In 1967, Agnes Moorehead made history as the first woman (and second performer) to receive Primetime Emmy nominations in two categories at once. By winning for her work on “The Wild Wild West” while also competing as a star of “Bewitched,” she blazed a trail for 55 other actresses who have since been given double or even triple chances at Emmy glory. Scroll through our chronological photo gallery to find out who else is included in this special group.
Over the years, 14 women have simultaneously competed for two acting Emmys at multiple points in their careers. The overall record for most entries on this or the corresponding male list belongs to Cloris Leachman, who was doubly recognized seven different times between 1973 and 2006.

“This is a painful and crucial moment for all of us who are Jews and who love Israel, and it’s not a time to stay silent,” declared Ari Emanuel, the CEO of sports and entertainment company Endeavor and one of Hollywood’s most outspoken voices in the fight against antisemitism, in a fiery speech as he accepted the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s highest honor, the Humanitarian Award, at the organization’s National Tribute Gala fundraiser Wednesday evening. Emanuel, who is Jewish, then went on to slam, at length, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his handling of the Israel-Gaza war. Many attendees applauded, but dozens of others stormed out of the room in fury, and others still booed, as Emanuel opined: “For the good of Israel, he should go.”
Emanuel stated unequivocally that Hamas’ attacks of Oct. 7 sparked the war, and that Israel was well within its rights to...

It seems today that all you see is cartoon shows with little continuity.
Nevertheless, Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy, as obscene and silly as it may be, decides to switch up its “canon” every so often. Whether it’s due to the passing of a cast member, attempts at a ratings stunt, or (unintentional) acts of progressiveness for its characters’ development, the Griffin family’s world within Quahog for the past 25 years of airing has only expanded.
Here are some of the most significant canon changes in Family Guy history.
Revival With Yolo Energy
Due to low ratings, Family Guy faced the cancellation gun early into its lifespan. But in its death, the great bird-is-the-word got around via DVD sales and rerun airings on Adult Swim. Thus, in its rebirth on Fox in 2005, the show became cruder, bloodier, and edgier than ever, both in its art style and spirit. The...

Despite being one of the most recognizable animated sitcoms on TV, Patrick Warburton revealed that his parents have always absolutely hated “Family Guy” — so much so, that his mother once tried to cancel the show entirely.
“They hate it even more today than they did 25 years ago,” Warburton said in front of a crowd at PaleyFest on Friday.
The panel — which also included creator Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Arif Zahir, Jennifer Tilly and showrunners Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin — was discussing their favorite moments from the show’s 22 seasons on Fox. That’s when Warburton admitted that his family’s spiritual values don’t quite align with the content featured in the adult cartoon.
“You come from a fairly religious family. Are they all huge ‘Family Guy’ fans?” Appel asked initially, which led Warburton to recall his childhood growing up in a devout Christian household.
“Thomas Merton was [my Dad’s] spiritual advisor,...

Patrick Warburton has voiced Joe Swanson on “Family Guy” since the show’s first season 25 years ago, but the role has never exactly gotten his family’s seal of approval. During a recent PaleyFest LA event celebrating “Family Guy’s” 25th anniversary (via People magazine), Warburton revealed that his parents hate the Seth MacFarlane-created animated comedy and their disdain for the show went so far that Warburton’s mom once tried to get “Family Guy” canceled.
“They hate the show even more today than they did 25 years ago,” Warburton said. “My father was in a monastery for three months. He almost became a monk. … My mother [went] around the neighborhood when I was 13 years old passing out pamphlets on the sins of masturbation, [which] did not get me into the cool crowd. So they hate the show.”

“Family Guy” creator and executive producer Seth MacFarlane shared insight at PaleyFest on whether or not the Griffin family will ever make it to the big screen in a full-length feature film. The show’s cast also brought the house down Friday with a live table read of upcoming episode “The Edible Arrangement” and nine performances of musical classics from the series as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Without giving too much of the goodness away, the episode the cast did a table read for — written by Travis Bowe — is titled “The Edible Arrangement.” It’s centered on Lois and Stewie bonding after consuming a few of Brian’s weed-infused gummies. The episode features the first time Lois has ever heard Stewie talk, which provides Stewie with the perfect opportunity to tell her all about his old plot to murder her.

