Pat McAfee hopes that ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers talk things over.

Well before NFL star Tom Brady retired from professional football, his off-field legacy was beginning to take shape through a business that’s grown from a handful of people dedicated to optimizing the quarterback’s social media opportunities to a multidimensional creative studio with about 20 employees across the country.
The company is called Shadow Lion, and it was founded in 2017 by a core team including Brady’s longtime manager Ben Rawitz, Jeff Fine (who happens to be Rawitz’s brother), and Gilad Haas who previously worked for Brady’s New England Patriots teammate Julian Edelman. The firm is one of a few celebrity founded marketing agencies — think: Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort — that have cropped up in recent years.
The buzzy Hertz commercials? That was them. The Emmy-winning series Tom vs. Time? They worked on that, alongside Religion of Sports, too.

CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus expects to step down from his post in April of 2024, and will be replaced by David Berson, the president of the unit. McManus will wind up a tenure that had him overseeing some of the most prized sports properties in TV, as well as CBS News for a brief period.
“This is the best time to make the transition,” says McManus in an interview, noting that Berson has been in his role as president for about a decade and that CBS Sports’ rights portfolio is locked in for another ten years. “I think everyone feels really good about it and everyone feels really good about David taking it over.” McManus will get to preside over a unique Super Bowl experience — the company plans to have Nickelodeon offer a kids’ version of the CBS broadcast of Super Bowl Lviii — and one more Masters before stepping down permanently.

NFL great Tom Brady has become a minority owner of English second-tier soccer team Birmingham City and wants to bring a winning mentality to an underperforming club.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion has partnered with the club’s holding company, U.S.-based Knighthead Capital Management, and becomes chairman of a new advisory board, Brady and Birmingham said Thursday.
“Maybe you are asking, ‘What do you know about English football, Tom?’” Brady said in a club video. “Well, let’s just say I’ve got a lot to learn. But I do know a few things about winning.”
Birmingham said Brady will “apply his extensive leadership experience and expertise across several components of the club.” That includes working alongside the sports science department to advise on health, nutrition and recovery programs.

The Wrexham effect is in full force.
Tom Brady has followed in the footsteps of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney by entering the U.K. soccer business.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion has become a minority owner of Birmingham City, which plays in the second-tier Championship division. Brady entered a partnership with the club’s new owners, Knighthead Capital Management. With the deal, the former NFL star becomes chairman of a new advisory board at St. Andrew’s and, according to Knighthood co-founder Tom Wagner, will “have a direct impact on the club,” which will benefit from his knowledge.

When you think of your typical “SNL” host, you probably imagine movie stars, television actors or music personalities. But did you know more than 30 athletes have hosted NBC’s late night sketch comedy series over the past five decades? Indeed, all of the biggest names in sports have graced Studio 8H for a night of laughs and gags, including Bill Russell, John Madden, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan and Dwayne Johnson.
While the vast majority of hosts from the world of sports have been male, three female athletes have also entertained audiences: Chris Evert, Nancy Kerrigan and Ronda Rousey. The most recent addition to the list was Super Bowl champion Travis Kelce, who took his turn as emcee in March 2023. Scroll through our “SNL” gallery above (or click here for direct access) to see all 35 athletes who hosted “Saturday Night Live.”

On Feb. 1, Tom Brady shared an Instagram post announcing his retirement from the NFL.
“Good morning guys! I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring. For good,” he said in the video. “I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. The entertainment industry collectively raised an eyebrow 16 years ago when CAA decided to go big into sports.
Today, CAA Sports, steered by co-heads Howard Nuchow and Michael Levine, is the agency’s second-most profitable division, behind only film and TV operations combined. Beyond representing athletes and coaches, CAA Sports is active in a range of consulting and rights-brokering activities that have proven extremely lucrative. Moreover, the agency is well-positioned to take advantage of the growth in media opportunities for sports stars.
“The barrier to entry to so much lower now that our athletes have such direct and constant contact with their fans,” says Levine. “The social footprints of our athletes is bigger than those of most media companies. That isn’t lost on them. They’re very smart and they’re very aware of what they at their fingertips. Our athletes have been smart about playing the long game.”
