Gabe Kaplan in "Police Story"?!
planktonrules15 April 2017
Gabe Kaplan is definitely an odd choice to play the lead in this installment of "Police Story". He is Sgt. Paul Cazenovia...an undercover narcotics officer who DEFINITELY is quirky and weird. In many ways, he's like a combination of Serpico and a stand-up comedian. Well, this combo does NOT sit well with his supervisor, Lt. Thornwood (Norman Fell) and while the Captain is out on sick leave, Thornwood does everything he can to annoy Cazenovia. First, he assigns him to desk duty pending a visit with the police psychologist. Second, after coming out of that interview with flying colors, he keeps him on desk duty. Obviously the Lieutenant is not thrilled with the Sergeant's style...though he also seems oblivious to the man's arrest record. Eventually, the Captain is returning to work...and he might just have to settle this impasse.

As I watched the show, I could understand the Lieutenant's viewpoint. Sure, Cazenovia was successful but man did he annoy! Some folks who see this installment of the show might love Kaplan and his anarchic humor...others might just find him like a walking migraine! Worth seeing but a disappointment.

Fair cop tail

I am always pleased to watch those cop stories taking place in LA county, the deep dive into the daily burden of those street knights. Jo Wambaugh was really a true novelist, and it is a real pleasure to possess all this TV show épisodes. I won't repeat the topic but believe me, it's really realistic and also with plenty of light humour. And in these épisodes, you have a lead intrigue, but also supporting ones, subplots of all kinds. Here, for instance, there's a scene worth watching, when a cop in uniform asks his car papers to one of his colleagues sitting in a car whilst wearing an ordinary suit with a human size doll on the side seat... A very taut story with a good suspense too, brought by convincing actors.
