If you haven’t heard me drone on and on about directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s “The Taint,” then you haven’t spent a lot of time ready my silly words on the internet. I adore the movie with a weird passion that probably makes everyone involved with the flick a little uncomfortable. Which is okay, of course, since I tend to make people uncomfortable on a regular basis. After working on the special effects for Lloyd Kaufman’s “Return to Nuke Em High,” writer/director Drew Bolduc put together a potentially nifty flick called “Science Team.” I’ve waited patiently for this sucker to arrive, and it appears that day is getting closer by the second. In fact, we now have an official trailer to feast our eyes upon. Before we get to that, let’s explore the official synopsis: Chip returns home to find his mother...

If your excitement for writer/director Drew Bolduc’s “Science Team” has dwindled due to a lack of updates, it’s time to inject some extremely sticky excitement into your cinematic backside. The man himself recently sent over a brand new poster for the upcoming sci-fi flick. According to the filmmaker, the movie is almost in the can. Squeal with delight if you want to. I’m trying my best to hold one back right now. In case you’ve forgotten, “Science Team” is the follow-up to Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s cult favorite “The Taint.” If you haven’t seen this delicious slice of low-budget brilliance, then you should seriously consider correcting that problem soon. Very soon. Maybe by this weekend. That’s your homework. This Nsfw teaser should help set the proverbial stage. Here’s what the flick is all about: “Science Team” is a completely independent sci-fi...

Troma Entertainment, in conjunction with C.A.V. Distribution is set to release the Drew Bolduc/Dan Nelson film The Taint onto DVD beginning March 12th. Yeah, you read that right, The Taint. I'm excited about this release personally. I have always been a fan of the Troma movies. It takes me back to a time in film when it was okay to say," what rules? " The Taint actually looks to be a lot of fun, from the retro-like cover to the synopsis, it…...

I’m not joking when I say that directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s deliriously deranged 2010 horror masterpiece “The Taint” is one of my all-time favorite horror movies. The film blew mytiny mind in much the same way “Street Trash” did back in the 80′s. I love it to death — Love It — and I’m always quick to recommend it to those with, shall we say, questionable taste in cinema. Naturally, I’m quite excited to announce that, for one week only, “The Taint” is available to watch for free. That’s a gift, my friends, selfless and pure. Unfamiliar with “The Taint”? Let’s fix that problem: The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists: monsters who want nothing more than to crush women’s heads with rocks (or other objects). When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality,...

Greetings from Tromaville! Troma Entertainment is proud to announce the recent acquisition of the world wide rights for Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s The Taint.
Like all Troma films, The Taint touches on searing sociopolitical themes, in this case misogyny, which is ingrained in American society. The evils of our Viagra and pharmaceutical fueled male population are lambasted and satirized in The Taint.

Troma Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to the postmodern horror movie "The Taint," from directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson. Here's the plot per Troma: The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists. When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality, it is up to Phil OʼGinny and his female friend, Misandra, to combat the horrible evil that is The Taint. The company plans to begin screening it in select theaters this spring. If this Nsfw trailer for the film is anything to go by, "The Taint" is out to shock. Lloyd Kaufman and the gang over at Troma have announced that they have picked up the world wide rights for Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s sleaze-fest The Taint. President of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger Lloyd Kaufman describes The Taint as:
I cannot exactly describe what happened in The Taint because it would not be appropriate for a normal publication or television review. However, I can tell you that it will be a long time before I even consider placing a penis in my mouth again.
I’ve seen The Taint, and believe me it’s not for the faint of heart – it’s misogynistic, bizarre, gory and it’s full of men waving their flaccid penises around! Check out our Nsfw review here, and the official synopsis is below:

The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.
Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.
However, the film portion of the fest opens on the 8th with Stuart Simpson‘s acclaimed Australian gorefest El Monstro Del Mar!, one of the best Russ Meyer/Roger Corman mash-ups with a Down Under twist. Read the Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film review of this gem here.
Other Bad Lit favorites in the lineup are Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s The Taint, which is still completely grossing out audiences on the festival circuit, and The Uh-Oh Show, the splatter-filled horror comedy by the Godfather of Gore himself Herschell Gordon Lewis.

From the Press Release:
It's been called "the key festival for indie cult filmmakers to land distribution deals." Its founder and programmer has been called the "new champion of unabashed B-movie sleaze." The Taint
Stars: Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw | Written and Directed by Drew Bolduc, Dan Nelson
When I was a teenager I was often told about a movie called Bad Taste. It featured people eating puke, men falling off cliffs and their brains hanging out of their heads and then just getting up and putting them back in again. As a horror fan I knew this was a movie I must see and when I finally did it left an impression on me that made me love the small low budget gore movies of that kind so when a movie comes a long that tops that level of gore it really hits the right spot for me.
With The Taint you know straight from the moment you see the DVD title screen that something is crazy about this movie. Then you start the movie and to your surprise the...

