Back to Miyagi-Do
Calicodreamin1 January 2022
Season four kicks off right where it left off and it good fashion. Another OG character is brought back and it's works really well with the current tide of the show. Maybe a bit exaggerated on the character tropes.

I spent months terrorizing a teenager over a High School Karate Tournament
jester-4056431 December 2021
Great first episode to the season, there was a lot going on.

We had Daniel and Johnny learning to work together.

But the real highlights (for me a least), was the Kreese & Terry scenes. I liked that they subverted our expectations at first, but by the end of the ep we see glimmers of the Terry we were hoping for. The Robby spotlight was also great. Johnny's son being the lead Cobra Kai student is fitting, and the choregraphed fight where he took everyone down was very well done.

Cant wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

The fight choreography was great.
nyxstrix31 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The new choreography mixed with Tanner's athleticism and proficiency is really showing the true potential of how beastly Miyagi-Do can look on screen.

Did Robby get a random power up between seasons lmao he smoked them. Hawk wasn't so easily forgiven, so hopefully everyone will stop crying about him switching sides in the house fight.

Anthony being taller than Sam now lol. Miguel unintentionally cockblocking Johnny was also super hilarious.

Robby works so much better as a darker character and this episode solidified it. Kyler has already mentioned his infamous dad so that's a good sign. Tory roasting kyler was jokes. Sam got to Robby a bit too late unfortunately, at least she tried. Interesting she went to the skatepark everyday. Oh yeh "you're not gonna get what you want" - damn bruh

This episode was overall really good.

Good start to the season and follow up to season 3 finale
Steve_Holt_2 January 2022
I thought this was a great start to the season. They set up the coming season with relative brevity. And yes, there's some cheesey aspects to what they present, but that's part of the show, and when they do it so well it's more fun than cheese.

Speaking of cheese, the Cobra Kai gang of kids is just so corny, but I'm still digging it, so no problems for me.

I think Daniel and Johnny are being handled right. They're both trying to work on being better, but each being their own worst enemy at times by not being able to get out of their own way. Its proper that they should be repairing their relationship, but it cant and shouldn't happen too fast. They are who they are, and it takes time to overcome that. Thank goodness they have their students.

Here's to hoping for a great season.

Now the fun began!!
ahmxii5 January 2022
The real highlight of this season is the Terry Silver, for which I was excited.

On the other hand, we had Daniel and Johnny learning to work together.

Apart from all that this season takes a great start, after the mess happend in 3rd one.

John Hancock of CK S4 Reviews...
TheFearmakers31 December 2021
Hard to judge upon the first episode, but Cobra Kai's turned into a full-blown The Odd Couple, and in two ways, not only Johnny and Daniel aka Oscar and Felix respectively, but poor man muscle-head John Creese attempting to bring back super-rich/new-age Terry Silver, which, to this great a series, is a bit like putting a pork hat on silk, since even Silver, upon recollecting his part in the infamously bad third film, can't believe himself how ridiculous his overboard coked-up character was, but, herein, so far so good, which is no surprise with a series that's been topnotch from the get-go.... It's just not really entirely clear why Terry Silver's needed at all being that Creese has a plot-strategic sidekick in Johnny's son... Fan service is one thing, but in this case, it is really necessary?

Excellent episode. Minor spoilers.
nickzapapp4 January 2022
There are hundreds of ways this episode could have gone but I was impressed with the decisions the writers made. I write this review on this individual episode having seen all of season 4 (and having enjoyed it). I feel the writing, particularly dialogue this season is strong. The writers had a lot of time to work on the scripts during 2020 and from what I have heard they spent heaps of time mapping out the whole season before getting into specifics - this paid off. For a show of this calibre - the acting is well above average and that continues through this episode and the entire season. The fight scene in this episode is strong, full of unique techniques - my only con is that I wish this continued throughout the rest of the season (less actual fights are seen this season). The writing with Silver is amazing, Johnny and Daniel scenes are fun. It was also great to see the Kreese-Robby interaction, as well as Sam confronting Robby. There were also some moments focusing on Hawk - something that I did not expect for a premiere episode. Great overall. This episode is one of the strongest in the season - as well as the series. Certainly, in my top 10 after having seen all 40 episodes, with 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10 also in contention.

All season 4
moov_e_c_er1 January 2022
The female fight scenes are mostly NOT up to par. It was like they either didn't practice enough on choreography to get the speed. Also there were 3 parts that were just not up to par. Overall happy to have watched it and will enjoy it again. I hope they don't fall into just settling for basic plot line form and push the boundaries like previous seasons.

COBRA KAI NEVER DIES
lhbaker-287833 January 2022
The Cobra Kai series continues and is as amazing as ever! The comedy is superb with Johnny and Daniel. Kreese and Terry set up the stage for future episodes. And Cobra Kai (the dojo) is getting back in shape.

I'm glad that Cobra Kai hasn't lost its steam, and I'm pumped for future Cobra Kai episodes.

Alright start
mycannonball13 January 2022
A fun introduction to season 4, but it didn't really have that many laugh out loud moments. It was a relatively slow setup and some of it was a bit cheesy. The best moment was when Kreese tries to convince Terry Silver to return, and Terry says (admidst hilarious clips from KK3) that he was so hopped up on cocaine and revenge in the 80s "I spent months terrorizing a teenager over a high school karate tournament. It sounds insane just taking about it." KK3 WAS insanely bad, so this moment in CK is insanely hilarious. LOL. More moments like that are needed!

