Although I see why some people like the US version better, I still like the UK version better. the US version has a bigger budget and because it's not on public television they can give a big grand prize. Yes that is exciting, and in the US version they make a much bigger deal about the reunion and the final showdown. I'm guessing as The UK version picks up steam it will get more of a live audience connection, which it needs. However I found that even though the UK queens had enough cattiness, insecurity and shadiness to keep it spicy, overall they weren't as mean, backstabbing and manipulative as the US show contestants get. I honestly saw more of the sisterhood in the UK version than I see in most of the US seasons.

Series 2 is Killing it!

OMG! Series 2 is sooooooo much better than series 1. I didn't even finish series 1. Lawrence Chaney is just BRILLIANT! I absolutely LOOOOVE her! She is the best contestant on any season of Drag Race UK or US. I hope she wins.
I normally hate stuff like this

Nothing like Charlie Hides I can tell you now.

Absolutely loved the first episode. Witty, snarky, vulgar, brilliant. I always found the humour in the US Drag Race a little "soft", perhaps since I am British I much prefer the dark twisted humour of UK comedians than ones across the pond. The queens themselves are a great assortment so you're bound to find a favourite. Can't wait for the Snatch Game!
Showcasing UK talent!

There's a definite contrast to the US version, which is a very good thing. No one wants to see the same show done again. The UK scene is funnier and drier than the American one. Some of the queens may not be as polished but what they lack in aesthetic, they make up for in being utterly depraved and hilarious!
A breath of fresh air

With American Drag Race crashing and burning in recent seasons, this is such a wonderful gem. The British queens are funnier, more creative and far less catty that the Americans, which, in my opinion, makes for a much more enjoyable time. It's a shame that the challenges aren't more interesting, but I guess you have to start with the basics in the first season. It's a great start and I can't wait to see more!
So funny

Serving british realness

British drag comes from a completely different place than american drag, and this show is showcasing what british drag queens bring to the table. They may not have the aesthetics.... But they sure as hell can perform. They are artisic, creative and fun. I love it!
Funny, uplifting, entertaining. Thumbs up.

I honestly never thought I'd end up watching this show, let alone becoming somewhat addicted to it. It's about the only show on The BBC that isn't afraid to be a bit naught, it's crass, it's loud, it's raucous, it doesn't hold back, however it's funny, well meaning, and there seems to be a genuine sense of camaraderie.
I've worked my way through, by seasons three and four, it really does kick into gear, it just gets better and better.
The show is definitely having a huge effect on The BBC, you can't turn it on without seeing one of The Queens, and why not, they are a super talented bunch of individuals.
Unexpectedly brilliant.
9/10.

RuPaul's Begin Again Race
edicionccq22 November 2019
After eleven years delivering year after year minimum 1 season of the regular show in U.S.A. RuPaul is now extending his reign to the United Kingdom with his new version of the Drag Race reality show.
The UK version ended his first season, and we have our first UK Drag Queen superstar after eight episodes and they are all worthy. The queens they select are stunning, and most of them are amazingly talented. The top 3 hasn't been so perfect since S6.
I didn't get most of the jokes or slangs because I barely can understand the American accent but we still have time to catch up. the show is already renewed for an S2 and it will be excellent.
My only complaint is the UK version is the exact same format as the USA version except for the challenges being focused on British things. I was hoping for distinct challenges or at least a different finale challenge but it's okay, we are just getting started.

Not as good as the US version

All that aside, I'm going to venture this was really filmed in LA. It would be so much cheaper to fly the queens to LA as well as a few guest judges (that may not already be in LA on other business). I think if I were making decisions at World of Wonder (production company) I'd stick with the infrastructure already in place in LA and pretend were in London. Just sayin'.....
God it's unbearable

Skip season one. Go straight to season two
marryiolbhjiiwwa9 March 2021
Season 2 is better than season 1. Not a joke, just a fact. These queens have so much personality and this season all round has been more entertaining and enjoyable. Also Bimini Bon Boulash is the best thing to come out of drag race since season 6/7 of the original show.
This show is for everyone! I should have watched it sooner.

