The past year has seen Eva Longoria direct the Oscar nominated Flamin’ Hot, form the Banijay-backed Hyphenate Media Group with Cris Abrego, and be awarded $50 million for her advocacy and charity efforts by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. That’s along with the Desperate Housewives alum’s other day jobs on upcoming seasons of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Apple TV+’s Land of Women, and more. A dedicated Disruptor from the drop, true multi-hyphenate Longoria wants to see a shift in Hollywood, and she has the pillars of demographics and demand in her sights.
Deadline: You’ve touted Hyphenate as a production banner, a business incubator, a talent agency and a bottom-line centered wake-up call. How does that mix work in the Hollywood of today?

Eva Longoria is putting a lot of thought into who she surrounds herself with in movies and TV shows.
The actress-filmmaker recently admitted to People magazine that she only wants “to work with people I love,” naming friends and fellow actresses Kerry Washington and Gabrielle Union as an example.
“Life’s too short to work with assholes, and I’d much rather be surrounded by people I love, and creatives that I respect,” Longoria continued, adding that she uses “reverse engineering” to decide what to work on next.
The Flamin’ Hot star and director explained that before she even seeks out new projects, she considers who she wants to collaborate with first and later finds something that everyone can agree on.
“It’s the people and their vision and what they bring to it more than the actual project” that makes her want to be on set,” Longoria said.

Italy’s Fandango will be launching sales at the Cannes Marché du Film on “The Sleeper,” a doc directed by Spain’s Alvaro Longoria about a lost Caravaggio painting depicting a thorn-crowned Christ that’s been making global headlines and will soon be displayed at the Prado museum in Madrid.
“The Sleeper” is structured like a thriller in which the viewer is guided by art dealer Jorge Coll on the tortuous journey of this piece of art, titled “Ecce Homo.” After hanging in the living room of an ordinary Spanish home for decades, the painting was attributed to the circle of the 17th-century Spanish artist José de Ribeira when it was offered for sale at a Madrid auction house in April 2021. It almost sold for just €1,500 before something clicked, prompting experts in Spain and Italy to reexamine the work.

Becky G took the Oscars stage to perform “The Fire Inside” from the Eva Longoria-directed film Flamin’ Hot.
Diane Warren wrote the song for the film about Richard Montañez, the Frito-Lay janitor who became an executive after inventing Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Ahead of the ceremony at the Dolby Theater, Longoria talked about the excitement her directorial debut getting some recognition at the Academy Awards.
“I have goosebumps. I can’t believe it. I can because Diane Warren wrote the song, so she’s a genius and Becky G is a genius,” Longoria told Laverne Cox on Live from E! red carpet coverage. “Their performance tonight… You will never be more proud to be a Latino and a Chicano, but Becky’s thought and love that she put into this performance tonight is going to blow everybody away. She has some special guest from Inglewood.”
She continued, “We don’t ever get this platform.
