This episode hosted by Luke Perry begins with a hilarious CSPAN sketch in which Bill and Hilary Clinton are informed that crazy people are visiting the White House today, and one man is introduced as someone who believes he is the Italian Prime Minister, but later in the sketch it is revealed that he indeed is the PM. We also see wrestlers (including those played by Adam Sandler and Chris Farley) visiting the President and First Lady. I really enjoy this opening sketch.
Next, we have Perry's monologue in which Phil Hartman appears as a floating head of Obi Wan advising Perry to "use the force Luke". It's a decent little monologue.
The first sketch after the monologue is a fake commercial for the Chameleon XLE featuring Phil Hartman and David Spade. It's a funny parody as the car advertised is purposely ragged out so that no one will steal it.
Up next we have Dana Carvey as Prince Charles addressing the affair he had with Camilla Parker Bowles. He gives up his royal duties to "become a tampon for the woman he loves". Mike Myers plays the Queen and Phil Hartman is the scientist responsible for making the Prince's dream a reality. Mick Jagger appears as does Julia Sweeney as Camilla. This is an odd sketch, one of the oddest I've seen.
The next sketch plays up on Perry's sex symbol status. He plays a man named Johnny who is doing yard work for an older woman played by Julia Sweeney. She begins making passes at him and then her husband (Phil Hartman) shows up and begins to do the same.
Up next is a really good performance of "Sweet Thing" by Mick Jagger. I think this is a really good song and performance, probably one of the best musical performances of the season.
The Weekend Update with Kevin Nealon for this episode has an amazing performance by Mike Myers as Mick Jagger and Mick Jagger as Keith Richards. Before Myers and Jagger, Adam Sandler shows up as Opera Man. This is also funny and the jokes during this WU are pretty good.
The next sketch is a silly but entertaining bit about a meeting about magical talking fish that grant wishes. It's as odd as it sounds but it's good.
An even more bizarre moment comes after the fish sketch. We have the Halftime show with Chris Rock as Michael Jackson surrounded by children and midgets.
After the Halftime bit is the second performance by Mick Jagger. This time Jagger performs "Don't Tear Me Up" a slower number but another great one from "the man" as Perry introduces him.
The next sketch is High School Liar's Club, a fake game show hosted by Phil Hartman and featuring host Perry, David Spade and Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider. It's an okay sketch, nothing special, but still entertaining.
The next sketch is my favorite of the whole episode. It is supposed to be a talk show called "Sassy's Sassiest Boys. hosted by who else but Phil Hartman. Hartman is a genius in this sketch and so is Spade as Christian Slater, Adam Sandler as Mark Wahlberg and Luke Perry as RICK Shroder. I've always loved this one and I love when Perry asks Hartman who he is talking to as Hartman spends the whole sketch looking at the camera and saying sassy after each guest speaks.
After Sassy, we have Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy and Dark Moments in Black History featuring Ellen Cleghorne. I always loved Deep Thoughts.
The final sketch of the episode features Luke Perry as a son who is leaving town. Melanie Hutsell is his mom and Hartman is the father. There's not much too it but Hartman does a good job.
This was a fantastic episode with Luke Perry and Mick Jagger both giving strong performances as host and musical guest. One of my all time favorite episodes of Saturday Night Live.
