In 2006, you could scarcely go a day without someone shouting, “This is Sparta!” in your face. The iconic line by Gerard Butler’s King Leonidas in Zack Snyder’s 300 became a battle cry for anyone looking to punt an irritant off a cliff. Out of sight. Out of mind. According to sources, a 300 TV series is developing at Warner Bros. TV. It’s early days for what Deadline says could be a prequel to the 2006 film, and fans are already theorizing about the plot, which is unknown. While deals are not in place, we hear Zack and Deborah Snyder could reunite with Gianni Nunnari, Mark Canton, Bernie Goldmann, and Wesley Coller of Stone Quarry for the newly announced project.

Writer, director, and producer Zack Snyder has become forever entwined with comic book cinema, with many devoted fans knowing him best for his work with the DC universe, but once upon a time he directed a very different kind of comic book movie. Nearly 20 years ago, back in 2006, a little movie called "300" blew everyone's minds and kicked itself into the pop culture consciousness, teaching us all about the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, where King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and his 300 Spartans held off a massive Persian army under King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro). Sure, it wasn't super historically accurate because it was based on the graphic novel by "Sin City" artist and scribe Frank Miller (with colors by Lynn Varley), but it was impossibly cool. It inspired all kinds of tributes and spoofs and even a spin-off film, "300: Rise of an Empire," which showed the naval side of the battle,...

Charlie Hunnam is set to make a return to series television. The former Sons of Anarchy star is set to play the lead in Prime Video’s highly anticipated Criminal, which is based on a series of graphic novels by Ed Brubaker. The series returns Hunnam to the world of organized crime, a genre that’s paid nice dividends for him in between Sons of Anarchy and The Gentlemen. According to Deadline, Hunnam is set to play the lead, “Leo, a brilliant master thief who sees all the angles, and specializes in plans with no guns and no violence. Like a chess player, Leo thinks three moves ahead. Other crooks think he’s a coward, especially compared to his father Tommy, who went to jail for murdering the most feared man in the city, Teeg Lawless.”

TV takes on familiar IP isn’t new these days, although the quality of those series runs the gamut. For every show like Prime Video‘s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” and “Dead Ringers,” there are others, like Paramount+‘s “Sexy Beast,” that are utterly forgettable. In short, IP-turned-tv varies in quality, but that’s not stopping Warner Bros. from remaking one of Zack Snyder‘s biggest films into series form.

Arguably the most popular video game voice actor out there, Troy Baker has one of the most unique portfolios in the industry. On one hand, he has starred in epic video-game series such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, and Death Stranding.
On the other, he has voiced characters such as The Batman, Joker, Hawkeye and even Loki in various media forms. The Joel Miller of The Last of Us video game franchise, Baker was also involved in the TV series and played the minor role of James. While the leading role eventually went to Pedro Pascal, who did as good a job as one can expect, the Chilean superstar was not Baker’s first choice for the role.

Zack Snyder’s take on the DC superheroes divided fans for a long time before the universe finally came to an end. Snyder fans loved his characters above all others but many DC fans pointed out the lack of comical accuracy in the Rebel Moon director’s projects. Snyder’s take on Batman during a recent podcast has fans convinced that he may not have understood the comic character very well.

There have been a few times where Snyder’s films have been watered down when they hit theaters. Moviegoers often see a slightly shorter version of Snyder movies than the movies the director envisioned in his head. This has resulted in Snyder releasing director’s cuts, which he’s become known for over the years. The director’s cuts show the actor’s full vision for his projects in all of its glory, with minimal or no interference from the studio.

Henry Cavill’s Superman might have had a very short tenure, and with the Dceu closing out, it seems highly unlikely that we will see the character again. However, audiences, creators, and some critics alike enjoyed the fresh, more personal take that Zack Snyder had when it came to Superman, as opposed to the Big Blue Boy Scout image the character had boasted.

