Not a Stephen King fan, but you'll be rewarded in E 8

Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure what the draw was for me to this series. It wasn't because it was a Stephen King product. Yes I've read him and Yes I've watched some of the movies. Yes I've liked some of both. Just not an avid fan.

The main confusion to me that when Scott was shot, I thought he died. And I kept that thought all through the series until E 7. Imagine my shock!

I was about to stop watching when Dane DeHaan made his first appearance - and I was hooked. Had to see what he was going to do next. He did not ever disappoint.

Before I started writing this review, I read over 20 others, and was surprised that not one of them mentioned, let alone praised the acting of Sebastian Eugene Hansen as very young Scott and Clark Furlong as his brother, Paul. These youngsters absolutely made this series worth the watch. Hansen's last scenes were memorizing. How could someone so young bring all that he did to the screen? He was/is amazing.

Joan Allen was at the top of her form as was Jennifer Jason Leigh. Julianne Moore and Clive Owen were good, but the three mentioned above lifted this production from mediocre to "worth the watch".

The cinematography was exceptional. And the last scene with young Scott was one I wont be able to forget.

Is it too long? Absolutely. Is it a mish mosh? Absolutely. Is it worth your time? I think it is, if you like mild fantasy with a touch of horror. And of course to see those three actors I mentioned. They are well-worth the watch. Without them - and the sisters - it would have been a 4 for me.
