This movie is really bad...
belizefootball24 October 2014
Putting a bilingual title to the movie is a bit pretentious when there is virtually no Spanish spoken during the film. Besides Antonio Rufino, acting is really terrible, dialog is full of clichés and range from ridiculous to lame, plot is pretentious and confusing (not ambiguous, but in the huge plot holes way), there is no climax... Production is amateurish, editing is mediocre, sound is atrocious, and really, really bad directing... Whoever did the movie poster has really bad taste, it's so awful! I mean, one of the worst I've seen in my life! Production could have paid a graphic designer $50 to design a decent poster... I know it's low-budget and all, but Jesus Christ, they didn't even try to make it look appealing...

Overall, the film is awful...

I found this film sub par and boring...
hipsterdefutbol25 October 2014
I honestly don't understand how some people think this film is any good. Whoever said this movie is good is either lying or was involved in the project. The film is absolutely AWFUL, horrible writing, abysmal production. Really quite disappointing. The concept of identity is not bad, but the acting and script makes it unwatchable. There is no character development. The crucified "Jesus" scene was idiotic and darn right retarded.

Oh, how can people make such a horrid movie poster in the Photoshop era and with so many graphic designers in the LA area? I mean, come on, production didn't even tried to at least make it look decent, so what else can you expect from this film? 91 minutes of life that's just gone forever.

Total trash
editor-142-2766485 November 2014
My friend bought this movie because the premise seem good, I wouldn't bought it simple because of the terrible cover (WTF? who the hell made it, it's so bad! ha ha), anyway, so we watched at her house. Now I'm wishing I could get back the two hours of my life that I wasted watching this trash. I'll make this as brief as I can so not to waste more precious time.

No, actually, I rather say how awful this film was. I mean, this movie was SO bad I actually felt ripped off. Even though I had seen it for free. I feel bad for my friend who bought this piece of crap film. I was furious at the waste of my time. The storyline COULD have been good, but it's not. The premise of the plot is dumb, useless, the presentation awful, the acting is awful and is an unfortunate failure in many ways, everything. The worst of them all, I think, are the painfully boring dialogs that Jesus, the main character, deliver in a lot of scenes.

In conclusion, I refuse to even comment further. I hope Jesus Galindo redeem himself by doing a less crappy film. This one should be burned, buried and forgotten. I'm miserable. I'm less of a person for seeing this. What was I thinking?

El Derecho de Jesus
crisrks16 April 2011
I really enjoyed watching "El Derecho de Jesus", it is a film with a great story line which inspires an individual to strive for happiness. What i really liked about this film is that the plot really captured my attention. Not only did it capture my attention but made me want to find out what was going to happen in the end. The message it brings forth is one which motivates the viewer that all things are possible in life. The main character in the story struggles throughout his life with personal issues which he battles out in order to be accepted for who he truly is. Great film, i definitely recommend it to independent film lovers.

Must See Movie
egodinez-17 May 2008
Directed and written by Jesús Galindo, "The Right of Jesús", is a film that is sure to awake the intellect of viewers who enjoy a movie that provokes viewers. Antonio Rufino, beautifully plays Jesús, the movie's central character. Defined and depicted as a somber, depressive, and disenchanted character, Jesús struggles with a society that is chaotic, disorderly, incoherent, and where everything appears to be fractmentalized. Jesús is further challenged by very complex sets of social and psychological unsystematized orders. Despite of the fact that Jesús is forced to navigate like a vagabond, an errant pilgrim, and is marginalized by an asphyxiating society, Jesús prevails and overcomes his doubts and disenchantments. Jesús overcomes the turbulence, and manages to justify his existence and triumphs by changing and redefining his life. "The Right of Jesús" is a movie that shows that people can reevaluate their lives and construct a better world, where order and structure are possible. I had the opportunity to see the film, and I can assure and guarantee viewers that Jesús Galindo, the producer and director, has managed to awaken in us the opportunity to introspectively question our existence and analyze and change those systems that are problematic. If you want to exercise your neurons, this is a film you must see.

An introspective movie
prhilaryvictoria5 April 2020
El derecho de Jesus is an introspective, probably autobiographical film, in which ample space is left for the character's interior. Jesus is a character tormented by his past and worries about his family and because of his emotionality he makes bad decisions about his present relationships too. I found the actor Antonio Rufino, who plays the role of the main character, Jesus, very convincing. I sincerely think that this film should be seen keeping in mind the low budget that was spent, and appreciated as an introspective film based on the emotions of the main character and not on events. The only note that I feel like doing and on which I agree with the other reviews is that the movie poster could have been better presented, but this does not affect my evaluation of the film in its entirety.

AWARD WINNING FILM...
DinaSilva5 May 2019
I liked the movie and actors in this...especially since it was based on a true life; where Jesus is a troubled gay, but he confronts his fears and personal demons. Congratulations to the Director, working with a very limited budget ($20,000) I give this film an A. This film won many Independent Awards in Germany, Portugal, Hollywood and more. I'm hoping for a sequel!