Despite being fired as X-Men '97 showrunner (the details are still sketchy) shortly before the series premiered on Disney+, Beau DeMayo has remained active on social media, sharing intriguing insights into the development of the animated revival show and revealing some of his key influences.
DeMayo has previously explained how the iconic "Superman takes flight" sequence from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel inspired a similar moment from episode 6 featuring Storm regaining her powers, and has now revealed that a different scene may have "subconsciously influenced" Rogue attacking the villainous Bastion in the recent season finale.
This was yet another standout moment for Rogue, who unleashed the full extent of her power while channelling the pain and rage she felt after losing Gambit in the Genosha massacre
I was likely subconsciously influenced by this when writing the #xmen97 finale beat of Rogue punching Bastion. That’s not Superman hammering Zod.

Martin Scorsese is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Hollywood, and even at the age of 81 is churning out pieces of art. The filmmaker last helmed the crime-Western Killers of the Flower Moon, and is already gearing up for his next project. He remains one of the few individual voices still making films today.
Scorsese’s statements about cinema and the way superhero films were taking over the medium had drawn a lot of flack from fans. The director’s comparison of Marvel movies to theme parks sparked outrage as well as a popular meme template. However, even he would agree to one scene from Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel as cinema.

For those lucky enough to have experienced this, think back to how you first managed to get your dream job. The painstaking process of gathering enough relevant experience over the years, looking for open positions, and sending out résumés to whomever will take them -- not to mention all the rejections along the way -- can turn even the best and most optimistic of us into cynical grumps. Actors, for all the glitz and glamor we see from the outside looking in, oftentimes have to suffer through similar moments of heartbreak over and over again. Not all actors, however, are Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

With all of its growing popularity among the world’s viewers, Netflix is still not having the best times right now as its biggest premieres turned out to be the streaming’s biggest disasters ever seen.
It all started even back in 2023, when Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire hit the platform in December, and now it seems like Netflix’s highly anticipated flicks are jeopardized by the epic space opera franchise’s curse.
Though Snyder’s flops sank into oblivion as soon as they left the streaming’s top 10 chart, their fate is nonetheless repeated by a brand new sci-fi movie that, despite its reign in the top chart, appears to be even worse.

Would you like to enjoy the same widely praised and adored project twice in the entertainment industry? The buzz in Tinseltown says ‘yes’ as the WB is reportedly bringing the TV adaptation of Zack Snyder’s cinematic masterpiece, 300.
This 2006 epic historical action film, which became the bedrock of Snyder’s long and distinguished career, is not just known for its stylized combat sequences and heroic tale of the Spartans, but also for garnering the admiration of none other than Tom Cruise.

Throughout the years, DC’s Justice League has remained a focal point of discussions and debates. From its inception to the present day, the film has consistently drawn attention, largely due to the tumultuous events that unfolded behind the scenes during its production.
The Justice League | Warner Bros. Pictures
Surprisingly, where a faction of individuals once trolled Zack Snyder for his initial vision of the Justice League. However, the tides now seemed to have shifted, and now these very same critics find themselves applauding George Miller for embracing a concept similar to Snyder’s original vision.
Zack Snyder’s Original Idea for Justice League
The chaotic saga surrounding DC’s Justice League is bound to etch itself into history. Zack Snyder’s involvement with WB’s cinematic universe, his departure, and subsequent return to deliver a Snyder Cut for his fans on demand have all contributed to the film’s behind-the-scenes drama.

We've been hearing whispers about a potential small-screen 300 spin-off for years, and it seems a series may finally be moving forward - but it more than likely will not be based on Frank Miller's graphic novel or the movie adaptations that followed.
According to scooper Mttsh, a "300 TV series is officially in development."
We don't have any more to go on for now, but THR recently reported that Zack Snyder, who helmed the 2006 movie, had regained the rights to Blood and Ashes, which was originally pitched to Warner Bros. as a follow-up to 300 and its sequel, Rise of an Empire.
The story, which Snyder began writing while working on Army of the Dead, moves away from the Spartans to focus on the relationship between Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion.
“We got the rights back so we can make if we want it,” Snyder told the trade in a 2023 interview.

