Fritz Lang tells us the whole "Nibelungen-Saga" in two silent movies: The Nibelungs: Siegfried and The Nibelungs: Kriemhild's Revenge.
The story of the Nibelungs is an old epic saga called Nibelungenlied (Song of the Nibelungs), which dates back to a poem written around 1200 which is based on an far older oral tradition (5th or 6th century).
Anyway, die Nibelungen-Saga is a great and fantastic epic and the silent movies are real masterpieces - and the drama is far greater than anything modern fantasy like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings provides us. I first watched both movies in a very young age and still find them ueber-fascinating.
