I just finished reading the novel and I think the film is pretty true to PD James narrative. The casting, what were they thinking? It seems that Miz. Anna Maxwell Martin was mistakenly cast as Lizzie when she should've been cast as a potted plant. She has no vim, no vigor and she and Darcy have absolutely zero chemistry.
The cinematography is also a bit washed out. The locations are wonderful!
This film is exactly what it is intended to be. Fluff.
Speaking of plot points, and I will here, how can a man at death's door pick up a large heavy stone and murder a strong and vibrant man, a military man? So many holes here you almost have to have a cane to negotiate!
I think the next time I have insomnia, I'm going to pop this one in my DVR!! Snooze-fest!
