Many fans wondered why Mat Cauthon actor Barney Harris was replaced by Dònal Finn in Season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's The Wheel of Time.
Mat Cauthon was one of the main characters of Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson's The Wheel of Time series of fantasy novels.
After those books began to be adapted into the TV show of the same name, it looked as though Mat would also be a major name in that as well.

Prime Video dropped a sneak peek of “Wheel of Time” Season 2 ahead of its release on Sept. 1, which fans can now watch at the end of last season’s finale.
According to the Amazon-owned streamer, the special look “reflects the structure of the best-selling and epic “The Wheel of Time” book series by Robert Jordan,” in which he would add the first chapter of the next book as a preview.
The scene, which opens the first episode of the second season, is an adaptation of the fan favorite “Darkfriend Social” prologue of the second novel of Jordan’s series, “The Great Hunt,” upon which “Wheel of Time” Season 2 is largely based. It’s also based on some elements of Jordan’s third novel, “The Dragon Reborn.”

Prime Video released the official key art from the second season of ‘The Wheel of Time’. Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series The Wheel of Time, Rand al’Thor learns he is The Dragon Reborn – a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful women must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness.
The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light… or the Dark.

George R.R. Martin has given the world a series of books that captivated us. The "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels inspired the HBO series "Game of Thrones," and his 2018 prequel book "Fire and Blood" has spawned the upcoming series "House of the Dragon," set 200 years before the first series. It's a complex world, full of rich characters, dark dealings, power-mad rulers, and brave souls fighting for their freedom, and often, their lives.
The first book came out in 1996, and the fifth in 2011. As this is supposed to be a seven book series, you can understand that many fans are anxious for the sixth book after 11 years of waiting. Martin has been busy with public appearances, his work on both of the HBO series, and writing the prequel, and on his website, he has given different sorts of updates on the state of the sixth book, with his self-imposed deadlines passing again and again.

The Wheel of Time spun big numbers for Amazon Prime.
Coming off of the success of the first season, TV Fanatic got to sit down with Cinematographer David Moxness to discuss how the filming process unfolded.
Check out the interview below!
Were you a fan of the books before you started working on the show?
I had heard of the books but to be quite honest I had never read them prior to being involved.
When things were initially starting to come my way for consideration, I was very fortunate that my wife and I were doing a road trip across the country so I downloaded the audiobooks of the series and listened to them the whole way through the trip.
It was fantastic, and it really intrigued me and got me very interested. That was my first full start into the series of books.

Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series is quite rightly defined as massive. In fact, some have called it unadaptable. The story spans fourteen novels spread over two decades and was ultimately penned by two different authors (Jordan passed away in 2007 and fellow fantasy writer Brandon Sanderson was brought in to finish the series based on his notes.) It was also considered fairly groundbreaking in many ways, from its sprawling cast of major characters to its incorporation of the cyclical nature of creation most often seen in Eastern religions, its focus on balance and duality, and perhaps most importantly, its inclusion of multiple powerful, impactful women.
It’s hard to overemphasize how revolutionary the sheer act of simply including female characters in a fantasy story like this felt when the first book in this series was published in 1990. It’s true, not every woman in The Wheel of Time...

‘The Wheel of Time’ Boss on Adaptation Secret Weapons and Traveling to New Worlds Every Few Episodes
When writer/producer Rafe Judkins was tasked with bringing “The Wheel of Time” — author Robert Jordan’s beloved 14-volume fantasy book series with a zealous following akin to the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and George R.R. Martin — to big-budget life for Amazon Prime Video, he knew there would be challenges to satisfying longtime fans and luring in new devotees.
“I came into it already a fan of the books — read them all with my mom when I was younger — so I already had the great burden of responsibility on my shoulders,” Judkins, a veteran of “Chuck” and “Agents of Shield,” explained during a press preview screening at Hollywood’s Neuehouse.
“A lot of it is about figuring out how to stay true to the heart of what’s there in the books, but also create something that a new audience can understand,” he added. “You don’t have the benefit...

Although the former Fox drama that was resurrected at Netflix has been thought to be ending before, “this is it…for real this time,” they say.
At the end of the fifth season the titular devil (Tom Ellis) almost became God, and now the world is unraveling without an almighty deity to preside over things, leaving Lucifer with a really tough decision on his hands.
In addition to Ellis, Lauren German, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia and Kevin Alejandro also star in the series.

Amazon is doubling down on The Wheel of Time.
The streamer has renewed the fantasy series for a second season ahead of the launch of the show. It comes as production has wrapped on season one in the Czech Republic.
It is the latest market in a long road for the adaptation of Robert Jordan’s books, which has been in development in one form or another for 20 years and that Amazon ordered to series in October 2018. Like many series, production of the drama was also hit by the pandemic.
The Wheel of Time, set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it, is co-produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television and comes from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Chuck writer Rafe Judkins, who is showrunner and exec producer.

“The Wheel of Time” series at Amazon has been renewed for Season 2 just as production is ending on Season 1, Variety has learned.
Based on the Robert Jordan novel series, “The Wheel of Time” was first ordered at Amazon back in 2018. Set in a world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.
“The belief Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television have shown in ‘The Wheel of Time’ has been incredible to see throughout the entire process of making this show,” said series showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins.
