Exclusive: BBC Three has greenlit a Eurovision-themed animation, its first in two decades.
Galaxy Dance is the youth-skewing RuPaul’s Drag Race UK network’s first animated show since Harry Thompson and Shaun Pye’s irreverent sketch series Monkey Dust, which ran from 2003 to 2005.
Galaxy Dance is set amid Eurovision 2989, with the interstellar dance competition seeing a myriad of alien groups and Earth’s human band competing for a prize fund so gigantic it could save the planet from extinction. The only issue is that Earth is on a notorious losing streak and ‘Galaxy Dance’ is the fiercest contest in the Milky Way. Enter Doyle, Jane and their team of misfits with nothing more to lose.
Starring Liam Bixby (Wreck), Lisa Dwyer Hogg (Dance First) and Mukamajulé Michelo (The Lovers), the one-off is expected to air around Eurovision. Developed by Unreal Engine tech, it is being produced by HaZimation and...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Trixie Mattel recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s twelfth episode, season 2 winner of “Drag Race UK” Lawrence Chaney makes her recapping debut with no interest in giving “credit where it’s not due.” Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of the episode, Lawrence was happy to see Q reveal a “real human emotion moment” in how she felt some type away about Sapphira Cristál winning last week’s challenge. Both her and Trixie thought it was smart of her to not speak too much about her feelings though because she might have said something she regretted. For this week’s challenge, Lawrence thought it was a difficult one that requires them to be aesthetically on point while also funny when they host Michelle Visage...

Laurence Fox has lost his libel case after calling two people including a former Drag Race contestant “paedophiles” on social media.
The actor-turned-politician, who was fired by Gb News late last year for highly misogynistic remarks, heard his comments labeled “harmful, defamatory and baseless” by a High Court judge this afternoon in London, according to the BBC.
Fox was sued by former RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Crystal and Simon Blake, a trustee of UK charity Stonewall, after referring to them as “paedophiles” on X, formerly Twitter.
Both have previously said they faced abuse after the former Lewis star’s tweet and today posted on X after the trial that “a huge weight” has been lifted. Crystal, whose real name is Colin Munro Seymour, competed in the first season of Drag Race in the UK.

I was only a few moments into my conversation with Andrew Scott when a look of puzzlement came on his face. And that’s when I realized, “Oh, no I’d spoiled the ‘Drag Race UK’ season, er, series 5 winner for him.” Granted, it had been almost two weeks since the finale and as a publically avid “Drag Race” fan, I just assumed he would have watched it. Especially considering his “All of Us Strangers” director, Andrew Haigh, was catching up every week.

At the end of last week’s episode, we sadly learnt that former Mrs Continental, Naysha Lopez, would sadly be leaving the competition after Jimbo tried (and failed) to get her revenge on her from Drag Race UK vs The World with the returning lip-sync assassin Pangina Heels! After what can only be described as a fairly one-sided battle, it was revealed that the group had decided that it was Natasha’s time to leave which meant that the other bottom queen Kahana Montrese would get another chance this season. It was when the actual votes were revealed however that we saw our first glimpses of drama from this season of returning queens after Jessica explained that the reason she voted for Kahana to home was that she couldn’t vote for Naysha as they are both from Puerto Rico. While I understand that this is a natural connection between...

I have to say that out of all of the opening episodes Drag Race has had over the last couple of years, last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars season eight was one of the better ones! The returning (and mostly fan favourite) queens were grouped together to perform on two different versions of “Fame, Money, Success and Glamour” and while the song itself wasn’t particularly iconic every queen did a really good job of reintroducing themselves to the audience! However, the highlight of the episode would have to be the That lip-sync between episode winner Kahana Montrese and secret lip-sync assassin Aja. This lip-sync was one of my favourite battles I have seen in a long time with both queens bringing a different style of performance – with the former showcasing her Vegas-centric, pop icon genre which contrasted beautifully against the latter ballroom excellence! However, it...

