This short film is supported by a strong, imaginative script, great CG/camera work and beautiful costumes/landscape, but felt weak on the acting side. A bit more work on the actors for more natural acting would have enhanced the experience further.
As the story progresses, you get drawn into the dream world of the main character, Anne, who dreams of a faceless knight in ancient Byzantine and her, a captured princess who awaits her saviour... In real life, she is a traditional girl proud of her Byzantine background but has a bf who could care less about cultures and more about having fun. Will she ever find her true love with the careless, jealous bf?
The story draws you into the romantic side of Anne who is looking for the true love, and is easy to sympathise with her confusion and pain. A common theme dealt in a fantastical way, this film gives a slightly dramatical, colourful touch to a common theme. The characters are well thought out - however, perhaps not developed well enough.
The costumes are fantastic, using different materials and colours that are further brought out with the choice of landscape in the background. The camera is well thought out, sometimes creating false suspense creating further tension within the film where necessary. The CG in the final battle is well done creating a good sense of speed.
The acting was rather weak, but were all starting actors and can be sympathised. However, it made it more difficult to immerse yourself with the characters because of their uncomfortable acting, which spoilt some of the strengths in the actual script. Additionally, a stronger heroine could possibly have strengthened the character, as she portrayed as a weak, rather than strong heroine.
