Very Good Almost Perfect Movie

I love this TV-series because it shows the real life of first MOBS(Mafia) in Soviet Union(CCCP).The story which is based on real events, war and life gives unique style to the movie as powerful as it can be.By my opinion people who loves mafia movies should see it. The story which starts at the Odessa city of Ukraine in 1905 show us the simple life of Jews people and the kind of bissines that they were doing. The Friendship,Trust,Lies,Morders,Government Betraydes,Love and much more like action, agony, mystery are expected and provides in it.Miska Japonchik are known as a legend between Jews people most known as "King", the only one who make up with Government and Soviet Armies.A guy from poor family who make his way to the top making a lot of dicisions and choises.

A strong start that goes downhill very fast

I'll start with the good: The very 1st episode is fantastic- the phrases that used there are so witty and often that it can almost take another viewing to realize all the jargon of Odessa of that time. Also the 1st episode is full of action, we're introduced to the characters and the story line flows.

Now the bad: From the 2nd episode onward the witty phrases become scares as lizards on snow, if you'll spot 3 in an episode it'll be fortunate.

Then we're constantly being dragged to a cabaret that takes about 10-15 minutes of each episode where we see women dancing. It's not porn and the dance isn't too good to fascinate with their choreography so after the 2nd episode it's just becomes boring and annoying The story line itself becomes full of holes as a yellow cheese. At some point we understand that Mishka became an important mobster in Odessa but except him and his 2 childhood friends we're barely introduced into the whole organizations that he has, what happens there, how it grows etc, just a whole in the plot that a bus can drive through.

Overall i'd suggest to see the 1st episode and if you liked it go read any of the books that Babel wrote- he has a character based on Mishka and his books are full of the witty phrases that are so enjoyable.
