In this edition of THR Frontrunners, the cast and creatives of CBS’ hit comedy series Young Sheldon joined Tyler Coates for a conversation about the seventh and final season at a live event hosted by the San Vicente Bungalows in Los Angeles. Stars Zoe Perry, Lance Barber and Annie Potts appeared with executive producers and co-creators Chuck Lorre and Steve Molaro and executive producer Steve Holland.
Young Sheldon, which debuted in 2017, starred Iain Armitage as the title character in the origin story of Jim Parsons’ Big Bang Theory character. While the show was centered around the gifted child (and narrated by Parsons’ adult character), Lorre says the focus quickly became on Sheldon’s family — particularly the parents. “It very quickly became an ensemble, a family show about how this little boy changes the family and the family impacts on him,” said Loore. “It got a lot richer and warmer as...

Young Sheldon’s TV run came to its end several weeks ago, leaving its titular character at the point of his departure from the family house in Texas to continue his studies in California, though such a happy ending coded plot twist wasn’t a real solid reason for ditching the show.
Before the seventh season finale aired back in May, Young Sheldon actress Annie Potts, who in the series portrayed Sheldon’s grandma Meemaw, heavily criticized CBS for letting the show go, considering it was one of the network’s most successful projects to-date.
Now that CBS’ viewership data officially went out to the public a while ago, it is indeed clear that there was zero need for Young Sheldon’s cancellation, even considering that its spinoff is already on its way.

By 1984, films like “Jaws” (1975), “Star Wars” (1977) “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981) and “E.T.” (1982) had firmly established the summer blockbuster craze, with Steven Spielberg productions leading the way. On June 8, 1984, two films were released simultaneously that continued the summer blockbuster trend, while also establishing new trends with their combination of horror/comedy and fresh marketing and merchandising strategies. Unsurprisingly, one film was produced by Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, and his “Gremlins” battled for the number one box office spot with familiar faces from “Saturday Night Live” who were now “Ghostbusters.” Their quotable scripts and at-the-time unique blend of humor and gore have had long-lasting effects on the film industry and on pop culture that continue to resonate four decades later. Read on for more about the 40-year anniversary of both “Gremlins” and “Ghostbusters.”

When The Big Bang Theory first aired, its target audience was about the same age as the main characters. Ten seasons passed, the fans of the show have matured along with the characters. The writers of Tbbt, Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, along with the CBS network, decided that the audience would watch the spin-off about Sheldon's childhood in Texas in the 1980s along with the main show. And the audience did watch.
In the last episode of Young Sheldon, the main character goes to Caltech. One of the teachers asks him if he is lost, to which Sheldon replies: "No. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be." You could say the same thing about the end of the show.

Young Sheldon’s seven-season-long television run is over after the show’s finale hit CBS a few weeks ago, and though The Big Bang Theory’s prequel got a relatively happy ending, it still turned out somewhat bittersweet. Many long-standing fans of the original show definitely saw it coming, but George Sr.’s tragic death in the final season’s episode 13 still shattered some hearts.
After all, Young Sheldon made it pretty clear that George had suffered a fatal heart attack, though one of the show’s actresses recently took to the social media to reveal her own version of why the series let the character go.
As fans were quick to get to the internet expressing their feelings about Young Sheldon’s finale and especially George’s death, Annie Potts also decided to step in. In the show, the actress has been portraying Mary’s mother and Sheldon’s...

Just like people were skeptical about Young Sheldon back in 2017 when the show had just premiered, they are now skeptical about another spinoff to extend the same universe. Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage has only gotten its official title, but people are ready to dismiss it months before it airs.
The reason for such an intense reaction may seem to be obvious, as people waved goodbye to Young Sheldon less than a week ago and still aren’t over it. However, there is more to fans disappointment than a bittersweet finale of their favorite sitcom.
What Is the New Young Sheldon Spinoff About?
The new spinoff will continue roughly in the timeline where Young Sheldon ends. Whether the showrunners decide to do a time jump to give the characters a moment to mourn the loss of George Cooper Sr. or pick up exactly where Young Sheldon left off is unknown,...

