Three episodes in and Daniel-San has hardly been sighted. Did he quit as manager of his plush car dealership?
Gee, Uncle Louie has lost a lot of weight.
Daniel-San and Silver have another encounter and it's like walking on eggshells whenever Silver's around. Luckily for Anoush's sake that Silver's out of earshot when he calls him a "giant Bond villain."
Chozen's plan to infiltrate Cobra Kai, by ninja stealth, is exposed in episode 2. Chozen was made after only one episode. His cover was blown and it was LaRusso's idea in the first place. Everything Daniel-San tries backfires. So, Silver's armor is proving hard to penetrate after all.
Oh no! Look who's back - it's Deacon! The bad boy of karate. Silly Chozen pipes up and suggests that an old friend of Silver's is to be used as a kind of mole to chip away at Cobra Kai. Like turning Jedi's to the dark side. Or something like that? It's a poor analogy, I know. So who you gonna call? No, not them, but Mike Barnes of course, silly.
Oh yeah! Daniel-San with the colorful language. I thought it wasn't in Johnny Cade's game to be a potty mouth as he's such a family-orientated PG-13 sort of guy, but he just comes right out with it - "Mike F'n Barnes." What a hoot. Great stuff.
Game on.
Wait a minute. If it's summer break why are most of the major players wearing coats and suits? Hmm. It gets to 110 in LA. Bit hot for Winter wear.
Wow, Daniel-San and Barnes relationship is amicable. He holds no grudge and there's comedy between them. Don't tell me they're really gonna join forces? After what they went through in 'Karate Kid 3?'
Oh no, they've toned down Mike Barnes hot-headed levels. He's now likeable. He's a changed man. It doesn't suit him. He's now a reformed nice guy. He's turned to the Jedi side of things and runs a furniture store like a law abiding citizen who pays taxes. IT'S OFFICIAL - DEACON'S SHED HIS SKIN.
The fight between Barnes and Chozen is groovy. But who would have won when they were younger?
(To digress, wouldn't it be cool to see Dolph Lundgren get a cameo in 'Cobra Kai' season 6?)
Turns out that Johnny's been living in 'Joe's Apartment' all this time with infestation. No wait, that was located in NY. My bad.
A soul search for introspection has an interesting scene where Sam fights Sam, who's secretly Tory underneath. It's sort of your Luke Skywalker 'Empire Strikes Back' or Rey 'Star Wars 8' moment when they come to realise who they are. Cool scene.
You have to hand it to Silver though, he's always one step ahead of the game and keeps checkmating Daniel-San's every move.
Daniel-San and Silver meet again at the Encino Oaks - in a steam bath - and don't you feel this small round about now Danny Boy?
When you think about it, Daniel-San and Silver, still have a small bond between them where teacher's still teaching the student the ropes in a way.
In a sinister twist at the end of this episode, Silver threatens Daniel-San as he's crossed the line in the sand one too many times and in a malicious move Silver burns down Mike Barnes' furniture store.
This threatening end scene, between Daniel-San and Silver, has reduced a grown Daniel-San right back to a quivering high school LaRusso, shattering all his confidence and making him feel like a 16 year old boy all over again.
With Barnes place of employment being deliberately burned down, he's now been drawn into the game - thanks Daniel-San your doing - and season 5 is just warming up.
Well acted, Miguel, in that very heart touching scene of emotion. Good stuff.
Great stuff everyone involved in the production of this show and remember to keep those hands up, people.
This show kicks ass.