Ted Sarandos claims that the huge success of last year’s Barbie and Oppenheimer could have been replicated on Netflix.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos has sat down with The New York Times for a comprehensive interview and among other things, claimed that the huge audience numbers that drove last year’s Barbenheimer sensation could have happened on Netflix.
Hmmm.
When asked whether those kinds of big tentpole sensations were simply outside of Netflix’s ‘wheelhouse’, Sarandos responded by stating that “both of those movies would be great for Netflix. They definitely would have enjoyed just as big an audience on Netflix, and so I don’t think there’s any reason to believe that certain kinds of movies do or don’t work.”
Whilst Sarandos’ answer holds some truth, there are of course some things that are left unsaid.

Henry Cavill’s love for video games is pretty well documented, as the actor almost missed out on playing Superman in Zack Snyder’s Dceu following his commitment to World of Warcraft. But his tenure as the Man of Steel wasn’t the lone huge gig that pushed Cavill to the top, as the Argylle star also got to headline Geralt in the adaptation of one of his favorite games, The Witcher.
With the actor now set to star and produce an adaptation of Warhammer 40000, fans have been long imploring for a Cavill-led World of Warcraft, which he deemed one of his favorites. And the recent concept trailer further proves why the former DC star is perfect for the job.

James Wan's recent sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, marked the end of what came to be known as the Dceu era, and as we head towards James Gunn and Peter Safran's Dcu relaunch, we've decided to rank all 15 movies in the franchise.
Warner Bros.' attempt to establish a shared movie universe in the same vein as The MCU began with Man of Steel in 2013, and despite some bright spots and box office successes along the way, most would agree that it never really took flight - at least not to the level DC fans were hoping for.

The Anya Taylor-Joy starrer Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga was released earlier this week to positive responses. Though the film seemed to have had a less-than-stellar opening at the box office, most fans seemed to have been impressed with George Miller’s return to the Wasteland. The film is a prequel/spinoff to Mad Max: Fury Road.
Taylor-Joy replaced Charlize Theron in the prequel as a younger Imperator Furiosa. The film follows Furiosa’s childhood in the Green Place and her eventual admission into Immortan Joe’s Citadel. However, a much younger Furiosa was played by Alyla Browne, whose features were reportedly fused with Taylor-Joy’s with AI.

Daniel Warren Johnson’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth is one of the most intriguing Elseworlds stories to come out of DC. The writer is known for his work with Transformers and Marvel’s Beta Ray Bill, which have also received high praise from fans and critics alike.

He who watches the watchmen must light the lantern. Damon Lindelof, who ran HBO’s adaptation of Watchmen, will now take charge of a Green Lantern series titled Lanterns. And he’s not the only major name attached.
As James Gunn posted on social media over the weekend: “Yes, it’s true. The Lanterns Dcu series is putting together a crack team of writers, based on a wonderful pilot script and bible by Chris Mundy, Tom King, and Damon Lindelof. A hearty welcome to Chris and @damonlindelof as they join the DC Studios family.”
Outside of Watchmen, Lindelof was of course a key contributor to Lost. As Gunn noted, Lanterns will also feature work by Ozark’s Chris Mundy and DC comics staple Tom King. Others that have been tied to the show include The Strain’s Justin Britt-Gibson, The Penguin’s Brennah Gibson and Animal Kingdom’s Vanessa Baden Kelly.

While Gunn gave a hearty welcome to both Lindelof and Mundy, his comments against the Lost creator resurfaced on social media. Gunn had some scathing remarks about Lindelof for ruining the ending of the 2004 series.

It’s not uncommon for shows to lose their spark when they go on for too long, and this is pretty apparent in most CW shows, especially the Arrowverse, which kickstarted with Arrow in 2012. According to rumors, James Gunn will make Green Arrow a part of his Justice League team in the Dcu. The character has a decent fanbase, thanks to Stephen Amell’s eight-season run as Oliver Queen in The CW show, Arrow. DC’s My Adventures With Superman is returning for a second season and the makers seemed to have pulled all the stops to make it a bigger and better follow-up to the hit show. The animated series stars Jack Quaid as Superman and Alice Lee voicing Lois Lane. The show also sees Jimmy Olsen as a significant part of the trio.
While the show has references to multiple other DC characters and artifacts, it has yet to feature one of the IP’s most popular characters Batman. Not only did Kurosawa's masterful direction alter and revolutionize the way action sequences would be shot, but the premise became a reliable and lasting template that multiple other filmmakers would employ in the ensuing decades.