BBC smash The Traitors has won the BAFTA TV Award for Reality & Constructed Factual.
The Claudia Winkleman-hosted breakout series won in an all-bbc category against Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and We Are Black and British. Presenter Winkleman is also up for Best Entertainment Performance for the show.
The Traitors made a huge splash when it premiered late last year in the UK. Versions of the Dutch original have sold around the world, with some sources saying it has helmed something of a global formats revival. The show features a number of ‘Faithfuls,’ whose job it is to smote out the three ‘Traitors,’ while competing in challenges and adding to a weighty prize fund.
Last year’s Reality and Constructed Factual winner was Gogglebox.
Accepting the award, Winkleman thanked producer Studio Lambert and execs at the BBC for making it happen. Stephen Lambert, who runs Studio Lambert,...

Exclusive: The BBC is considering a U-turn on closing BBC4 as a television channel amid solid ratings and a backlash against cuts at the corporation.
The BBC said last year that it would shut down BBC4’s linear channel and move the brand online from 2025 as part of plans to become a “digital first” broadcaster.
Deadline hears, however, that the BBC’s content team is considering maintaining the channel given its relatively low running costs and popularity with viewers.
Sources said no decision has been made, but there is growing confidence it could be rescued. “Tim [Davie] is minded to save BBC4,” said one source familiar with the Director-General’s thinking.
Another BBC insider said the position has not changed since last May, when Davie announced that BBC4 would move online alongside children’s channel Cbbc.

The UK owes many of its proudest creations to other countries. Our national dish is chicken tikka masala, the Romans gave us everything from plumbing to underfloor heating, and let’s not even get started on the Royal family.
So it should come as no surprise that some top UK TV shows are based on original series from around the world. Some of these are obvious, like Drag Race UK and Law & Order being imported from the US, or The Masked Singer originating in South Korea, but some UK remakes are less up front about their international origins.

Lucy Beaumont developed this Hull-based sitcom about the lives of three hilarious, bawdy and chaotic women, which debuted on Channel 4 in spring 2022 and has already been commissioned for a second series. But despite being a gorgeous and all-too-rare depiction of working-class British wit, Hullraisers is actually based on an Israeli sitcom called Little Mom,...

Season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race featured the largest cast of queens in the show’s history, as 16 queens came together to compete for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a massive grand prize of 200,000. But despite it being a larger-than-life season, much of Season 15‘s first half contained episodes that were compressed into one hour (with commercials), as opposed to the 90-minute episodes that have been the standard since Season 10. Now, after an outcry from fans, 90-minute Drag Race episodes are back.

For the BBC, spooky mystery format The Traitors is the gift that keeps on giving.
While BBC One’s UK version proved an outsized hit and ratings bonanza, the U.S. version’s premiere has just become the most-watched show on the relaunched BBC Three linear network.
With 1.2M consolidated viewers over the past two weeks, the opening episode, titled The Game is Afoot, sits atop the BBC Three charts, according to Barb data supplied by Liam Hamilton.
Separately, the U.S. version, which airs on Peacock and was acquired from All3 Media International, has also been available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer since the start of last month.

The announcement, in October, that Maya Jama would be the new host of Love Island was met with elation from fans across the country.
“This is Perfect,” gushed one commenter. “They couldn’t have hired someone better!!!!!!” buzzed another. Many joked that Jama is so gorgeous, the ITV2 reality show’s contestants would want to dump their partners for her.
But the new job probably didn’t come as a huge surprise to the woman whose mother has videos of her, at the age of six, declaring she would be on TV one day.
Jama, now 28, has always been determined. In interviews, she’s variously described her teenage self as “fearless” and being “tunnel-vision focused”.
But back then, life was not without its complications.
Jama was born in Bristol, to a Swedish mother and Somali father, and spent many of her weekends up until the age of 10 visiting her father in prison.

During the musical challenge, she delivered a powerful message about the injustices Poc queens experience including calling out the BBC media team who recently came under fire for putting the wrong name of a black queen during one of the exit interviews of Drag Race UK season four! During the runway section of the episode, she decided to showcase an incredibly elegant, golden outfit made from duvets which looked absolutely incredible on her! After finding herself in the top two alongside Rita Baga, Vanity delivered a lip-sync performance that utilised every one of her mind-blowing dance skills that claimed her place as the overall winner of the episode. Rita decided to channel a much more comedic performance also mimicking the incredible stunts of her opponent.