I didn't watch this show for a long time as I'm not typically a reality show fan. The adverts made the show look great in that it was an amazing visual of people looking incredible walking down a runway and I applauded the uplifting of drag queens I just wasn't a fashion or reality show person. The reviews I've read don't seem to get across how much this show is so much more than fashion and runways. I binged all 13 seasons, all of RPUK, All-stars and celebrity RPDR and I'm still looking for wants next. I instantly became addicted (in a great way). This show is so UPLIFTING. It covers every insecurity people may have, it covers really important issues (including politics in an important and easy to understand way) that need to be talked about more and the show creates an inclusive feel; that I wish the whole world had. Even when all the queen's get along the conversations they have are so important. RuPaul's talks to the queen's are inspiring and watching these important conversations could help millions of people watching, hearing all kinds of different stories can make people feel they are not alone. AND on top of that it's hilarious, fabulous, fashion, and addictive. This show is so much more than the adverts give you. It's so much more than a typical reality show. Whoever you are. Whatever your background. You will get something back from this show. Watch it.
Funny and Camp and not afraid
pidobinson29 October 2021
Drag Race UK is much more fun, lighthearted and more camp than the Us versions where the Queens are so conscious of what they say, do and act that they may be pulled apart for it. I hope that the UK version will keep that lightheartedness. The Queens are crafty and artsy and just up for a laugh compared to the US queens which give it a more wholesome feel.
season 2 has redeemed the uk show
sukoti-0363719 March 2021
The calibre of queens and just absolutely everything they brought to the show has absolutely lifted the UK version of this show compared to the drab 1st season. Keep it up I hope the UK version goes on to many successes as the US show has!
Season 10 untuck
russellalltheway15 October 2019
Loved the season so watched un tucked think if people had seen this before The vote eureka behind the scenes would have had a different feel to her she caused most of the problems between the girls she is a right back stabber and telling who ever what they need to know then a different opinion when speaking to some one else really shocked nasty girl 🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀🙀
UNBLOODYBELIVEABLE AND GROUND BREAKING HERSTORY
caitygough29 September 2021
I am not going to lie, I was worried about how season 3 was going to hold up to both season 1 and 2. Because Both were so amazing...but WOW WEE!!!!
Episode 1 of Season 3 started with a bang and we already have HERstory being made with an AFAB queen joining the competition and then THOSE LIPSYNCS!!
As always, RuPaul continues to break through stigmas and labels and creates the most amazing safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community!!!
I have a 52 year old partner who i now have watching it religiously now. Growing up in his generation he was surrounded by such negative stigmas and labels but becuase of the show, discussions were started about gender identity, pronouns, sexuality and acceptance. Watching the mind which was molded in that generation, open up and start to understand and accept EVERYONE is such a beautiful thing to watch!!!!
AND ITS ALL THANKS TO RUPAULS DRAG RACE!!!

Absolutely boring
vietorisz8 October 2019
The show reflects exactly the "quality" of the drag scene here in the UK. It feels like going out on a Saturday night to a 2 brewers show in Clapham or even better one in Brighton where some bar owner puts on a show for some cheap tourists. Cringe Cringe cringe. Even season 11 was already totally out of steam compared to season 10 but the same formula the same songs but without any prizes to win just plain boring. It's a drag show for crying out loud not an effing BBC drama
I do love this show but....

I'm from the uk and feel proud of our version!
However.... I wish Michelle was more strict like the USA version and they were some shade thrown in every now and then!!
Now we have had 3 seasons surly that means we have a ALL STARS season that could be made?

Why is this considered entertainment?

I cannot believe that this is on National TV. Hate to sound like some old fogey and I am genuinely not anti-gay and genuinely have lots of gay friends. I also appreciate that drag may have nothing to do with being gay but for the life of me I cannot see what is good about it. I definitely don't want to see it while i'm drinking my ovaltine.
So much better than the US one
vicgm2 November 2023
As much as I love the original (and I have seen every single episode of US, All Stars etc etc and a super fan) I have to say I prefer the UK version. Ru is wonderful in all of them but the UK one just makes me laugh so much! The personalities are better, the outfits are more creative and they are all so much nicer to each other. It has a really lovely positive and inclusive vibe. Let's hope the beeb commission another series, it's one of my favourite programmes. If you haven't tried a bit of Ru's magic yet you really must give it a go, it's such a positive life affirming bit of telly, plus the runway is a total feast for the eyes!
