At the beginning of 2022, Spotify shut down an internal studio that had been used to produce some of its original podcasts. 12 months later, the streaming service is promoting a different kind of Spotify studio: A fully-equipped production shop within the walls of its Los Angeles office.
Spotify laid out the creator-facing perks of its “At Mateo” facility in a post on its For The Record blog. The office is described as a “state-of-the-art music- and podcast-recording facility” filled with studios, lounges, and musical memorabilia. Visitors to the space can check out an amp used by the Stone Temple Pilots and a piano Norah Jones used to record her hit single ‘Don’t Know Why’.

Macro TV Studio on Wednesday announced five new hires to help bolster the studio’s executive ranks. Macro TV studios President Marta Fernandez revealed the addition of Inga Dyer as senior vice president of business and legal affairs, Aisha Corpas Wynn as vice president of alternative programming, Ahmadou Seck and Khalid Jordan as directors of development and Ilayda Yigit (not pictured) as manager.
Fernandez, herself, joined as president of former WME partner Charles D. King’s TV studio just last year to help grow and oversee Macro’s TV slate, which includes “Gentefied,” “Dawn,” and the Michael B. Jordan-produced “Raising Dion” for Netflix. Snapchat parent Snap Inc. has announced multi-year programming renewals with the NFL, NBA and several major media companies, set a new slate of originals and unveiled a new camera and augmented reality tools.
The raft of announcements came as Snap presented its second partner summit Thursday. Originally slated for April, it was pushed back due to the effects of Covid-19, and was dropped online in virtual, on-demand form, with CEO Evan Spiegel and other executives speaking in front of a green screen.
Snapchat’s popular Discover video platform, which was first introduced in 2015, has been embraced by several traditional players eager to reach the social platform’s coveted youth audience. On Thursday, Snap said Disney, ESPN, NBCUniversal, ViacomCBS, the NBA and the NFL have all expanded their Discover deals.
The multi-year deals include new shows and originals, mobile shows created exclusively for Snapchat’s audience, along with continued production of existing original franchises.

The first of the newly conceived Creator Shows premieres Wednesday, with debuts scheduled through the rest of the summer and into the fall.