The 4th annual Minneapolis Underground Film Festival, which is now open for submissions, is mixing things up a little bit this year. The fest has appointed a new Director, Mark Hanson, to inject some new blood into the proceedings. And if there’s something Muff usually likes, it’s a little blood with their cinema.
It’s not known yet what new visions Hanson will bring to the table, but Muff has previously been known to enjoy the exploitation side of underground filmmaking, as one can tell from last year’s lineup, which included gruesome and spooky fare such as Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s over-the-top offensive The Taint.
The fest also screened the female vampire film Camilla Hyde, directed by Dave de Vries; John Ervin’s Vixen Highway, Carlos Atanes‘ Maximum Shame and Bill Cooper’s Hunting Buddies. But, they also screened lighter documentaries such as Michael Peterson...

There is nothing on this planet that can save you from the awe and power of the nasty, and we mean nasty, indie flick The Taint. It's riddled with moments that will offend just about anyone (except you of course), but you don't have to take our word for it! Watch it yourself. Right Now - and for the rest of June!
Directed by filmmaking duo Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson, The Taint stars Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw, and Kenneth Hall. There's so much we could say right now, but holy shit, does what you're about to see speak for itself.
According to the official website for The Taint, the flick is "a low-budget independent film made in Richmond, Virginia with the help of many incredibly talented local artists and Vcu students. It is a testament to guerilla style filmmaking and a great example of what can be...

On April 22-23, Asbury Park, NJ will once again be taken over by the most toxic film festival in the world! (That’s a good thing.) The 12th annual Tromadance is two days and nights filled with depraved cinematic abuses that will leave you a shattered, emotional wreck. (That’s a good thing, too.)
This year, the fest will screen three feature films, a buttload of shorts, plus two mini-retrospectives.
The features are: 1. Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson‘s gonzo The Taint, a social satire filled with so much gore and sexual degeneracy you might want to wear a raincoat to the screening; 2. Joshua Grannell‘s horror spoof All About Evil, starring Natasha Lyonne and Cassandra Peterson about a psychotic film auteur who kills people on camera; 3. Miguel Angel Vivas’ brutal assault film Kidnapped.

You might remember back on Christmas morning, Andy told us about a vulgar slice of comedic indie horror called The Taint. You can watch the trailer for this glorious film in that article. Now keep in mind, The Taint centers on over-the-top, silly, gross, and outrageous humor. When you have a running shtick that includes the protagonist consistently putting on a different pair of sunglasses in almost every scene, you can’t help but laugh at how much fun these filmmakers are having. Now you can check out The Taint on DVD, digital download, and VHS !!! Yes, a film that clearly is inspired by while also poking fun at the gory and sometimes non-sensical films of the 80′s VHS era. Find out more info about this film beyond the break.

Every couple of months — Heck, every couple of days! — it seems like another nail is driven into the DVD’s plastic slip covered coffin, from major rental store chains going bankrupt to the cutting back of little red envelopes being mailed out. Someday it’s going to get to the point where you won’t even be able to get discs popping out of a little kiosk at the supermarket anymore.
We’re slowly being conditioned to think about movies as a disposable medium. Not as in you’re going to be throwing discs into the trash, but your memory of what you just watched is going to be disposed right out of your brain as the next movie streams right in.
But, if you’re a good cinephile you know that films are art and should be treated as such. (Well, make that they have the capacity to be art.

It never occurred to me that you could make feature length film about all the bad jokes and perverted thoughts you had in high school and yet still have it turn into an enjoyable experience for someone other than your dysfunctional self to watch. The Taint is a constant reminder of our stupidity. Its obsession with all things genital-related is as embarrassing as discovering your pecker for the first to time while watching the S&M comedy Exit to Eden. With all its dicks, jizz, and gay jokes, The Taint comes across as a psychotic, moronic teenage dream, induced from an overdose of video game playing, porn watching and murderous fantasies. Some might call it a nightmare; but I call it a funtime bonanza,...

Although I’m sure most of you couldn’t possibly care any less than you do right now, Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s unimaginably off-kilter horror/comedy “The Taint” was one of my favorite movies of 2010. No joke! Not surprisingly, I’m always looking for an opportunity to tell someone about the flick, especially those who require their cinema to have a bit of an edge. What does all of this mean to you? It’s simple: The masterminds behind “The Taint” have made the film available as a digital download — a High Definition digital download, no less. What’s more, you can even pick up a digital copy of the soundtrack for next to nothing! I’m shimmy shaking in my shoes at the mere thought of such a deal. So what the hell are you waiting for? Swing by “The Taint” store and download a copy for your very own this evening.

