale “Buck” Cleven in the nine-episode Apple TV+ series about WWII bomber pilots.
Cleven is the perfect role for the brooding Butler – a quiet, confident figure that the rest of his crew looks up to. Cleven also serves as the culmination of years of work for the actor just as much as the Elvis Presley gig did. Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber shined in the new mystery series, The Spencer Sisters. The series combined light-hearted crime drama with family angst well.
The Spencer Sisters Season 1 Episode 1 introduced both Darby and Victoria Spencer and hinted at why they had been estranged.
As an introductory chapter, the series did a decent job previewing the issues our leading ladies may have and what motivated them to go into the private investigation business together.
The Spencer Sisters was similar to many of Canada's other breezy procedurals, where private investigators solve crimes, typically bloodless ones, with plenty of humor sprinkled in. It reminded me of Private Eyes, which made sense since Alan McCullough created and produced both series.

In a carriage battle about pay TV’s future, one of the original cable channels became an unexpected flashpoint.
Freeform, the Disney-owned cable channel that caters to younger women, was dropped from Spectrum channel lineups as part of Disney’s landmark deal with Charter Communications. It was no small decision, with Freeform in some 74 million homes at the end of last year, and with Charter’s nearly 15 million cable TV households no longer having access.
“When we looked across the portfolio to try to identify where the greatest value in this deal was to us, we definitely made some trade-offs,” Disney Entertainment co-chairman Dana Walden told The Hollywood Reporter after the Spectrum deal was announced. She noted that channels like Freeform already served as a pipeline of programming for streaming services like Hulu.

Austin Butler may have been swinging his hips (and arguably losing his natural voice) as the King of Rock ‘n Roll for Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,” but the Oscar-nominated actor has been a chameleon onscreen for close to two decades.
Starting off in Disney Channel and Nickelodeon tween series like “Hannah Montana” and “Zoey 101,” Butler got his start back in 2005 as a teen star before working with major directors such as Jim Jarmusch and Quentin Tarantino.
“I was sort of embarrassed about some of the things that I had to do,” Butler admitted in 2022. “But I had to cut my teeth somewhere, so I decided to treat each one of these jobs as a way to grow.”
Butler made his TV debut with back-to-back roles in “Hannah Montana,” “iCarly,” and “Zoey 101,” before later joining The CW dramas “Life Unexpected” and “Switched at Birth.” Butler then joined the “Sex and the City...

Austin Butler could have been a contender for Hannah Montana’s heart.
The “Elvis” Golden Globe winner reflected on the intensity he would bring to Disney and Nickelodeon roles, most famously as a suitor for Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) in the eponymous hit TV series. Butler starred in two episodes of “Hannah Montana,” with his second appearance playing Derek Hanson, Hannah’s blind date in Season 2 Episode 7, titled “My Best Friend’s Boyfriend.”
He additionally had roles in “iCarly” and “Zoey 101,” both of which landed modern-day revival series.
“I look back on the Nickelodeon and Disney shows that I did; even though my skill wasn’t there, I still wanted to give the energy [as if] I was going to make ‘Raging Bull,'” Butler told Backstage magazine. “I kept that fierce dedication toward trying to find more truth, even in things where it could be easier to just phone it in.

It’s hard to believe now, but just a few decades ago, Marvel movies did not dominate cinemas. In fact, the very first big-screen adaptation of a Marvel property is one of cinema’s best-known flops, 1986’s Howard the Duck. Based on the satirical character created by Steve Gerber, Howard the Duck baffled audiences with its surprising amount of duck nudity and off-key jokes. Not even the intervention of executive producer George Lucas, who planned to make a Howard the Duck before even starting Star Wars.
Obviously, Marvel and Lucasfilm have both recovered from the experience. The same is true for stars Tim Robbins and Lea Thompson, although it took a lot longer to bounce back. In a recent interview with the podcast Celebrity Catchup: Life After That Thing I Did, Thompson called the response to the movie “devastating.” It even overwhelmed Thompson’s breakout as Lorraine Baines in Back to the Future.

Austin Butler is taking on the role of a lifetime as the "King of Rock and Roll." The 30-year-old portrays Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's new biopic about the legendary singer, which is set to hit theaters June 24. On Feb. 17, Warner Bros. released the film's trailer with Butler completely transformed as a charismatic Presley. From the looks of it, the actor seems to have the rock 'n roll legend down pat - from his famous dance moves and cool demeanor to his iconic voice.
Though this will surely be Butler's biggest movie role yet, he's been in the spotlight for quite some time now. He got his start appearing on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel shows like "Zoey 101" and "Wizards of Waverly Place" before he landed a starring role on Freeform's "Switched at Birth." He's also well known for playing Sebastian Kydd on The CW's "Sex and the City" prequel series,...

Exclusive: Daniel Durant, who starred alongside Emilia Jones, Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur and Eugenio Derbez in Apple’s 2022 Best Picture Oscar winner Coda, has signed with Buchwald for representation.
The dramedy from writer-director Sian Heder, based on the French film La Famille Bélier, tells the story of Ruby Rossi (Jones), a Coda (or “child of deaf adult”) who serves as an interpreter for the members of her Boston family. At a pivotal moment in her life, the character finds herself torn between the role she plays, in connecting her loved ones to the outside world—above all, with regard to their fishing business—and her pursuit of an education in music. Durant portrayed Ruby’s brother, Leo—the eldest son to Jackie (Matlin) and Frank (Kotsur).

“Don’t Be Cruel” about Austin Butler’s child star past, because it led him to where he is today.
Just weeks before the “Elvis” actor jets off to Cannes for the premiere of the Baz Luhrmann historical epic, Butler revealed to Vogue that his Disney Channel roles still weigh on his mind.
“I was sort of embarrassed about some of the things that I had to do,” Butler admitted. “But I had to cut my teeth somewhere, so I decided to treat each one of these jobs as a way to grow.”
Butler made his TV debut in 2007 with back-to-back roles in “Hannah Montana,” “iCarly,” and “Zoey 101,” before later joining The CW tween dramas “Life Unexpected” and “Switched at Birth.” Butler then joined the “Sex and the City” universe in prequel series “The Carrie Diaries,” settling into a heartthrob boyfriend stereotype.