Young Sheldon, the spin-off prequel series centered around the childhood of The Big Bang Theory character Sheldon Cooper, has recently concluded with 7 successful seasons. It explored the iconic Tbbt character’s past and shed light on several events that were hinted at in the main show.
Surprisingly, the prequel show took a big challenge when they introduced characters exclusively for the show who were entirely absent in Tbbt. However, most of the fans were shocked to realize that Dr. Sturgis was not even mentioned in Tbbt’s finale even after playing a key role in shaping Sheldon Cooper’s celebrated career.

The Big Bang Theory owes much of its success to Jim Parsons’ iconic portrayal of Sheldon Cooper, making him a memorable character. The actor’s unique portrayal of the socially awkward character was combined perfectly with his physical comedy and witty one-liners. Sheldon Cooper became an endearing character, and fans were heartbroken when the sitcom show came to an end after 12 long seasons.

This article contains spoilers for the Young Sheldon series finale.
After witnessing George Sr.’s (Lance Barber) death in the last moments of the penultimate episode, fans knew that the Young Sheldon finale was going to hurt. However, this two-part finale is also by far the most well-written and beautiful hour of the series.
It’s a showcase of grief and healing, featuring each family member dealing with this monumental loss in a different way with Sheldon (Iain Armitage) at the center of it all as we say goodbye to the Cooper family. Ending a series is never an easy task, especially when it includes a fan-favorite character’s death, but somehow, the writers have made sure the story ends on a hopeful note.

Cancelations suck, and the 2024 season has been particularly brutal.
Long-running favorites such as Station 19, Blue Bloods, and Young Sheldon are going off the air, leaving fans brokenhearted -- and actors out of a steady gig.
Sometimes, actors land a new gig right away, and other times, they struggle to find new work. The cancellations were recently announced, so not everyone has had the opportunity to move on to a new project yet, but there are some interesting things in the works.
Having a Long-Running Series is a Double-Edged Sword
When actors land a gig that lasts for half a decade or more, they're guaranteed work for as long as the series lasts.
That allows them to become household names but also can make it harder for them to get new jobs in the future. For example, Henry Winkler was so associated with The Fonz that when Happy Days ended,...

The upcoming finale of Young Sheldon has been emotional for its cast. And not necessarily for the reason you’d expect.
Annie Potts (who plays Meemaw on the series) and Zoe Perry (Mary Cooper) visited The Talk and admitted the conclusion is bringing a mix of feelings, particularly for 71-year-old Potts.
“I mean, I love the cast,” said Potts. “Wonderful character to play. But hey, I’m old. This could be my last rodeo. I mean, I thought about that, though, panicked me a little bit. These things are hard to come by. I’ve had a couple, but they were all tough. So yeah.”
Asked whether she’s taken any memorabilia from the set, Potts pointed a finger. “Zoe stole some stuff!”
Perry confessed. “I may have taken a little watch…my husband said, ‘Will you please bring that back?’ I was like, ‘The watch, really?’ I’m constantly fidgeting with it,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Young Sheldon Season 7, Episode 10, “Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage.”] Young Sheldon is a series that isn’t unfamiliar with guest stars, but the show welcomed a particularly glitzy one in the latest episode, “Community Service and the Key to a Happy Marriage,” as Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer stepped in to play a probation officer assigned to Meemaw’s (Annie Potts) case after her backroom gambling ring was busted. Forced to fulfill community service hours, she’s sent to work at the church under Mary’s (Zoe Perry) supervision, but she’s not too enthusiastic about the gig, getting George (Lance Barber) to intervene in hopes of lightening her load. The conversation backfires for Meemaw’s workload, but was a welcome one for Barber. Robert Voets/CBS “I’ll pipe up first just to say how jealous I was because I didn’t get to [shoot] anything [with Octavia],” Perry tells...

Young Sheldon had a good run. The CBS sitcom and The Big Bang Theory prequel starring Iain Armitage, Annie Potts, and co. is now wrapping with its seventh and final season. Undoubtedly, it is much heavier on the cast to say goodbye to the show that was started about seven years ago, focusing on the younger version of Sheldon Cooper.