For years, the Drag Race fan base has been begging for an international version of the show which would see queens from all over the world compete against one another to be crowned queen of the universe. In fact, all the way back in 2021 I wrote a fantasy cast for such a show, with many of the queens I wanted to appear actually making an appearance! Fans (myself included) were eagerly anticipating an international season to see how the different drag styles would clash and hopefully would provide opportunities for insightful cultural exchanges. However, I don’t think there has been been a season of drag race that has caused so much outrage and controversy than the first-ever season of Drag Race UK vs The World. From jaw-dropping, queen-elected eliminations to supposed purposefully thrown lip-syncs to Jujubee and Baga Chips deciding to showcase some of the worst outfits on the...

Emma Sidi has landed the role of broadcaster and MacTaggart Lecture giver Emily Maitlis in Channel 4’s upcoming satire Prince Andrew: The Musical.
Maitlis’ bombshell BBC interview on Newsnight with Prince Andrew, in which the royal denied a friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and made several eyebrow-raising statements, led to cascade of events that saw him step back from royal duty.
Maitlis has since left the BBC and was credited for delivering a barnstorming MacTaggart at this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival. The musical special will feature a reimagining of her interview with Prince Andrew, with emerging British comedy star Sidi playing the journalist.
Kieran Hodgson (Two Doors Down), who has written the show to a musical score along with Freddie Tapner, plays the royal and will focus on events, relationships and controversies in his life.
Further central cast announced today are Munya Chawawa as Prince Charles and Jenny Bede as Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah Ferguson.
Also cast are Joe Wilkinson as a newspaper vendor; Harry Enfield (Harry Enfield and Friends) as Prime Minister Tony Blair and Baga Chipz (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK) as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Hat Trick Productions is making Prince Andrew: The Musical, with Adam Reeve producing and Stu Mather and Jimmy Mulville the executive producers. Hodgson is an associate producer.
The program was first unveiled in August at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

It’s crazy to think that has been almost four years since the first ever season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK was announced which shone a light on a much more British version of drag. I think when this show was first announced there was concern amongst the fans that the Drag Race format would overlook the much more camp and entertaining style of drag that British queens have become synonymous with. We are now in the fourth season of the show and people are starting to realise that the UK queens can easily stand toe to toe with many of the American competitors. In fact winner of that first-ever UK season, The Vivienne, put up an incredible fight during the international, all-winners season this year, proving that British queens are just as talented as their American counterparts. It is clear however that Ru herself did not have...

All the way back on Drag Race US season two (which was just over twelve years ago) Ru Paul introduced the first-ever snatch game that saw the queens showcase their best celebrity impressions in a bid to make the queen supreme laugh. Since then this challenge has become a key part of any season of Drag Race and has become a decisive challenge that instantly marks the front runners of every season. It not only takes a talented queen but also a clever choice of character in order for a queen to excel in the snatch game and I for one am not sure that I would struggle under the intense stage lights in this improvised, impersonation challenge! Last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK saw the return of this iconic challenge with two both Cheddar and Dakota doing surprisingly well (as Queen Elizabeth 1st and...

As a musical theatre fan, last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK was a dream come true! What started with one of the most accurate yet hilarious Ru-sical performances (that had the queens all singing live) transitioned into a runway that celebrated some of the most iconic shows to ever hit the west end. The clear stand out last week was Danny Beard, who seemed incredibly natural singing live and their Audrey two-inspired, towering outfit was one of the campest and fun outfits we have seen on the runway in a very long time! This marks the second week in a row that Danny has been declared the winner of the entire episode and when it was announced that this week would be the return of the iconic snatch game we had a sneaky suspension she would yet again end up in the top as two weeks...

Last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK marked the third time in a row that the queens were grouped together for the main challenge. I can totally appreciate the frustration that these group challenges cause as it takes a lot more for a queen to stand out in a group than on their own. We have already seen this season how a few bad performances in a group can bring down the whole group during the girl group challenge and so obviously the fear is this could easily happen again. However, it seemed like during last week’s episode each group was fairly matched, with the top group being miles above the rest. The improvised chat show gave Danny Beard an opportunity to really showcase his acting talents and pretty much blow everyone else out of the water! On the other end of the competition, we sadly...