My boys are back!
tinie_au4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Scrolling through Netflix and finding Cobra Kai Season 4 finally there was a great start to my new year. Daniel & Johnny together never fail to crack me up, & it's great seeing the other members of the Larusso family getting a more developed story line.

Well interesting but repetitive.
mm-3921 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Well interesting but repetitive. There is mix training which is interesting in a Rocky movie style. Well there is a mix humor of the Johnny, Danial odd couple of Karate style and personalities mix levels Kreese grabs a blast from the past form movie three. A great mix as the series bubbles. Well entertaining, but more of the same. Well acted and directed in a cheesy way. Has a cheap and fast feel. 6 stars.

Dull episode... Disappointed and it gets worse from here
paulwaluky1 January 2022
Was genuinely excited waiting to watch this. The good feelings started to fizzle out with about 15min. Was like this season was written by an poor quality AI or some of the writers just sending in old scripts with character names changes. Its just so generic, lazy and boooooring.

Season 4 is Epic!!
jasonmilesinc25 January 2022
My favorite season so far- outstanding character development and evolution. It's hard to root for everyone- but you'll do exactly that. All the stories are told and we're really seeing the layers and arc of everyone. Happy there's a season five and hopefully a season 25 too. It's so incredibly well done and full of heart too. Season 4 really nailed it! Not one weakness.

The execution of fights has gotten worse.
kabirvalg2 January 2022
The training in this show was never realistic, but you could turn a blind eye to that for the sake of likable characters and good long-shot fights.

Now, for some reason, the montage is torn, literally one or two punches and the scene cuts up. It's impossible to watch.

The actors have grown up and it's hard to see them as teenagers, making them look like dumbass violent gang members.

Disappointed, going round in circles ...
biloute_741 January 2022
This show is so repetitive, angry teenagers fighting each other, actually it's more like gangs now, adults who behave like angry teenagers. They've no life apart from karate and beating up each other. No other interest, no education, no jobs ... This show should have ended last season, even perhaps after season 2. Disappointing. I give it 5 just because of KK movies 1 and 2 which I will always love and grew up watching. Even made me start karate ... won't watch anymore though !

Dissapointed.....
javierescobarsilva31 December 2021
This show should have been ended on season 2.... the first 2 episodes of season 4 really bad. 2 old guys continues with the trauma of doing karate like they were teenagers... it looks like a nickelodeon show for 10 year old children...

Season 4 is NOT Cobra Kai
paulwattriley1 January 2022
This is no longer Cobra Kai and putting the odd bit of flashback is not going to fix that. Its just a dumb team drama now and like lots of Netflix series they do not know when to quit whilst ahead. This show was good but that was mostly pre Netflix. Clearly constantly voted up by Netflixophiles.

If pretending out of shape people can fight then its great.
RobHLYWD21 January 2022
I mean if we want to pretend out of shape kids and old people can fight in feel good political correctness then this is the show for you. Not nostalgic just corny, but netflix accomplished what they wanted me wasting my time watching hoping something orignal happened.

only bad episode this season
randyaiken31 December 2021
S4 e1 is cringe but it gets way better as time goes on. If you don't like this episode just continue watching! Cobra kai somehow took the karate kid trilogy and made it even better.

The Show is Going the Route of the Movies
rainydayjapan14 January 2022
After watching the first espisode of Season 4 (and the second episode actually), I had this feeling of de ja vu. It reminded me of my youth watching the original movies come out every few years.

Remember how when the first Karate Kid came out in 1984 and it was a smash hit and everybody liked it? Me too, it was such a fun movie. Made me laugh, made me root for the good guy and fell happy at the ending.

Then remember how a couple years later the second movie came out and it was basically passable but didn't quite get to the same level as the first? I mean, it was OK and it had the characters you had come to like in the first one, and some new ones, so you liked it but just not quite as much as you had liked the first?

Then the third movie came out and by that point your interest was severely waning, the magic was mostly gone and you kind of just watched it and then completely forgot about it?

Then for some reason they made a fourth one and you were just like "I ain't even gonna bother with this one"?

I feel like my attitude to each season of Cobra Kai has basically mirrored this progress in my feelings towards the movies 30 plus years ago.

The first season was fantastic, I absolutely loved it. It was very fun to watch and just drew me into it. It worked really well as both a character focused drama and a comedy at the same time.

The second season didn't quite replicate that, but I still enjoyed it and wanted to see how the characters I had enjoyed in the first season would see their story unfold.

Then the third season came out and I noticed my interest waning. The series seemed to be slowly morphing from the interesting and complex comedy drama it had been in the first season to basically just a show about teenagers getting into choreographed fights with each other that didn't make much sense from their character's perspectives.

Now the fourth series is here and after watching the first couple episodes I have that same feeling I had when the fourth Karate Kid movie came out - this just isn't worth my time anymore. The character drama just isn't there. The teenagers have slightly re-organized the lines on which they define their gangs but otherwise its basically just them being angry at each other and planning on kicking each other and I just don't care anymore. Daniel and Johnny are still not getting along with each other and I have long since stopped caring about that too. Its just been sapped of the character driven energy (particularly from Johnny) that made the first season work so well. Bringing in a second tier bad guy from Karate Kid 3 who I had completely forgotten about isn't going to be enough to draw me in this time the way bringing Krees in gave the past couple of seasons a slight bump in drama. I think this one is over for me. It was a great show at its peak, but no more.