"Familly Guy" is more than a show at this point. 25 years into its long run on television, it's a straight-up, locked-in part of the larger pop culture fabric. It's similar to "The Simpsons" in that way. But as the show is in the midst of its 22nd season, with a 23rd on the way, are we getting close to wrapping it up with the Griffin family? Creator Seth MacFarlane certainly doesn't seem to think there is any good reason to end it any time soon.
The Los Angeles Times recently caught up with MacFarlane, as well as the showrunners and members of the cast, to celebrate 25 years of "Family Guy." MacFarlane, who voices a number of characters on the show including Peter, Stewie, and Quagmire, among others, was asked whether he believes the show could run for another 25 years. Family Guy may have a whopping 25 years (and 22 seasons) under its belt, but according to creator Seth MacFarlane, the animated comedy isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
In a recent interview with L.A. Times, MacFarlane gave his two cents about the show’s potential future. When asked if the show could last another 25 years, the executive producer (who also voices many of the show’s main characters including Peter, Brian and Stewie Griffin) seemed open to it. As long as the audience doesn’t “get sick of it.”

Exclusive: A week after veteran talent agent Jed Abrahams resigned as Kmr Talent’s SVP and head of the agency’s New York office, he has joined Los Angeles-based management and production company The Rosenzweig Group (aka The Rose Group) as a talent manager. He will open and head an office in New York, making The Rosenzweig Group — founded in 2018 by Marni Rosenzweig — officially bicoastal.
After a brief career as an actor, Abrahams transitioned to talent representation, spending the past two decades as an agent. He started at Henderson/Hogan Agency, Stewart Talent and The Talent House before his 10-year run as SVP and Head of New York at Kmr Talent.
Clients joining Abrahams at The Rosenzweig Group include Broadway actors Eden Espinosa (Lempicka), Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (Chicago), and Kecia Lewis, currently starring in Alicia Keys’ musical Hell’s Kitchen. Also joining Abrahams at Trg is Aaron Serotsky and Jay Wilkison (Younger), a series regular on the upcoming Amazon series Clean Slate.
“After 20 years of agenting, I am thrilled to discover a newfound passion and excitement, as I begin to zoom in and have a more hands-on approach to a small, select list of uniquely talented artists,” Abrahams said. “When presented the opportunity to join forces with Marni Rosenzweig, I was over the moon at the prospect of collaborating with an undeniably seasoned and accomplished manager, leader of such a respected company.”
The Rosenzweig Group clients include Alex Borstein, Sandra Bernhard, Miranda Rae Mayo, Patrick J. Adams and Glynn Turman among others.
“Jed is the perfect fit for our company,” Rosenzweig said. “He is a well-respected, veteran talent agent who will excel as a manager. His work ethic and passion for actors and all creatives is unparalleled and we are excited to welcome his impressive clients to our now bicoastal company.”
Kmr Talent’s March 22 move to suspend its SAG-AFTRA franchise has triggered an exodus of agents who have since joined other companies or opened their own shops.

In March 2019, Disney completed their purchase of Fox, effectively enacting one of the largest studio mergers in Hollywood history. This came after Disney had already made a major purchase from Marvel Comics a decade earlier, as well as the buyout of Lucasfilm in 2012. As of this writing, Disney sits on top of what might be the largest film library in Hollywood. On Jan. 31, 1999, Fox introduced Peter Griffin and Co. to America as Seth MacFarlane’s animated Family Guy series premiered. The show, canceled after its third season, was then revived and is now a broadcast staple in its 22nd season. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
If one is good and two are better, then surely three, four and five can’t miss. Or so the thinking goes at Fox, home of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and three midseason primetime animated comedies. Indeed, the third show, The PJs, is off to a good start, and the fourth, Family Guy, shows similar promise. (The fifth, Futurama, is not due for a couple of months.)
Family Guy is bright, entertaining and often witty and warm. In its post-Super Bowl slot Sunday, the show will receive high exposure. Viewers who develop an appetite for it, though, have to wait until March for the next episode.