My criteria for picking Bad Lit’s Movie of the Year is simple: First, I ask myself, “What movie has stuck in my head the most this year?” Then, whatever movie pops to mind first is my selection. But, at the same time, knowing how I think and all, some consideration goes towards what little-seen film do I think could use a little extra attention and a good publicity boost.
That didn’t happen this year.
Brent Green‘s live-action animated feature film Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then is about as close as an underground film can get to being a blockbuster. First of all, it had a theatrical run in NYC at the IFC Center, then Green and his live performance collaborators have been touring with it all over the country and screening the film to major audiences everywhere it goes. And it deserves every bit of attention and acclaim it has gotten.

Welcome to the last Underground Film Links post of 2010. I started this feature this year and it quickly became one of the most popular destinations on the site. Keep those great links coming in 2011!
Squeaking in under the wire, Wreck and Salvage’s Aaron Valdez comes up with the quote of the year, perhaps the quote of the century: “Who the f*** is Stan Brakhage compared to Charlie Chainsaw?” I’ve long felt the same thing, but have failed to put it quite so eloquently. Just to be clear: I am 100% absolutely not kidding. A big, special Bad Lit congrats to Andrea Grover, the new curator at the Parrish Art Museum in Sag Harbor, NY! I totally screwed up and forgot to post the news earlier that the always incredibly awesome Ata Film & Video Festival in San Francisco had a special touring program screen all the way over in Hong Kong earlier this month.

The bar was set by John Waters. Then it was raised by Lloyd Kaufman. Now, filmmakers Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson are giving everybody a run for their money as the new Kings of the Gross-Out flicks. And that’s with just one film! The Taint is one of the most over-the-top, completely unbelievable, deliriously gonzo parade of filth and destruction ever committed to film. (Or video, as it were.) Plus, it’s all extremely funny as hell.
Waters, in particular, has always made the distinction between “good” bad taste and “bad” bad taste where the “good” stays above the line of mean-spirited-ness. Just about every frame of The Taint challenges that line and, happily, yes stays clearly above it. Like Waters and Kaufman, their unique, modern brand of offensiveness is committed in the name of good fun.
But, what’s truly commendable about these two young filmmakers is the...

Trashy. Filthy. Irredeemable. Disgusting. Shocking. Reprehensible. All of these words have been used to describe the indie flick The Taint and believe you me, every one of them is more than fitting. Be warned now, there's nothing safe for work concerning what you're about to see.
Directed by filmmaking duo Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson, The Taint stars Drew Bolduc, Colleen Walsh, Cody Crenshaw, and Kenneth Hall. There's so much we could say right now but holy shit does what you're about to see speak for itself.

According to the official website for The Taint, the flick is "a low-budget independent film made in Richmond, Virginia with the help of many incredibly talented local artists and Vcu students. It is a testament to guerilla style filmmaking and...

For the past several years, I’ve been chasing Frank Henenlotter. Not literally, mind you, but in a purely cinematic sense. This grossly underrated director introduced me to the weird and wonderful world of absurd horror, a genre that few modern filmmakers seem to fully understand. Henenlotter’s body of work is the stuff of twisted genius, a working man’s David Cronenberg without the artsy subtext and self-serious demeanor. Try as I might, I hadn’t found a modern-day motion picture that filled my misshapen soul with the same deranged excitement I received upon watching “Frankenhooker”, “Brain Damage”, and the “Basket Case” trilogy for the very first time oh-so many years ago. That is, of course, until I watched Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s “The Taint”. If you have an aversion to films that prominently features a plethora of exploding male genitalia, by all means, turn back now.

The Minneapolis Underground Film Festival wrapped up another highly successful edition, its third, on Dec. 5 where it gave out 10 awards — 9 to the films and 1 to an audience member!
First up, Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s horrifically offensive — and absolutely hilarious — gross-out comedy The Taint continues to rack up the accolades when it took home Muff’s biggest award, Best Film, which also earned the filmmakers seven free days of soundstage time courtesy of Random Original Productions. The film previously won a Director’s Choice award at the Sydney Underground Film Festival and the Best Director award at the Syracuse International Horror, Science-Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival.
Other notable wins include Australia’s Carmilla Hyde, directed by Dave de Vries, which took home Best Foreign Film. Dynamite Swine, directed by Mark Poisella, won the Audience Choice award; while Russell Anway’s This Time Tomorrow and Twoey Stein, John Davis and Jack...

As the holiday season begins to ramp up, the 3rd annual Minneapolis Underground Film Festival is going to be spreading some naughty cheer on Dec. 3-5 for a weekend packed with over 16 feature films, several short films, parties and more.
While there are tons of great films to see at the festival, Bad Lit is especially excited by a trio of features that will be screening. First up is a rare U.S. screening of Spanish avant-garde filmmaker Carlos Atanes‘ third feature film Maximum Shame, an intense and surreal journey into an alternate reality on the verge of the destruction of the entire universe. The film combines philosophical ranting, verbal and physical torture, and singing! What more could you ask for?
Another international film that will be playing comes from just over the northern border. It’s Michael Peterson‘s wickedly entertaining Eddies: The Documentary, a truly inspiring film about...

Underground films cleaned up at the newly re-christened Syracuse International Horror, Science-Fiction & Fantasy Film Festival, with Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson’s The Taint and Stuart Simpson‘s El Monstro Del Mar! taking home top awards.
Formerly known as the B-Movie Film Festival, the 11th annual edition of the fest was held on Nov. 20-21 and screened nine genre-themed films, plus a block of shorts.
The Australian El Monstro Del Mar! has been winning awards all over the underground film circuit, including taking home prizes at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, the Sydney Underground Film Festival and the Royal Flush Film Festival. And, thanks to Spooky Movie, which screened the film in October, I was able to see this gem of a monster movie throwback and can say it’s getting all the accolades it deserves.
The Taint has had a more modest success in the underground, but its reputation appears to be growing.

I'm back! I'm not dead, in jail and Horror Yearbook is still alive. I just got out of the hospital and everything should be back to normal starting this week. Make sure you join the Hyb FaceBook page for site updates (like technical difficulties, hospital updates and news) or request to join the Hyb FaceBook Group so you can chat with the cool kids. This week we have an all new Brain Hammer's Picks From the Crypt and I'm sure Kelsey has a new Vampire Diaries recap floating around somewhere. If I ever get caught up, I will have two reviews for movies you don't want to miss, Rare: Exports: A Christmas Tale and The Taint -- a very fun and twisted Troma-esque type movie from the sick minds of Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson.

What is The Taint? This is The Taint:
Teaser Trailer for “The Taint” from Dan Nelson on Vimeo.
From directors Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson: “The water is tainted. The Taint poisons the minds of men. It turns them into raging misogynists: monsters who want nothing more than to Kill Women. When society is transformed into a land of sadistic violence and horrible brutality, it is up to Phil OʼGinny and his female friend, Misandra, to combat the horrible evil that is “The Taint”.
The Taint is an intellectual experience. It is a violent and misogynistic film about violence, misogyny, and entertainment. It features sadistic violence, gratuitous sexual content, and scenes of spellbinding dramatic interest. It also contains more cock explosions than any other movie ever.”
‘Nuff said? Or too much information?

Definitely not for the squeamish, faint at heart, politically correct or those who expect to see production dollars spent on anything other than a series of remarkably lifelike human heads for squishing in a variety of entertaining ways, here come Drew Bolduc and Dan Nelson's The Taint.

The Sydney Underground Film Festival recently wrapped up their 4th annual killer year on Sept. 11 with nearly half of all their screenings completely selling out.
Awards this year were given out in three sections. First, there were three Director’s Choice Awards chosen by the festival. Then, there are a selection of Jury Awards for categories such as Innovative Narrative, Unique Aesthetic, Provocative and more. The jury consisted of filmmakers Dean Francis and Tom Cowan, and artist Mark Wotherspoon.
Lastly, each short film block of the festival had an Audience Award given to a single film in that block. However, there were also special notations given to two films that received the most and the second most votes total of all short films in all blocks.
The full lineup of winners is below. Some of the big winners were Stuart Simpson‘s El Monstro Del Mar!, which won the Jury’s Choice Award.

The 4th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival, which runs for three days on Sept. 9-11, will screen about 10 features from all over the world and a veritable ton of short films from even further out there.
The fest will open with the latest documentary by a Hollywood icon. It’s Oliver Stone’s South of the Border, which has the director meeting with South American politicians and dignitaries. (The film opened to mixed reviews here in the States earlier this year.) Also screening is Trash Humpers, the latest film by indie rabble-rouser Harmony Korine, which has been confounding audiences on the indie film fest circuit, and Gaspar Noe’s Enter the Void, which has been earning rave reviews.
The rest of the features in the lineup are an eclectic, oddball concoction, including Mladen Djordjevic‘s Serbian atrocity Life and Death of a Porno Gang, Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth’s twisted Netherlands tale Meat,...
